Feel No Pain like abilities "stack".

The Iron Hands preview mentioned their special rule, The Flesh is Weak , which gives all their infantry and dreadnoughts the ability to ignore damage on a 6+. They also mentioned that the Venerable Dreadnought's ability, Unyielding Ancient , which gives Venerable Dreadnoughts the ability to ignore d...

Re: Longstrike might not buff himself!

Is the argument really that it isn't bold therefore you can't tell what the rule actually does? Not quite. The argument is that it isn't bolded, and so does not reference a keyword, but instead references a datasheet unit name. That seems facially wrong on intent and raw, but that's why the AoS off...

Re: Flying units and melee combat

I wouldn't get hung up on a model not being able to pivot if it was surrounded. It seems pretty clear that the flying model that is in super sonic mode is supposed to be able to move unimpeded. You just get a chance to bop it with units that have the fly keyword because they can reach it.

Re: High potential understrengths?

It's a good question in that vehicles can have passengers or extra guns on them so how under-strength works with them can be unclear. For the Sunshark Bomber though, it's preeeeeeettty clear that you can't just take the drones. Maybe go without one or two of them, but to just take the drones and not...

Re: For the Greater Good question.

Within a unit yes, you cannot change targets once you've allocated shots. With multiple units though, you can shoot with the first unit, see the result then shoot with the second depending on what's left, even in overwatch. ) But reread the FtGG rules. When an enemy unit declares a charge, a unit w...

Re: Longstrike might not buff himself!

I don't see the confusion or the conflict then. It clearly states what it does. You can also follow the logic and the intent rather easily. Edit: Sometimes a rule will say that it applies to models that have a specific keyword. For example, a rule might say that it applies to 'all ADEPTUS ASTARTES m...

Fire Cast Exemplar: You add 1 to hit rolls in the shooting phase for o̶t̶h̶e̶r̶ friendly T'au Sept TX7 Hammerhead Gunships within 6." PG72 Index Xenos 2. This was recently FAQ'd to remove the word "other" from the sentence. Aura's: For example, a Lord of Contagion has the Nurgle's Gi...

Re: High potential understrengths?

I'm seriously disgusted (appalled? spelling?) that there is even a thread about how to use this rule to have a tactical advantage in the game. First rule of this game should be fun for you and your opponent. This WAAC attitude does nothing towards that, actually the opposite. (sorry just had to get...

Re: Let's Contact GW!

Sorry AnonAmbientLight, but if everything would be so obvious and easy to tell there wouldn't be discussions about those specific rules in the first place. That's not true at all and that's actually a bandwagon fallacy. There are some genuinely uncertain rule interactions I have pointed out earlier...

Re: For the Greater Good question.

One more question. Do you need to declare all instances of FtGG before you fire any shots? If they don't end up firing are they still prohibited from firing overwatch again? Example: a pathfinder team is within 6" of a stormsurge, which is getting charged. Must you immediately declare the path...

Re: Let's Contact GW!

The thing is not about IF there is an answer. Its about which of many possible answers is the correct one, or better; Wich of the answers is the answer GW had in mind at the moment they wrote them into the books. That is where all theses discussions come from. We try to find out, what the intention...

Re: Let's Contact GW!

Some of these can be answered already. Yes, I know these can be answered. I have an answer for.... hold on... don't fly off your chair... ALL OF THEM. Really? I missed all that. Most of your answers consisted of "No one can decide, so we are going to ask." But most of the questions have p...

Re: Let's Contact GW!

Some of these can be answered already. Q: How do re-rolls of failed rolls work when combined with modifiers? Let's say I shoot BS4+ to a hard to hit(-1 to hit rolls) unit, I roll 4 (an actual 4 on the dice). Can I re-roll it as a failed roll? Or is the success/failure of a roll checked twice, one ti...

Re: High potential understrengths?

Bring Crisis Teams with Gun Drones but without Crisis. Now Manta deploy gun drones. Profit. Seriously, don't use the understrength rule... You can only take two gun drones per XV8 suit model though. If you don't have any XV8 suit models then can you really take any gun drones? A sunshark can drop t...

Re: XV8s - From Theory to Tabletop

Seriously though, the point I was making is an important one. http://www.advancedtautactica.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=26056 Here's a T'au player that placed 2nd in a recent tournament. He primarily uses Flamers, Fusion, and Burst Cannons on his suits to do the job. In this case his playstyle is ve...

Re: Overwatch and flamers

Yes, overwatch follows normal rules for shooting. So you need LoS and you need to be within range to shoot. You get to shoot all weapons that are eligible to shoot. You ALWAYS hit on 6's UNLESS you have a rule that says otherwise. This means that negative modifiers CANNOT prevent you from shooting. ...

Re: XV8s - From Theory to Tabletop

It's still important to recognize weapon range and application when trying to figure out what weapon is best to use on the table top. The CiB might be better than the Missile Pod on paper, but the Missile Pod is far more flexible and safer in its application than the CiB is. The real question you sh...
