Re: Tau Bastion

you could try coating it with a thin layer of sheetrock(or drywall) mud which is easy to smooth out and will take paint nicely once sanded smooth. When sanding, what sand paper you use is important to the finish, start with something rough like 60 grit and then move up to 120 then something in the 2...

Re: High potential understrengths?

I hate the power rating system so much. Had a new player come to my local GW store and wanted a quick game. We decided to use power points to hasten the list building process. I absolutely wrecked him into oblivion. The entire game I was like are you sure that's 60 power points? We counted it sever...

Re: Let's Contact GW!

A suggestion for how to fix the marker light table: Keep the table itself unchanged and instead change how it is used to the following: For each successful marker light hit T'AU EMPIRE units can select and use one bonus from the Marker Light table. No one unit can use the same bonus twice. In this w...

Re: My first 8th Edition list attempt 2000pts

Thanks for the first list! Can you write some more about what your intended tactics are? the idea is to deploy Farsight, the crisis, and 12 drones with them in the manta hold first in the hope of better learning where the enemy will deploy. then i will deploy 2 teams of 10 drones in cover or behind...

Re: Using Magnetic Tape on XV8s

With the right magnets, absolutely. The magnets I used were so strong that they actually pulled each other out of the sockets I drilled for them leaving either both on the weapon or both on the suit.

Re: Using Magnetic Tape on XV8s

Never thought about using magnetic tape. Sounds a lot faster than the tiring 'drill - get single magnet - check polarity - glue - hold' process I'm currently carrying out. I'm betting the results won't be as good though. A bit of metal pin (like clipped from a paperclip or small steel rod of some k...

Re: Farsight Enclaves ... road to a playable list !

Fantastic paint jobs, my only criticism is on the ghostkeel and is less about the paint than the choice: Why would a battlesuit with active camoflage need passive camoflage also?

Cool but how do you read it? Each box is in an X,Y format; what is X, and what is Y? I guess you are joking, but if not: The boxes are not in X,Y format. "," is used as a decimal mark AenerIT might have revealed his origin :D (that's why I didn't even notice it) Definitely not joking; to ...

Re: Wound Overflow with Savior Protocols

Another way to read it is that it says "allocate any wounds" (plural) as in, if you take a hit from a single weapon that does d6 wounds. Does a single drone then intercept all that damage since it's from a single shot and doesn't normally have overflow? This is a flawed line of thinking. ...

There is a third party company that makes jet packs for firewarriors, those are a great vespid conversion.

Re: 8th Ed Alpha Strike (Or, Why Crisis Suits are Expensive)

That's quite the large footprint to drop within 6" of a homing beacon It's a 1 foot diameter circle with the beacon as the center point. I think it'll be easier than you realize especially since suits can all pack into the front half (toward the enemy) with only the very back edge of their bas...

Re: 8th Ed Alpha Strike (Or, Why Crisis Suits are Expensive)

So I think the crisis bomb that's going to matter will be 9 battle suits each with dual fusion and a flamer, and 18 Drones. Use a stealth team to drop in exactly where you can do the most hurt, use drones and flamers to clear the chaff and the lay waste with your fusion blasters. Add in a commander ...

Re: TWO 8th Edition Battle Reports For Your Viewing Pleasure

Whereas cheap Vespid have similar firepower at nearly five times the range accounting for their movement. Maybe, but the models are so ugly that their original sculpter should have been fired (or fired upon), along with the guy whose decided they don't need a new sculpt each time tau get a pass. Yo...
