Re: Chapter Approved snippets - Matched Play changes!

People dislike FLG and the ITC because they often ruled correctly on rules that need to be FAQ'd back when FAQs were almost non-existent. People tend to get upset when their Commander suit doesn't allow their entire army to hit on the rear armor of a baneblade. Otherwise their hate is unfounded. ITC...

Re: RAW, Mont'Ka and heavy weapons.

It says, "advance and shoot as if you hadn't moved," not "advance and shoot as if you hadn't advanced." So, feel free to move and shoot those Heavy weapons! I have a to agree. A FAQ would clear it up, but consider this. You roll for advance when you decide to move your unit. So ...

Re: 8th ed transports, EWO, and deployment

My ruling I say that the transports themselves and any units they carry count as a single drop therefore they are a single unit for purposes of total number of units set up. Correct. The benefit you get from piling troops into a single transport (less drops, higher chance you go first) also gives y...

Re: Droneport and pathfinders

Unless otherwise stated, some weapons have penalties if you move. In the case of Pathfinders using markerlights, if the Droneport they are embarked upon moves, the Pathfinders inside get a -1 to hit. Perhaps the codex proper will lift the restriction. As mentioned earlier up thread, getting the math...

Re: Photon Grenades -- What's the Point?

It's D6 grenades. There's a good chance you'll get at least one from a single unit. If you have supporting fire, you'll be getting at least one, potentially a couple. It's -1 to hit, they stack with other effects, and you can potentially push your opponent to be unable to hit at all if you're lucky....

Re: Competitive Tau

There are many units in the T'au index that shine brighter than others. The game is still evolving somewhat based on player feedback and tournament outcomes. I think the state of the game will be far more balanced and workable by Christmas than it has been in decades. Our codex will also likely stra...

I don't even bother discussing rules anymore because they get FAQ'd or changed in weeks rather than years. A welcome pace.

Re: What we can learn from the new Chaos Codex

Whatever method Games Workshop uses to define points costs I really wish GW WOULD use a method of formula to decide the points costs of everything, IE with the Guardsman/Fire Warrior statline being the starting point, and increasing or decreasing points costs on a per-stat/wargear/rule/perk basis. ...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

We can look at the current teasers and leaks from the new codexes and get an idea of what to expect. For example, the Iron Hands (Heretic Astartes) ignore cover and also get to reroll wounds against buildings. Likewise, Imperial Fists (Loyalist Astartes) get to ignore cover and get to reroll wounds...

Re: Ghostkeel & S.Drones

Keep in mind that the Ghostkeel's -1 to hit and the S.Drone's -1 to hit only apply to shooting weapons, not melee attacks.

Whereas the Stealth Suits and Shadowsun have -1 to hit always. Would be nice to see the S.Drones buff Stealth suits and Shadowsun though.

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Commanders and crisis suits - These suits need to only equip 2 weapons, especially commanders (maybe the commanders have access to one additional relic weapon). I think we all have a sense that the 4 FB commander is just silly. I would be ok with this coming with a slight point reduction. If you're...

Re: Tidewall construction

The Tidewall is no longer supposed to connect to other portions of the wall in 8th. If you want rules for 7th, the Tidewall Rules will explain how you may take them. Some formations allow you to do things differently. IIRC, each shieldwall must be accompanied by another shieldwall or a circular port...

It will be shot at with high strength, multi-wounding weapons that have -3 or -4 AP. A shield gen is a must have. You've already spent several hundred points on it. It's a 40pt insurance policy!

Re: How will you use Shield Drones, post-FAQ?

I have no idea how the inner workings of GW works in relation to FW, but we are lucky to have that cross-over rule come to our shield drones. I wonder if it was intended for the Shielded Missile drone to also have this 5+ FnP. That would be neat. Shield drones as objective holders is an interesting ...
