Re: Concrete objectives

You could always use the mysterious objective rules from the previous edition. I didn't like them, so I made my own mysterious objectives in the last edition. I can't remember for the life of me what they were, but I know that one was a kind of light refraction anomaly that gave a cover bonus, and o...

Re: Tips for building a army

I recommend you build your army with the units you like. I, personally, would definitely include the Stormsurge with Early Waening Override, Shield Generator and Velocity Tracker. I love the Stormsurge, I just don't own one yet :P For me, Pathfinders are an auto-include. They may not be our best sou...

Re: Reprice the Tau

I'm fairly sure this post is a breach of one of the guidelines for the site. Never, ever list individual point values for anything. Listing the sum total of points for a squad is OK, but no item-by-item points breakdowns are ever allowed. ATT has zero tolerance for listing individual point values. R...

Re: A'kish Vior'la Cadre

It all looks great. Just looked through the 12 pages here, good consistent progress, nicely done! :) If I had only half the pace... I wish I had the pace of some of the better loggers :P I consider myself going at a dinosaur pace! Gosh I love the way you have posed your RIPtide :P Have you done any...

Re: 50% Obscured and Cover

Sorry but that's not how english works, n1md4. Damn yooou Ennglish! I'll stand over there ---> corrected. This is the best response I've ever read lol. I will continue to state that my issue is: A vehicle or monster will get a cover save if obscured by terrain, and standing in it, yes, but won't ge...

Re: 50% Obscured and Cover

Q: Do units that are not Infantry (Vehicles, Monsters, etc.) gain the benefit of cover from woods, ruins etc. if they are at least 50% obscured by that piece of terrain but are not actually on or within it? A: No. Unless they are Infantry, such a unit must meet the two following conditions to gain ...

Re: 50% Obscured and Cover

To answer your first question, yes, any model that is at least 50% obscured by a terrain piece, then they do get a cover bonus of +1 to their armour save. Note: I can't find anywhere in the rulebook where it says that models obscured by other models recieve a cover bonus. To answer your other questi...

Re: Throwing out the mold: the merits of despecialization in crisis teams

2xFB+SG is good, as is 2xFB+Flamer. 2xMP is decent but I feel like Broadsides outperform them, and Broadsides aren't even good. Though, about the close-range build, I wouldn't combine CIBs and Plasma Rifles. CIBs are skirmishing guns that you keep at 18" range, while Plasma Rifles must be fire...

Re: Throwing out the mold: the merits of despecialization in crisis teams

Perhaps there is merit for an all-comers list? Is this different in a power level conversation? Given that Power Level doesn't charge you for weapons at all, only models, I say the conversation would be vastly different, as a single weapon Crisis costs as much as a Crisis carrying 3 of the most exp...

Re: How are you liking the new addition compared to 7th,6th,5th, and 4th

I kinda miss T'au from 5th edition. That was probably my favourite edition so far, but I do like that I can run my army however I want, so I go for a 5th edition kind of feel, with some new model love of course. I still don't like the whole "detachments" thing, and would love to see the re...

I'm happy not receiving critique on my army list as that wasn't my intention, otherwise I would have posted it in the Cadre Building boards :)

Re: Tau Commander 3x CIB + Multitracker

We're all forgetting the third source of re-roll 1s in our army. I use an Ethereal for many reasons, but one of them is its Elements abilities, one of which is re-roll 1s, making the idea of a Multi-tracker on a model with 2+ BS even more useless. I'd probably put a Multi-tracker on something that I...

Re: A'kish Vior'la Cadre

I've finished base coating the few weapons that I have yet to paint for my Crisis suits and my Riptide, and I decided to do it by brush this time, and because of this, I will probably do all my base coating by brush in the future. I instantly noticed a few advantages to base coating by brush: it app...

And this is the silliest thing I've read in a while. Go figure. :D @Panzer: Try harder to be less condescending to your peers on ATT . We, the moderation team, have been following your posts and have noted your attitude. You tend to walk a fine line of accepted and rude behaviour. ATT is a communit...

Re: Rerolls and modifiers

I call the discussion stupid because it partly comes from the problematic interaction of their quick FAQ and their Core rules while ignoring that problem. It doesn't get us anywhere? Okay, we don't have to get anywhere anymore. We've been there multiple times already but repeating the same things o...

Re: Vertical charging

I did that with my Riptide in one game. Couldn't be charged because the floor was smaller than its base, therefore no models could join him up there :)
