Re: Xv9 with DBBC is anything better point for point?

They are a great unit being able to take units of 1 and 4 gun drones for 32 st 5 is a nice touch also.

Dbbc with ats is a sweet choice also you can't go wrong with this unit.

Re: Competitive Tau

I agree the gun rigs are actually a pretty good unit not sure why their BS doesn't get better if someone is riding it. Mathematically liong strike is a little better, that being said he is not able to provide the same potential output that having 2 rails guns though with luck involved can do. The ma...

Re: State of T'au

I agree with panzer I made a tier list that may help you decide on what to get. Not sure if you use forge world minis but the xv9 are also a good unit so it may be a good idea to read the forge world stuff. Big change for the tau is we now excel at 18" combat to many things out range us and our...

Re: Competitive Tau

Good tier list. I'd put hammerheads to mediocre tier (esp. if assisted by longstrike) Strike Teams are competitive though, don't know what you are doing wrong :D "Especially" doesn't mean they rely on that to justify that classification. They are mid-tier without Longstrike and upper mid-...

Re: Competitive Tau

Yeah can't argue about that. The 7th T'au Codex was one of the best internally balanced Codices if we ignore the few broken formations. Now the internal balance is more than just off. you know what though in 7th there was way to many broken formations which basically made formation balanced since a...

Re: Competitive Tau

There are many units in the T'au index that shine brighter than others. The game is still evolving somewhat based on player feedback and tournament outcomes. I think the state of the game will be far more balanced and workable by Christmas than it has been in decades. Our codex will also likely str...

Re: Mont'ka and charging

Panzer and Glarblar I appreciate both your inputs no need to continue if you feel I am arguing, I am trying to solidify my own understanding and how to actually play this. The "both" is also what throws me off and since "both" is implied it means to me that the advance portion st...

Re: Mont'ka and charging

No they can't By your Logic An'shi, the rule would then have to include "And charge (as if they hadn't moved this turn)" No necessarily since the rule is indicating that when you do mont'ka advancing counts as not moving and shooting counts as not moving for modifier purposes. My logic is...

Mont'ka and charging

Hello all, I didn't see this rules question so I figured Id post apologies if I missed it within another topic. I know tau charging is this guy crazy lol the wording is " Friendly sept units within 6" can both advance and shoot as if they hadn't moved this turn" Since both the advance...

Re: Competitive army 2k no more Mr nice guy :)

So based on what I read I will need to find a way to drop my drop count. I could drop the fire warriors take a devil fish and 3 units of 4 marker drones and put them in the devil fish I like the xv9 and drone shooting output 32 st 5 shots is still pretty darn good. Doing the above gives me a few ex...

Re: Competitive Tau

Ghostkeels have almost twice as many wounds as Commanders, one more Toughness, and 4" movement. And as for the Stealth Drones, they're really only there to protect the Ghostkeel. If your enemy wants to waste rounds of shooting on the Drones, then they're doing half of their job. For the some 1...

Re: Competitive Tau

non competitive units <snip> ghostkeels <snip> Okay, that's interesting. Conventional wisdom has it that Ghostkeels are quite solid. Care to expound on this? Sure now don't get me wrong I love the ghost keel but I do feel it's is not competitive reasoning we all know the first drones can be picked ...

Competitive Tau

Okay so I am one of those competitive players and though I feel the tau can be a really competitive army the way to get there is by mass commander spam. Too many times I take a unit kit it out then think to myself why not just take another commander does anyone else feel this way? non competitive un...
