Re: Playing against Grey Knights 1000 pts, please help

Grey knights want to assault you and can spam smite. For both reasons you want a decent amount of chaff to use as bubble-wrap and to keep their teleporting units a respectable distance away. Drones, Kroot and Kroot hounds all make good claims to this role. As others have said, you will need weapons ...

Re: Fate of Konor Week 1: Attacker Army build thread

As attacker too much of an MSU could definitely be a liability - the defender can always choose to go second so they can wait to multi-assault you on that last turn to score lots of VP. At best I would regard extreme MSU as a gamble. As a Tau attacker I think you need enough firepower to cut a hole ...

Re: ATC 40k Results

Team tournaments are weird and even more spammy than normal tournaments. The winning team had two Stormraven spam lists - only really differing by which chapter they were played as. It tells us what is currently spammable and therefore almost certainly in need of a tweak by GW but I am not sure it t...

Nice work. You might want to look at the VT, I do not think that is affecting the outcomes as it should.

Re: Pathfinders: Ion Rifles or Rail Rifles (or none)

Drones are viable ablative wounds, as always, and often well worth killing in the place of a Rail Rifle pathfinder... but that's going to get very expensive in Drones very quickly. First, the enemy is targeting the pathfinder, so the pathfinder's Toughness is the one used for wounding purposes. Wou...

Re: first ever tournament 1500pts

I would consider taking pathfinders instead of Marker Drones. The commander then does not need to use up a slot on the drone controller and either Mont'ka (to negate the penalty for movement) or Kauyon (so those markerlights really hit) will work wonders on them. The missile commander should not nee...

Re: Pathfinders: Ion Rifles or Rail Rifles (or none)

I have a set of Rail Rifle pathfinders ready for dry-brushing and the Ion Rifles are just getting built. Having proxied (ahead of wielding the green stuff and paint) I would make a few different observations to some of the other responders. Rail rifles are only as frail as your supply of gun drones....

Re: GrimDarkMath - Suggestions and requests

If you are taking suggestions - how about the XV9 variants?

Back-of-the-envelope maths suggests that both the Burst Cannon and Fusion Cascade versions perform better than their XV8 counterparts. Having a spare slot to take a support system also helps for both options.

Re: New 8th FAQ

Do you really have to add the Markerlight for FW Drones? In the GW codex they already come with all their wargear included. You do because it says just above the drone points costs that they do not include weapons and support systems. It adds up to exactly the same for the Blacklight drones as for ...

Re: New 8th FAQ

As i read the revised rules for the Shield Drone and Shielded Missile Drone: They have a 4++ against weapons targeting them but still not for Saviour Protocols They now have a 5+++ against everything - whether direct attacks or Saviour Protocols. So far it only applies to the FW Riptide variants but...

Re: New 8th FAQ

Ye they added the feel no pain to both shielded missile drones and normal shield drones... -black markerlight drones got stable platform back, no change in price -They're messing with FW hammerhead variant keywords, looks like preparation for getting buffer from longstrike -Tiger Shark can shoot th...

Re: Tau Take 2nd Place at Wet Coast GT 2017

This is the latest incarnation of Ninja Tau as played by Paul McKelvey (aka DarkRaptor on this forum). Two Stealth teams to deliver Homing Beacons. Fusion Commanders and a Crisis team to drop in and take full advantage. The list is designed to be played aggressively, the one game he lost he said it ...

Re: Ultramarines Chapter Tactics spotted!

If those are the 5 septs and we only get 6 then I could see a 5th sphere sept getting rules. However if we get 8 we might see rules for 2 more established ones. If they did some "lesser" known Sept's which two additional ones would we like to see? I would be curious to see D'yanoi Sept ha...

Re: Let's Contact GW!

I actually think it's more efficient when everybody posts their "problems" in a calm manner directly on their facebook page or sends them an email. The mass will give them a much better impression of how wrong some things are than a single neat and tidy list of things. That too. I was sor...

Re: Tau 8th ed. mathammer tables

Hmmm, how easy would it be to add a 'show' checkbox for each row (or one that highlights the row a different colour)? so you could like, hide rows to make it easier to compare units? Update: The checkboxes on the left will highlight a row (ctrl + click on them for multiple selection). Sorting a col...

Re: Let's Contact GW!

Back on topic young Shas. Is there a way to set up a poll on this forum? We can make a list there and take the top few to GW after a period of voting and debate. I live in the NOVA area and know many 8th Edition play-testers personally. I can assure you that many of these concerns were things alrea...
