Re: The run to 8th edition

I have only had a few games to try Breachers. Breachers fall under the category of "yea they're alright, but this other unit is better." that a lot of Tau units "suffer" from. The biggest problem is always getting them to the fight. Transports in 7th are easily destroyed. The Bre...

Re: Can you mix Breacher Teams and Strike teams??

Refer to your codex to find out what each unit has the option to take. Anything found within the listing of a unit is what they can take. So strike teams cannot equip pulse blasters. It's not listed. They can take pulse carbines/rifles. When it comes to modeling, the rule of cool prevails for the mo...

Re: The run to 8th edition

I see. That makes more sense. Seems like gunline formations would be risky as a charging unit can potentially grab a bunch of units if they are packed together.

Re: The run to 8th edition

Going back to the discussion of charging straight out of a deepstrike, I just want to double check something. In the Fight Phase post, they say that "Units that activate gain a free 3″ move towards the closest enemy." This extra 3" sounds like it is applied only after a successful ch...

Re: The run to 8th edition

I would bet Tau dollars that this is how fusion will work. Removing the "half range" thing is a great way to speed up the game (no more measuring to check). It also translates better into causing wounds on the target since everything has wounds. Melta is supposed to be able to destroy tank...

Re: The run to 8th edition

We can kind of guess how Fusion will behave. The Avatar of Khaine's weapon in 7th has the melta special rule. We got a sneak peak at his weapon for 8th. The weapon in 8th is 12'' S8 AP -4 D6. Roll two dice for damage, select the highest result. My guess is that Fusion will work the same way except i...

Re: The run to 8th edition

Super hyped about the changes. They appear to be "balancing" out the strength of some of the stronger units, and redistributing it to other units in the army. So this has the added benefit of making it so you don't feel like you absolutely HAVE to bring a particular model in order to do we...

Re: The run to 8th edition

The three generic ones might be three of a number of generic options. Who is to say what else there will be. I think Stratagems are extremely fluffy and rewards players for sticking to thematic armies like the creator's envisioned. This is good for the health of the game as it helps to further break...

Re: The run to 8th edition

Not very likely. The Tau getting lost in the warp is specifically so that they can reappear (JUST AS PLANNED) in another part of the galaxy. This is so they can be part of the shenanigans. The question is how are they suppose to be able to survive being plunged into the warp without a Gellar Field. ...

Re: The run to 8th edition

Twin linking is out for crisis suits. The act of twin linking will be just buying two weapons. It covers the same hard points as twin Linking in 7th and fulfills the same function. Twin link will likely continue to be a thing for broadsides, riptides, etc. I feel that crisis suits will get something...
