Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

I fear for the purist, like someone says I must add a color iI don't like to my minis, to "correctly" represent a Sept... Most players do not care that your army color theme doesn't match your minis. The problem comes from if you have two or more septs in a list and you have the same colo...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Well they said ten codexes before the end of the year, and IIRC there have only been eight released so far. So there's going to be at most two more. So there's a chance! I'm betting that we will get ours right before christmas. T'au is a popular army and releasing the codex before Christmas would be...

Re: Throwing out the mold: the merits of despecialization in crisis teams

Is that value for points realistically happening with Crisis Suits given their average Ballistic Skill and their cost? It seems to me that mixing weapons would be good if suits cost 15-20 points less per model or they had 3+ Ballistic Skill -- even an extra wound. Perhaps there is merit for an all-...

Re: Throwing out the mold: the merits of despecialization in crisis teams

It depends on how you plan on building your list. The Crisis Suit is meant to plug a hole in your army. To fill a weapon niche you are lacking or to fill a special position that you might need like deepstriking melta for hard to reach tanks, or deepstriking plasma for TEQ. Spreading out the crisis s...

Re: How are you liking the new addition compared to 7th,6th,5th, and 4th

As far as rules go, they are super easy to pick up and to understand. There's little in the way of rules modifying rules modifying rules that makes death stars a thing, which is great for the health of the game. The extra layer of strategy added with Stratagems was an excellent addition to the game....

Re: Chapter Approved snippets - Matched Play changes!

People dislike FLG and the ITC because they often ruled correctly on rules that need to be FAQ'd back when FAQs were almost non-existent. People tend to get upset when their Commander suit doesn't allow their entire army to hit on the rear armor of a baneblade. Otherwise their hate is unfounded. IT...

Re: Gave suggestions to GW re. T'au

Markerlights - but we have, on average, stronger weapons than most other armies. The difference is that our shooting is usually not as good. Markerlights help to make up for that. This is why Commander spam is currently popular. All of the strong weapons, with none of the accuracy problems. Seeker M...

Re: RAW, Mont'Ka and heavy weapons.

It says, "advance and shoot as if you hadn't moved," not "advance and shoot as if you hadn't advanced." So, feel free to move and shoot those Heavy weapons! I have a to agree. A FAQ would clear it up, but consider this. You roll for advance when you decide to move your unit. So ...

Re: 8th ed transports, EWO, and deployment

My ruling I say that the transports themselves and any units they carry count as a single drop therefore they are a single unit for purposes of total number of units set up. Correct. The benefit you get from piling troops into a single transport (less drops, higher chance you go first) also gives y...

Re: Droneport and pathfinders

Unless otherwise stated, some weapons have penalties if you move. In the case of Pathfinders using markerlights, if the Droneport they are embarked upon moves, the Pathfinders inside get a -1 to hit. Perhaps the codex proper will lift the restriction. As mentioned earlier up thread, getting the math...

Re: Photon Grenades -- What's the Point?

It's D6 grenades. There's a good chance you'll get at least one from a single unit. If you have supporting fire, you'll be getting at least one, potentially a couple. It's -1 to hit, they stack with other effects, and you can potentially push your opponent to be unable to hit at all if you're lucky....

Re: Competitive Tau

There are many units in the T'au index that shine brighter than others. The game is still evolving somewhat based on player feedback and tournament outcomes. I think the state of the game will be far more balanced and workable by Christmas than it has been in decades. Our codex will also likely stra...

Re: What we can learn from the new Chaos Codex

Whatever method Games Workshop uses to define points costs I really wish GW WOULD use a method of formula to decide the points costs of everything, IE with the Guardsman/Fire Warrior statline being the starting point, and increasing or decreasing points costs on a per-stat/wargear/rule/perk basis. ...

Some stratagems require you to have X amount of Y units to utilize a special action.
