Re: An Appeal for Jump-Shoot-Jump

Moving JSJ to a Strategem would be a pretty hefty disappointment for Commander spam and would further inflate the value of Y'vahra since it is probably the best single target candidate for JSJ use. Another interesting option would be multiple units using JSJ, but costs multiple CP. Something along ...

Re: markerlight commander

The advantage of taking Marker Drones with a Drone Controller (on any suit) is that they can move and mark stuff, great for when you're fighting on a very dense board. Pathfinders have to stay still to fire their Markerlights effectively (and still disappointing at that). It depends on the situation...

Re: An Appeal for Jump-Shoot-Jump

I'd like to add some discussion points that I found on reddit regarding this topic, but before so, I want to say that I am for JSJ, and I'll give a good, balanced example toward the end. From what I read, almost any unit with some form of a jump pack or jet pack have a larger move distance than our ...

Re: A'kish Vior'la Cadre

Painter's block, similar to writer's bloxk, is a term I use to describe the lack of motivation to paint when there is lots of painting to be done. One wants to paint, but just can't sum up the motivation.

I did notice you following me on Instagram :D

Re: A'kish Vior'la Cadre

Finally! 2 months in the making! My Pathfinders are finished, and are probably my best minis yet! https://s17.postimg.org/uht4kuwq7/20180112_221258.jpg I still have some special weapons to paint, but since I'm not planning to use them just yet, they can wait. I also created an instagram account pure...

Re: Where would you put a Seeker Missile on an old Broadside?

It still hits on a 4+ re-rolling ones, which gives it slightly more than 0.5 average damage. Not bad, but not great. I'm assuming it'll get better in the Codex though. They work exceptionally well when combined with Master of War: Kauyon. I'm still deciding whether I prefer 3 Railsides with Seekers...

Re: Where would you put a Seeker Missile on an old Broadside?

Broadsides can take a single Seeker Missile now, which might become a viable choice if Seeker Missiles are improved in the new Codex. I use Seeker Missiles on my Railsides. A Mortal Wound for 5 points is fantastic. It smashes Hunter Killer Missiles out of the water for comparison, as HKs still have...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

The reason I think it's fluffy is because Mont'ka and Kayoun are DOCTRINES of war and not buffs. They are a set of principles by which the commander (i.e. the player) executes a battle: -Mont'ka: hit vulnerable and key targets fast and hard to destabilize an opponent -Kayoun: pull the enemy into a ...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

It's also super fluffy, which is why I like it. Its super fluffy to, for only a moment of the battle, do really good? Then we go back to being Terrible? That doesn't seem very fluffy to me. I don't think Commanders should be one-moment-leaders. I think they should either lift the 6" limit or m...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

That seems a bit OP instead I'd go for able to use mont'ka or Kau'yon every turn with Farsight giving something like an additional D6" move and still count as stationary, and Shadowsun Kau'yon gives reroll 1's to wound 1- Kauyon gives reroll 1s TO HIT if you are standing still, just like every...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

So I got a wild idea. What if, as a way to turn commander crisis suits into actual commanders instead of just elite crisis pilots, they received the following added ability: "All friendly XV8 Crisis Battlesuits within 6" of the commander add 1 to all shooting rolls/add 1 to their Ballisti...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

The problem I have with Commanders in 8th is that they aren't Commanders. They're just good Crisis suits. Sure, they have Master of War, but its highly conditional, and after that, the Commander offers no benefit to any other units at all. Every single other army's main HQ choices offer at least one...

I magnetised my Drones :D I have 14 Drone discs and 34 Drone attachments :) When I need more discs I still have near 30 on sprues.

Re: Help a new Tau player

That explains it :) As for starting out, I recommend playing around with the 1000point mark to begin with. Find the units you like, and try and narrow down the ones you like most, or the ones that work best in combination with the ones you like. Take velocity trackers against flying enemies. You get...
