If it is then nothing from any army can deny backline protective spells.

I meant to type 18 and dropped the 1 by accident :P

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

The thing is, tau do have psychers. They are called nicasaar. If GW released them, half our problems would be solved. We would have reliable mortal wounds and anti-psychers. Which, as is pointed out every time someone brings the Nicasaar up, the Tau Hide because they don't want their creepy neighbo...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Death Guard are in the Chaos Space Marine codex and then also have their own Codex too right? There's no reason why Farsight Enclaves can't be listed as a Sept with their own Sept Trait etc in the T'au Empire Codex and then get their own Codex with unique units down the line anyway. The new Faction ...

Re: Xenos Armies Development Observations

I could see them fleshing out Kroot enough for their own Codex, and even creating a full Demiurg Codex (following the steampunk dwarves of AOS, I'm sure those models would be easily recylclable as a base in CAD). Not sure where Vespid would fit in unless they either mashed them all into one Codex o...

Re: Vertical movement question

Something like common sense. If you talk to your opponent beforehand and declare that huge mountain is not passable or even "overjumpable" then the problem would be solved. Common sense has no place in RAW though. Of course that's how'd you do it in casual games but in a RAW discussion th...

Re: So about those Riptide Wings...

On the bright side perhaps if they're allowing Grand Masters to take Dreadnight's they'll allow Commanders to take Riptides, Broadsides or Ghostkeels? They wouldn't have to release a new model to allow it - there was originally no difference in model for a Commander and a normal Crisis suit after all.

Re: Do shield drones get invuln saves on ablative wounds

I was just wondering...if the point of shield drones is to provide a bodyshield, do they get invuln saves on ablative wounds??? As written in the index originally they did. But an errata update changed it so that when you use them as a bodyguard they suffer a mortal wound which means they don't get...

Re: Homing beacon question

Jumping on the thread to ask something that's been on my mind since the index first dropped: Is there any rule stopping you from deploying a unit (i.e. Farsight) within 1" of an enemy unit using the homing beacon - instantly putting them in combat without actually have to ever charge (or suffer...

Re: Question regarding wounding

The rules specifically says that you must have visibility of the model, not unit. You shoot at a unit, but models from this unit must be in range and visible. The rules say you must have visibility to a model to target the unit, but attacks are still resolved against the unit as a whole not against...

Re: Question regarding wounding

I'm pretty sure in 8th edition all that matters is that the shooting model can see and is within range of the targeted unit at the moment the attack is declared . Even if only one model is visible to the attackers and that model is removed first they can still continue to deal wounds to the unit and...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

And, to be honest, I'm kind of shocked that T'au players would consider sept exclusive character buffs as being a good thing. I can't think of a single reason why anyone, including fluff fanatics, would cheer for that. Hey, I'm a hammerhead pilot hovering next to Longstrike, the greatest hammerhead...

Re: Tau turn flowchart

Updated chart to include shield drone's new FAQ'd ability in the "Feel no Pain" quasi-step. I also added the roll you need for the FnP and Explodes/Crash and Burn rules. May add similar notes to other sections later but may not due to other sections being less uniform in how the various ab...

Re: Tau turn flowchart

At the start of movement phase you have "detach drones" I assume you mean the splitting of drones that are attached to non-vehicle units from their "force ogranisation slot" unit. From the wording of pathfinders, there is uncertainty if it is done before or after vanguard move. ...

This started off as an exercise to make sure I understood the turn order correctly and particularly when exactly abilities like Saviour Protocols and Sworn Protectors activated but it turned into a comprehensive flow chart covering almost all of the Tau special rules, including marking which rules a...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

But T'au or at least the Ethereals deny more or less the warp. Wouldn't it be strange if they started to field equipment for that? They do, but the fluff is also going to advance by 100 years or so. What if there are "secret" upgrades that XV8 pilots carry that they're not even aware of, ...
