Re: Do the Tau make use of wheels anywhere?

Anti-grav wheelbarrows, sure. Not rolling pins, though as its...it's just a rolling pin. The point is that using anti-grav technology as a default makes sense when you are a space faring people. It completely negates the differences between different levels of gravity on planets and terrain difficul...

Re: Do the Tau make use of wheels anywhere?

I think it all depends. There would probably be different levels of anti-grav technology. The anti-grav system for a Hammerhead might be different from, say, a moving truck or mail truck. Wouldn't be as powerful and would likely be forced to stay close to the ground. That would necessitate roadways...

Re: Dealing with Custodes?

Their shooting is definitely not garbage. They lack volume of fire and volume of units. They are better in melee than shooting but 2+ vs 3+ isn't garbage. What kills my troops is simply volume. If you put enough shots into them they will die. When I say their shooting is "garbage" I am sp...

Re: Dealing with Custodes?

Priority is blowing up the land raiders and spreading your troops out. Custodians are slow and their shooting is garbage.

Utilize T'au speed and stay away from custodians as much as possible. Turn 1 and 2 are the hardest. Use screens and spread out to cripple their effectiveness.

Re: Balancing turn one

If you're getting alphad from shooting you can do two changes that will help. 1) add more terrain. Most game boards do not have enough terrain. 2) house rule that you cannot shoot through bottom floors of buildings unless the target is inside the building. So if I see a TAC squad in a building st th...

Re: Possible use for AFBs: bendy markerlights

I'm mostly planning to do this to my friend who continuously moans about how cheesy and OP tau are in 8th, whilst fielding an adMec army that has a -1 to all incoming fire and rerolls all ones plus cants on top. No tau are not cheesy in eighth, I had to specifically scour the rules to find even one...

Re: Rough terrain (vertical) rule

I feel like that would make everything more complicated. Adds extra time to the turn. You have to figure out which model(s) fall. What about coherency. Is it balanced. Etc. If the issue is being able to charge but not make it into base contact because, for example, the upper floor is blocked. Just m...

Re: Possible use for AFBs: bendy markerlights

It's a little cheeky considering we know how marker lights are supposed to work.

A "bendy" markerlight wouldn't really be that useful though. Not for what you have to spend to get to do that.

Re: Please Listen (specifically Mods)

US ISPs have one of the weakest infrastructures in the modern world because they left the old copper networks in place for decades, and are basically demanding government funds to replace them with fiber. ...Maybe I hear this wrong somewhere, but haven't some large ISPs already gotten billions from...

Re: Please Listen (specifically Mods)

Losing Net neutrality will pave the way for ISPs to make slow and fast lanes or break up the internet into packages. "Oh you want to go to ATT? Well you need to buy our "Internet Fourms Package" for 9.99. No im sorry the Internet Fourm Package does not included Facebook or Reddit as t...

Re: Chapter Approved Leaks Discussion

That's fine. That's what you're supposed to do. But if there was a squad of space marines in front and a chapter master charged your line from behind those space marines, you get to fire overwatch on the chapter master. That doesn't change with the CA ruling. The CA ruling was to fix "clever us...

Re: The Firesight Warlord

You don't really get much of a benefit to picking firesight as your warlord except they're on a cheaper platform. They are considerably weaker than "traditional" hq options and you essentially "waste" the only decent warlord trait they have right now.

Re: Chapter Approved Leaks Discussion

They did an FAQ that said that characters can be shot in overwatch even if they are not the closest model at the moment of their charge.

The character changes in CA do not change this fact.

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Sorry, but I can't follow your reasoning. Many people were hoping for a revamp of the current markerlight table. But instead GW puts out a stratagem to enforce the current table. I don't think they would introduce this stratagem and also rewrite the table or lower the hurdles to get the most wanted...

Re: Objective Secured Options for Tau

Kroot - as mentioned, kroot are a "cheaper" troop choice for T'au. They are still very weak with their low armor save but they fill a decent role in deepstrike denial. At least on the first turn. Firewarriors - The only other option we have. Great at holding objectives in the back. Mediocr...

Re: Infiltrators question

It all depends on what you are trying to accomplish and what your play style is. Infiltrate works differently on different units and it can vary from army to army. The restrictions for T'au is that they cannot deploy in the enemy's deployment zone and it has to be 9'' away from an enemy unit at the...

Re: Factfile: Battleforce T'au

He's wrong to suggest considering it on Commanders. "How you equip your battlesuits is up to you, but consider taking at least one flamer on your Commander and XV8 Crisis Battlesuits to discourage any units that try to charge you." This is what he said. This is what that poster commented ...
