Re: XV109 Y'vahra (any feedback?)

I think the ATS is superior to the target lock if shooting at a multi-wound amour unit with an amour save of 2+, 3+ or 4+ that doesnt have an invuln save. I guess how common do these guys not have an invuln though? Vehicles are obviously usually one, but I guess the ATS would do little in this situa...

Re: XV109 Y'vahra (any feedback?)

This is why you take a target lock for 12 points. No longer losing BS from moving. Very common equipment for him. Yes he is expensive, but yes he absorbs a decent amount of fire to bring it down and unlike the riptide it is VERY deadly to enemy elites and tanks. Ya I wanted target lock to improve t...

XV109 Y'vahra (any feedback?)

Has anyone tried running the XV109 Y'vahra yet? On paper he still has some fantastic damage output capabilities but the range and point cost is a hard thing to swallow. I am wanting to run one and just deploy it on the board, and hope for something juicy turn 1 that is <26" away for the flamers...

Re: Uses for Darkstrider

Ya I made the amateur mistake of just assuming broadsides were "fly" as well and I didnt bother to screen it when some pesky infantry went to assault him since I just told myself I would fall back and wreck them next turn... Wasn't until I fell back that I realized he didn't have "fl...

Re: Cadre Fireblades: Our true Markerlights

The other thing I really struggle to justify is it appears matched play 2k point games are leaning towards a 3 detachment limit.... a droneport taking up an entire detachment by itself and not contributing any CPs is super disappointing :( They need to fix that. I will try a drone port and give it a...

Re: Cadre Fireblades: Our true Markerlights

I didnt catch that the drones need to disembark to use a model's BS.... that does hamper it a bit as I thought they had to remove the platform to remove the drones if we wanted. Do the drones shoot at their regular BS when still embarked on the port? The question to me then comes down to if the dron...

Re: Fresh from Forge World - XV109 Y'vahra for 8th!

But without drones to be ablative wounds I think he may actually be too fragile. By turn 2 you are down to just 12 wounds and a couple lascannons alone with just a 5++ from range can drop him. Better stats than 7th with the same saves, but if he takes up ~400pts that is a lot dough for a handful of ...

Re: Fresh from Forge World - XV109 Y'vahra for 8th!

Am I right to assume that if a Y'vhara activates its nova ability, both weapons can be fire with their respective nova profiles? I would assume so. The language doesn't really clarify, but I think it's safe to think it will. Maybe FW will clarify a bit. I am afraid of his potential point cost but t...

Re: Markerlight Discussion

Ya small drone units offer kill points pretty easily, but i still think they are cheap enough and protect the suits enough so the pros outweigh the cons. Just take a unit of 2 markerdrones with a nearby controller and hit a target with one of them and then have your drone port fire and with a 2+ rer...

Re: Markerlight Discussion

I feel like drones as ablative wounds is great for our suits. While yes the enemy can try to have small arms fire to destroy the drones nearby before firing big guns at the suits I think this is still a buff for us to either force them to spend the first 1-2 turns trying to kill drones or fire at ou...

Re: The run to 8th edition

Also, i was trying to find the cheapest way to get drone controller into my list and kinda thought stealth suits might be a good call. 3 stealth suits with two controllers in them are only 100pts and provide something like a 20" diameter bubble for improved drone BS. Havent looked hard enough t...

Re: The run to 8th edition

Already have the droneport in my list =D Are we sure that passengers don't suffer the -1 penalty for shooting heavy weapons if the port moves? My only other concern is that the droneport isnt unkillable and putting a ton of markerlights feels like it might be a lot of eggs in one droneport.... I am ...

Re: The run to 8th edition

I have high hopes for markerlights still given this in the article: "A unit of three Crisis Suits paired up with Markerlights will bring down even large vehicles relatively quickly." While its trying to read tea-leaves I am thinking they are still talking about missile pod crisis suits and...

Re: Any experience with large units of crisis suits?

I find success with a crisis-star I run: -Shadowsun -Commander with iridium, C&C, MSS, PEN, Stim, Vectored retro thrusters, Neuro web jammer -4 crisis with dual missile pods, 2/ target lock -2 gun drones Put them in ruins cover and thats 17 wounds with 2+ cover saves and a commander hopefully ta...

Re: Ethereal + 2 Marker Drones + Sniper Drone Team = Win ?

Ya the marker lights being forced to shoot at the same target as the sniper drones is not that attractive. That said an ethereal in a sniper drone team is still strong. I used to put an ethereal in a devilfish with some warriors and station them nearby a sniper drone unit. Before the FAQ nerfed the ...

Re: Buffmander Question

Or Wyverns. 2-3 of those are about 100p and would wreck any Crisis unit no matter where they are or what characters you have them joined

Aren't Wyverns AP6 or something? Just put the commander upfront and your still taking 2+ armour saves with FnP

Re: Buffmander Question

1. How do the crisis suits get a 2+ cover save in terrain? Is there something I'm missing here? If the crisis team has Shadowsun in the unit then she confers Stealth and Shrouded for a 4+ cover save in the open. Put the unit in some backfield ruins and utilize their 36 inch range while having a 2+ ...
