Re: Stormsurge

CDS isn’t just against deep strikes so it gets activated more often and so does more damage over the course of the game. Plus CDS can help protect against deep strikes that are more then 12” away from the Stormsurge. Say I have a Firewarrior squad 6” away from the Stormsurge. Now a deepstrike unit ...

Re: Stormsurge

Warptime is definitely strong but there's not much we can do about it as T'au. No other Support System would really help us against it. At least it requires one more step for the opponent to take to achieve the same thing as without. That means one less psychic power to let them hit better or take ...

Re: Stormsurge

Against the full Slaanesh Termi combo an EWO won't work though. They will just drop in on 12.1", then use a sorcerer with Warp Time to get close. Considering a Sorcerer can cast twice, they can have both Prescience and Warp Time. (I've been on the receiving end of that combo last weekend on a t...

Re: Tau Flyer Dimensions

Pretty much. If you look up pictures from the barracuda you'll see the shape, most of the body is more or less flat with the same thickness, getting a bit thinner out to the wings. Because both the main gun and the secondary guns are magnetized you can take them out, taking a bit of height away from...

Re: Tau Flyer Dimensions

Okay, I did some basic measurements: The sunshark is just little of 8 inches/20 cm wide, it's 6 inches/15 cm deep and approx 1.5 inch / 4 ~ 4.5 cm high. For the Barracuda it's 9 inches / 22.5 cm wide, 7 inches / 17.5 cm deep and 2 inches / 5 cm high. The Barracuda body itself is closer to just over ...

Re: Tau Flyer Dimensions

Yes, makes it way easier to take along. From the top of my head you can magnetize: The sponsons with guns The missile pods under the wings The cabins for the seeker missiles (option closed and option open with seekers) Landing gear (option extended gear and option closed) For some reason the center ...

Re: Tau Flyer Dimensions

If no one else has let you know by tonight I'll measure them up :D
Just a note; the Barracuda comes pre-slotted for magnets, so the weapon choice shouldn't really matter on the dimensions (unless you glue the railgun in ofcourse, which I would suggest against ;) )

Re: Do you paint in batches, or one-by-one?

It really depends on what stage of the model I am and what I'm painting for. Currently painting very basic tabletop ready to get ready for a GT soon, so painting whole squads at the same time. Normally after the basic layers I switch to 2-3 models at the same time for highlights and shading washes. ...

Re: EWO and Characters

We haven't had this issue in our group yet, me being the only Tau player and never using EWO. I have to say I'm a bit torn on this one though. I agree that since we shoot "as if your shooting phase", you normally would apply the rules for characters. However, as far as I know, specific rul...

Re: I've got all these XV15's. I want to use them (2K fun list)

The list looks really fun! I have to agree with Panzer though on lacking drones/markerlights. While I prefer Pathfinders, an option could be to take marker drones and swap one flamer for a DC, giving you the same chance to hit as stationary pathfinders. Also a small note on your charging the vespids...

Re: Tau army builder 8th

Are the dropdowns supposed to do anything? I cant seem to find any way of actually entering data or interacting with it in any way. I'm completely ignorant in the ways of Excel, so If somebody could explain it to me like im 10 what'd be great. :P I don't have access to the excel at the moment, but ...

Re: Tau army builder 8th

Quite the sheet you made! Works way better then me just saving each configuration in a separate excel for later reference ;) I found one small error for now: The burst cannon under Longstrike has a blank space behind it, causing the formula to give an error when refering to the point list, which doe...

Re: markerlight/shooting order

As your crisis suits and drones are one squad, they will all have to fire at the same time. A target lock gives you the means to shoot another target then the rest of the squad, but it does not allow you to fire on a separate moment in the shooting phase. Thus shooting all your drones would leave yo...

Re: When a plan doesn't quite come together...

For a friend of mine it was a few months ago, when he decided that his two battle cannons should deal with my Thunderwolf Cavalry. The first shot scattered.. Right onto the guardsman squad next to the tank, wiping half of them. Next shot, you probably guessed it, also right into the same guardsman s...

Re: Ion Accelerator vs Heavy Burst Cannon

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but wouldn't the Novacharged HBC without rending be "To wound 3/6"?
Since a 6 is always rending when overcharged and you wound on a 3+, that leaves 3 rolls over to be wounding without rending.

Re: [WIP] Sa'cea Myo'o Hunter Cadre

Just wondering here, but wouldn't bending the arms to get them off weaken them over time? Also, what magnet size did you use for keeping the HYMP in place? Did you have to drill a bit in the arm to make room for the magnet? I'd like to know since I'll probably try it as well sometime soon, since the...
