Re: Let's Contact GW! (Round 3)

I would love to have our suits hit on BS3+, not sure what it would do with the point cost though. I'm pretty sure we will get taxed by the opportunity to get a 2+. For the marker drones I feel the 5+ is fine. With a drone controller you're back to 4+ and you're free to move and shoot. Considering yo...

Re: Local Tournament battle report - Tau still got it folks

Then, the fact that Stimulant Injector says: Roll a dice each time a model with a stimulant injector suffers a wound or mortal wound. On a roll of 6, ignore it. Makes this case specially confusing for me. It says "suffer" on it, but not "unsaved". Could that mean that you have t...

Re: Local Tournament battle report - Tau still got it folks

- You also mention how the Stim Injector in your Y'vahra (excellent choice, btw, I never use her without Stim and ATS), and that it saved you 3 wounds. How does it work though? I understand that the Stim injector, as well as the "Sense of Stone" from the etheral work in the same way, but ...

Re: Jhul'Vol's Cadre

Well.. to me 2 isn't fine, but borderline. I guess I'll just try it once in a practice game to see how I feel when playing them. For the broadside combined them with markers for BS3+ yeah. Together with an ATS you're facing invuln saves most of the time anyways, so I didn't find the AP lacking. If I...

Re: Jhul'Vol's Cadre

My own rules: - No commander spam --> I think 2 commanders should be the max, currently using a regular and coldstar as "Shas'el" and "Shas'o" QFC was.. OK'ish, combined with bad luck and a lack of redundancy he often fell short of doing his job. You did this to yourself. If you...

Re: Combat Handbook: Tips and Tricks for Tau

Ideal Assault Units Devilfish Just to check I'm doing this right: Passengers have to get out before a transport moves Falling back is counted as moving If a transport is engaged in combat, the passengers get out and set up 3" away and then the transport falls back. Correct. This does mean that...

Jhul'Vol's Cadre

Hi all, A little on front information: About a month ago I attended a Dutch GT with my Tau army, ending 21th of 43 players. As my goal was to stay out of the bottom 25% I am pretty happy with this result. However, next time I want to go higher, without compromising my own rules for my army (I am awa...

Re: First time building, concerns with codex

As long as you're referring to our battlesuits, I would suggest you take a look at magnetizing your models. While I don't suspect our fire warriors and pathfinders to change much, the new codex could make other weapons more attractive than the current CIB. For my normal battlesuits I use 3x1 round m...

Re: Frontline Gaming - Chapter Approved - Review Discussion

How do relics work? I'm still new to Warhammer (only played 13 games since I started in end of June). Either way, the warlord traits seem great for longstrike. With exemplar of Kauyon, longstrike can shoot 'hard to hit' targets with 97.2℅ accuracy WITHOUT markerlight support . That blows my mi...

Re: Stormsurge

CDS isn’t just against deep strikes so it gets activated more often and so does more damage over the course of the game. Plus CDS can help protect against deep strikes that are more then 12” away from the Stormsurge. Say I have a Firewarrior squad 6” away from the Stormsurge. Now a deepstrike unit ...

Re: Stormsurge

Warptime is definitely strong but there's not much we can do about it as T'au. No other Support System would really help us against it. At least it requires one more step for the opponent to take to achieve the same thing as without. That means one less psychic power to let them hit better or take ...

Re: Stormsurge

Against the full Slaanesh Termi combo an EWO won't work though. They will just drop in on 12.1", then use a sorcerer with Warp Time to get close. Considering a Sorcerer can cast twice, they can have both Prescience and Warp Time. (I've been on the receiving end of that combo last weekend on a t...

Re: Tau Flyer Dimensions

Pretty much. If you look up pictures from the barracuda you'll see the shape, most of the body is more or less flat with the same thickness, getting a bit thinner out to the wings. Because both the main gun and the secondary guns are magnetized you can take them out, taking a bit of height away from...

Re: Tau Flyer Dimensions

Okay, I did some basic measurements: The sunshark is just little of 8 inches/20 cm wide, it's 6 inches/15 cm deep and approx 1.5 inch / 4 ~ 4.5 cm high. For the Barracuda it's 9 inches / 22.5 cm wide, 7 inches / 17.5 cm deep and 2 inches / 5 cm high. The Barracuda body itself is closer to just over ...

Re: Tau Flyer Dimensions

Yes, makes it way easier to take along. From the top of my head you can magnetize: The sponsons with guns The missile pods under the wings The cabins for the seeker missiles (option closed and option open with seekers) Landing gear (option extended gear and option closed) For some reason the center ...

Re: Tau Flyer Dimensions

If no one else has let you know by tonight I'll measure them up :D
Just a note; the Barracuda comes pre-slotted for magnets, so the weapon choice shouldn't really matter on the dimensions (unless you glue the railgun in ofcourse, which I would suggest against ;) )

Re: Do you paint in batches, or one-by-one?

It really depends on what stage of the model I am and what I'm painting for. Currently painting very basic tabletop ready to get ready for a GT soon, so painting whole squads at the same time. Normally after the basic layers I switch to 2-3 models at the same time for highlights and shading washes. ...
