Re: T'au in Narrative and Open Play

While I feel like most of us are here for competitive play, I'd be curious to hear how many players do narrative/open games. Looking at the missions, it seems like Tau will have an advantage in anything really aggressive- if the rules give bonuses to quick units with good firepower (like in Meat Gr...

Re: Returning to Tau: Mechanized Infantry List Competitive?

Hello everyone, after a long Hiatus due to work and Military duties I am finally looking at starting up a Tau Army once again. The original Force I had to sell due to some medical shenanigans but now I have thankfully saved up enough and I'm ready to serve the Farsight Enclaves once more. Currently...

Re: Combat Handbook: Tips and Tricks for Tau

Diagrams are on my to do list for this article especially since it is based more around how things move. Although it will be after I finish painting my secret santa model for our club. Kroot hounds are definitely an exception to the rule for Tau. I don't have the models so I can't speak to in game ...

Re: Combat Handbook: Tips and Tricks for Tau

I think you have an excellent basis for an academy article here. We may need to get together to put some graphics together to illustrate some of the tactics, diagrams are really helpful when it comes to understanding positional play. Reading through it all seemed to make sense yet seemed to conclude...

Re: Objective Secured Options for Tau

I have a round 20 kroot and I'm unsure how to use them, honestly I'm just not using them. I used to have them in my lists quite a bit as bubble wrap but drones are helping with that. I'm planning on trying out the Devilfish with Breachers. I think it needs a points reduction for sure. It's a great ...

Re: Objective Secured Options for Tau

Breachers in a Devilfish are good at pushing forward onto an objective. Strike teams chilling in cover, probably with a turret for fire support, are decent at holding home objectives. Kroot are a bit too fragile for holding objectives against opposition (which is when you would need ObSec) as they a...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Taking our temperature as a community. We all have a lot of hopes for the coming codex but after chapter approved im feeling less and less optimistic. Im asking some questions and posting my thoughts so I don't go crazy. 1. Do you think our index is internally imbalanced? I feel there are many unit...

Re: Just bought a tigershark ax 1-0 need help on a list

This is true too! With those extra Missile Racks and the Heavy Burst Cannons the Fighter-Bomber is an absolutely vicious anti-infantry and anti-MEQ unit. However, CrappingEagle doesn't have a Fighter-Bomber, so that point is a little moot I think. I do not (yet) have the kit but I am curious. Other...

Re: Just bought a tigershark ax 1-0 need help on a list

Take the HBC over the Ion Cannons. They are much better. Also always take the skyspear missile racks, and if you have the points and marker light platforms seriously consider taking all 6 seeker missiles. One of the best units in our codex right now. Have fun. So it seems like the general consensus...

Re: Frontline Gaming - Chapter Approved - Review Discussion

The Exemplar of the Kauyon doesn't help you with "hard to hit", at all. On Longstrike this trait is useful, in fact it's the only character that it's somewhat useful, the issue is that it's useful (i.e. better than 1 markerlight) only when Longstrike is on the bottom line of the damage ch...

Re: Frontline Gaming - Chapter Approved - Review Discussion

So from what I can gather named characters who already have a relic or unique equipment cannot take relics, fine. But what about named characters without any unique equipment? Take our current named characters Aun'va has paradox of duality, no relic for you He comes with two unnamed characters. As ...

Re: Fire Warriors are good again!

I think this is a hint of the future but the future is not here yet. We currently have one really good Stratagem and I might still want to grab a re-roll every now and again. If I am happy enough to grind it out by turn 6 without CP then I might want 10CP. On the other hand we have a new Relic which...

Re: How to deal with Nids?

Honestly I haven’t played against Tyranids this edition yet so.... that’s about all the advice I have :/ I have. Gun drones. Lots and lots of gun drones with a few shield drones mixed in for durability. Tyranids rarely have better than a 3+ save and usually have much worse. if they want to rush int...

Re: Las Vegas Open - 100 power point army

Hi, I am going to have to take a guess at what you want to get out of this event until you explain a bit further. I think it is a fair assumption that you are not all about smashing face and taking names because if you were you would be in the competitive tournament. Rather than measure brutal killi...

Re: Chapter Approved Leaks Discussion

No, examplar of Montka is a little better than target lock because it allows you to advance and fire heavy weapons and advance and fire rapid fire weapons, in addition it (probably) can be combined with the montka ability. Exemplar of kauyon on the other hand is worth 2 points (as much as multi tra...

Re: Chapter Approved Leaks Discussion

Ok, the relic and trait 2 are both slightly more impressive than expected. I'd like to note Ralai (FW) also enjoys the trait very much, though he sets up some marker support so he might get along without it. In any case, CA is a bit of a disappointment. It would not have taken them much to add a si...

Re: Chapter Approved Leaks Discussion

Lastly: Understrength units can only be taken in Auxiliary Detachments. We've known this already but it does raise an interesting question. Is it worth spending 1 CP for a Monat XV8? 1CP to take a Monat Stealth Suit as a Drone Controller caddy with bonus Homing Beacon option? Surrounded by drones i...

Re: Chapter Approved Leaks Discussion

Hmm. Most of the missing factions from the points changes either just got a codex (Eldar) or are about to get one (Dark Angels, Blood Angels, Chaos). Then there are Tau and Necrons; nothing definitive but at the very least highly suggestive of the release schedule after Chaos. Fixed points would hav...
