Re: Have you noticed Tau always seems to have a "crutch" unit?

Are you talking about hyper competitive tournament settings or in general? We had a bunch of really decent stuff in 7th, the riptide wing overshadowed everything with OP-ness. I’m fairly certain pair of properly supported stormsurges could do acceptably against all but the most cutthroat of lists in...

Re: Fior'Serra Sept - Gallery and Army Progress

Ooooh that's sexy. Is it a proxy for something, terrain or just a pretty display holder for your firewarriors?

How'd you do the bullet holes in the base?

Re: Fior'Serra Sept - Gallery and Army Progress

Your paint scheme looks pretty sweet to me, and I like all the infinity model conversions. Could you take your photos from a little farther away though? I like how you're going for sweet dynamic shots, but it's hard for me to actually see the models very well. You're so close that your camera can on...

Re: Coldstar or 4 FB?

Even though using magnets sound scary, they're actually not that hard to use. I would very much strongly suggest you just magnetize your commander. I've been playing since 5th edition and magnets just make life so much easier. Especially since there is an extremely high chance GW will nerf the 4 FB ...

Re: Let's talk about the Sun Shark

You are mixing 7th and 8th rules here. Actually everythign you wrote is 7th edition. Please read the 8th edition rules before commenting on a thread. There is no such thing as Flyer coming in on the board anymore and also no such thing as leaving the boeard and coming back next turn. You deploy the...

USE MAGNETSSSSSSS!!!! DDDDDDDDDD:

That being said I always like seeing ghostkeel models in non-stock poses. How did you decide on this particular pose? Have you fielded yours at all yet in 8th?

Re: Why 8th Gun Drons as OPAF

Gun drones are pretty widely acknowledged to be the most point efficient model in our codex in terms for points to wounds against basically anything. That being said I highly doubt squads of 12 drones would be particularly good as they have an absolutely terrible leadership. They'll basically evapor...

Re: Let's talk about the Sun Shark

I've used the sunshark three already in fairly laid back games and found it to be extremely underwhelming (pre this last FAQ). The best part about it is far and away it's bombing run. Mortal wounds on infintry models are great. However, it is extremely difficult to position the sunshark in a way tha...

Re: FW Xenos FAQ.

Just glancing at it, it looks like the shield generators for drones (for the riptide drones) give them a 5+ FNP save like thing against mortal wounds.

This bodes well for changes to our normal shield drones in future FAQs. Or does this change help us now?

Re: Manta Strike

It's true that these units did lose manta strike, but I hardly think that matters as none of the suits were often deployed via that method anyway. The riptide's long range meant that holding it in reserve resulted in a lose of first turn shooting which wasn't worth it. Personally, I'd just outflank ...

Re: Riptide Critique Please

For starters the riptide paint job is truly quite stellar. But you asked for critiques and the weakest parts of the model for me are the base and pose. I can't really tell what's going on in the base (snow?) and the bright white is distracting from your red paint job. The pose isn't bad, it's just a...

Re: Full Army Paint Scheme, please help with naming

I would strongly recommend you use Tauman's lexicon for help in naming your commander. http://www.advancedtautactica.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=23062 All of the Tau commander names, once translated, are usually two words mashed into one always following the form of Descriptive Word + Noun/Verb with...

Here's my currently painted models (except for my devilfish/hammer head that I forgot at home). It's roughly 210 Battle points or around 4000 regular points. Re: Tekkenotik's Sa'Cea Rra'Ka Cadre UPDATE PIC HEAVY

I'm really digging your color scheme. It looks like you might be going a little heavy on the blue glowing effect from the photos but it might look better in person. I'm a sucker for stealth suits, are you going to paint yours camouflaged or in standard colors? Are you interested in doing a fluff bac...

After my first game of 8th I figured shield drones were a bit more mandatory.

So I painted all mine up.
