Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

We don't know anything yet relax. The time for pitchforks comes later. Remember even if we get an absolutely poopy codex there is the new FAQ around the corner for major balancing. As for the codex, it's going to be exactly what we need. If you expect to have your mind blown away with this codex, y...

Re: An Appeal for Jump-Shoot-Jump

There's a disconnect to the arguments for JSJ. I think players are intentionally or unintentionally ignoring all the changes that have come to the game and how they interact with T'au. You can't just look at things like this from one angle. You have to look at the entire game and all its aspects. Th...

Re: An Appeal for Jump-Shoot-Jump

To preface, we cannot have a conversation if you're not going to reply properly, or if you're going to change your mind on what was actually said. You said, specifically , and I'm quoting here: I agree. What matters is that it was nearly a faction-defining trait, and was removed without compensating...

Re: An Appeal for Jump-Shoot-Jump

What is this lack of compensation? +1W +1T. Fly keyword (free hit and run). 8in movement, up from 6in. Ability to advance and still shoot at normal BS with wargear or markerlights. Drones become arguably more reliable since they can take wounds at will instead of having to "be in front". ...

Re: An Appeal for Jump-Shoot-Jump

I agree with GND. JSJ was not unique to T'au and wasn't a very interesting mechanic. On top of that it was sometimes unreliable. As a side nitpick it also increases game time. The loss of JSJ means that the suit must now be inherently tougher, and they are. Crisis suits are T5 with three wounds. The...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

You seriously have to look at each codex as their own thing, because overlapping them into soups doesn't work as you lose all of the benefits within the codex the moment you mix units in the same detachment. There aren't any competitive armies with internally-mixed detachments of course, but "...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

You all failed to get the point. Space Wolves still can't play Space Wolves with a codex even though other Imperial books are out. "But they can proxy them!" isn't an excuse. Players don't WANT to play another codex, they want to play their own codex. You seriously have to look at each cod...

Re: Flamers in 8th Ed

Then it was removed. 7th used to have a special rule for flamers called "No Escape". You would get some kind of benefit for shooting into a structure with flamers.

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Breachers can be useful. If your opponent deepstrikes near your lines and fails their charge, your breachers can move into position and do a counter attack. If you need to go after mid field objectives, your breachers can footslog or drive there in a devilfish. It may not be worth it to go all in on...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Marines are a bad example, because wolves CAN play as count-as codex marines, or blood angels, and be mostly fine in the meantime. It's not even close to the same thing. Each faction is different in their lore and how they play. They don't want to play some other army, they want to play their army....

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

With twenty something codex and only a couple coming out a time, there was bound to be factions that come first and last. Even though most of the codex have been imperial or chaos, those are still separate armies. As an example there are plenty of Imperial Codexes out now, but none of that helps the...

Re: Pure Theory: Designing an "Optimal" Tau List?

Multi-tracker vs X Weapon brings us back to the Twin-Link debate of old.

Why go for a reroll when you can go for more dakka. If you have points to spare, you should grab another gun.

Re: Flamers in 8th Ed

a) For overwatch, the target has to be in range for you to fire. If they are 8in or less when they charge, you then follow the weapon's profile. They are still automatic hits.

b) It no longer does this AFAIK. Narrative play may have some extra options or advance play.

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

My tin foil hat says we are getting several Xenos codes release dates.

That is what the teaser is hinting at. So far the only armies that haven't "done much" in story wise has been xenos.

We may also see another campaign in the summer.

Sounds like it will be necron.

AKAIK, GW has said that they will not introduce new armies until they are finished with the current ones.

Could be wrong.

Re: Are Razorsharks worth it?

Sun Shark Bomber is better than the Razorshark. Razorshark gets 1. One Burst Cannon replace with Missile Pod 2. One Quad Ion Turret. This fires 4 ion shots or overcharge for D6 ion shots. 3. Two Seeker Missiles. ~150 to ~160pts. Sunshark Bomber gets 1. One Markerlight 2. One Missile Pod or you can a...
