Re: XV-95 Ghostkeel Battlesuit discussion

The Ghost is finally a suit I can feel comfortable deepstriking with... because it pretty much has no other option. I think it'll be fine, especially in a squad of 3 (which means 6 bubble-wrapping stealth drones). I don't get the necessity of drones, though. What happened with the technology that th...

Re: Handling the top armies? (Feeling dated)

I feel like the Tau are still one of the best armies in the game. The Firebase is not a viable option for tournaments as people have seen it too many times and it's now too easy to counter. It was great back in 6th but now it just doesn't belong. Tau have a lot of other great tools to bring to the g...

Re: Psychic Counter (Invisibility specifically)

There's a guy at my local GW that just LOVES to run Deathwing termie squads, one of which has a Librarian that he always gets invisibility for. I've played him three times and stomped him each time. Here's what I think about it. Rule number 1: light up whatever squad has the psyker the minute it dee...

Re: Are drones efficient use of points?

A possible point of correction, ShampocalypseWOW: And of course they can hold or contest objectives in a pinch. Drones can't contest/hold objectives. They're always non-scoring ( unless they're joined to a model/unit that can score... but I don't think that is what you were saying ). Recon. Right, ...

Re: Are drones efficient use of points?

For my points, drones are only useful in a couple of different situations: First, the most important one, you put them in a squad of crisis suits and a buffmander with drone control and spit out a pretty much guaranteed 6 marker hits at a single unit. Whatever unit you shoot, it's going to have a ba...

Re: Ion Cannon hammerheads - competitive?

A regular Ionhead is alright if you've got just enough points to run a slick one in your list, but not enough for a proper Iontide. If you've got both the model and the points, however, an Iontide I think is always going to be preferable. The Riptide has buckets of survivability (always run it with ...

Re: Top Tier Terror

I like the Tau optimism going on in this thread. Tau are by far not the cheesiest (at least anymore?), but most versitile? We are pretty versitile, but lack some key options, like close combat ability. Tau are definitely the best when it comes to maneuverability, and I think most players, Tau player...

Re: Clever Ork hordes

NEVER deepstrike your riptides. That is a total waste as they are not great in close combat and can easily be locked in, especially against horde armies. You also take away at least one shooting turn, and for what? Riptides can shoot the table with the IA and have the maneuverability to get up close...

Re: Fighting Skitatrii

Meh... I played against Skitarii and found them to be full of firepower, but far too fragile. Maybe my opponent was just terrible, but I ended up tabling him without too much trouble. Jump shoot jump is a hell of a save.

Re: Space Marine problems - Razorbacks for Everyone!

Railsides and ADL. Fire warriors with emp's. Kroot with sniper rounds. Sniper drones. Riptides. FW riptides. Deathrain suits with buffmander. Ethereal buffing infantry fire. Piranhas with FB's. Gun drones to screen. There are so many options to deal with this stuff. Railsides will make short work of...

Re: wall of death vs Fog of Dreams

In overwatch, a flamer is not a template weapon, it has the wall of death special rule. The model's BS is not considered, nor is the fact that template weapons can't fire snap shots because it isn't a snap shot. It's an automatic D3 hits. So as long as the model can fire overwatch with their flamer,...

Re: How to maximize my and my opponents enjoyment in each game

My SM-playing opponents always accuse me of winning with "Tau cheese" because I often beat them handily (though a couple times it was pretty close). I really don't know what constitutes "cheese" for Tau anymore, especially when SM and their chapters have some seriously cheesy stu...

Greetings! Veteran Tau player here and long time lurker of ATT. Been in and out of the game since early 3rd and picked up Tau as soon as they started coming out. Was out of the game for all of 5th and most of 6th and just got back into thing a couple months ago. Looking forward to learning more from...
