Re: Alternative Fire Warrior Heads?

My first post specified helmets.

I was looking for something other than what is in the kit already.

Alternative Fire Warrior Heads?

Hey guys, I have a project in mind and I'm looking for some suggestions for alternative fire warrior helmets. Looking for something similar to current aesthetic, just slightly different.

Re: XV8s - From Theory to Tabletop

At that point I'd probably do a staggered drop ot a delayed drop. Or honestly not care. Much of it isn't so much about the alpha (since the vespid and commander can still hit their targets) and more about 900 points landing in your back field and sandwiching my opponent between two dangerous forces.

Re: XV8s - From Theory to Tabletop

I'm considering a unit of 5 with double plasma and a flamer each to use as a shock unit in a heavy deep strike list. The idea is to keep them relatively cheap but dangerous enough to draw fire and let them threaten a variety of targets. I know people are down on plasma but CIBs are expensive and mor...

Re: Distress call

Hmm... I'll try to keep the 6 drones unit intact, and I'll make sure to remove the guardian drone last. If I'm right, with 8th ed. rules you can remove your losses from a unit as you wish. By the way, if I ever need to reduce my army list to 1000 points, what should I drop and what should I keep/pi...

Re: Competitive Mechanized 2000pt

Yeah, I don't mind building a gun line army, but that's not this. I really want this one to be mobile, resiliant and versatile. And I REALLY don't want to paint 60 firewarriors. :P To that end, I *am* begrudgingly starting to come around to the idea of a unit of crisis suits, though their purpose is...

Re: Competitive Mechanized 2000pt

It's not losing models, that's fine. It's about making your opponent work for it. T3 with 4+ is easily dispatched by the humble bolter. Sad but true. T7 with 3+ and 13 wounds...different story. I may just need to try the list out and see how it shakes out. If I did replace the Ionheads with anything...

Re: Competitive Mechanized 2000pt

Hmmm. I'm hesitant to do more firewarriors cause they're so squishy and crisis suits are just soooo exspensive. I could do 6 man stealth suit teams with zero support systems. That wouldn't be awful. I'd still love to do the HBC hammerheads but they're also too expensive.

Re: Competitive Mechanized 2000pt

So I've been thinking about this supposed horde problem this list may have (emphasis MAY :P ) and I'm kicking around the thought of dropping the two Ionheads and putting two Sunshark Bombers in their place. Could help with the horde issue bit still sticks with the heavy vehicle and high mobility con...

Re: Breachers are still good

I use mine in a devilfish with Darkstrider and so far have found them to be solid anti-terminator responders. When a squad deep strikes in or near my lines I have the devilfish roll up to them, charge them, disembark the next turn, have Darkstrider hit them with his markerlight and reduce their toug...

Re: Competitive Mechanized 2000pt

As I said, once the FAQ for the Hammerhead Turrets comes out I may shift some points around and make the Ionheads into more of an anti-infantry role. What I like about the hammerheads is their durability which is why I'm hesitant to reach for infantry. In this new edition things die very quickly so ...

Re: Competitive Mechanized 2000pt

Would this be more aggreable? Not sure if I want this much infantry, but it would give me a solid firebase to bubble wrap with/hold local objectives. Spearhead Detachment Longstrike+Railgun+SMS (Warlord) Commander+4 FB Piranha+BC 2 Railheads+Drones Ionhead+Drones Battalion Detachment Darkstrider Cad...

Re: Competitive Mechanized 2000pt

Fair enough then! At least give Longstrike his Smart Missile Systems though, and a pair of Seeker Missiles. Longstrike can hang back and still wound nearly every vehicle in the game with Smart Missile Systems, and his drones will likely be out of range. Seeker Missiles are self-explanatory of cours...

Re: Competitive Mechanized 2000pt

Well right now I'm waiting to see what the FAQ for forgeworld Tau looks like. Ideally, if the points come down for the special hammerheads the two Ionheads become either burst cannon turrets or missile turrets. I also don't feel like I'm in too bad of shape anti-infamtry wise. 5 hammerheads can fire...

Competitive Mechanized 2000pt

The concept of this list is to take all comers in a competitive environment while staying highly mobile to respond to objectives. ITC format is likely going to be the norm in my area, so number of drops isn't too important. Outrider Detachment Darkstrider 10 Breachers+Guardian Drone+Markerlight+Devi...

Re: Mech Tau in 8th edition

With the amount of games I've seen of 8th, most of the game seems to take place between 24" - melee range after turn 1. This edition everything is fast. Might as well cash in on as many shots as possible. Plus being able to advance and fire could be the dofference between being charged or not. ...

Re: Mech Tau in 8th edition

I really like the concept of mech tau more than ever since suits are so expensive. The concept of two firewarrior teams in a devilfish with a pulse accelerator drone and fireblade each along with a breacher team with guardian drone and Darkstrider seems good on paper. I also am highly considering us...

2000 First Crack at 8th

I've crafted this list in an attempt building an all comers balanced list that synergizes well. I'll go over some general theory after the list! Detachment 1: Battalion HQ Fireblade - Markerlight, Pulse Rifle, Photon Grenades Fireblade - Markerlight, Pulse Rifle, Photon Grenades TROOPS 10 Strike Tea...
