Re: Battlemat with city map (what to buy?)

I built myself a modular cityscape battlefield with roads. T-Sections, dead ends, crossings and if we place terrain on that we keep the roads mostly free (except for blockades or craters, debris etc.) and we do also like to play with the extended ruleset. Like more movement on the roads, while being...

Re: Why do drones have to take morale??

Protocol 1 - Save T'au (Saviour Protocol)
Protocol 2 - Save yourself (Morale)
Protocol 3 - Kill! Maim! Kill! (???)

T'au's Version of Asimov's laws?

P.s. I guess most people forget to roll for morale after using Saviour Protocols.

Re: Why do drones have to take morale??

Just think of R2D2. But not the "modern" one from Episode 1-3 but more of the classic droids.

Re: Questionable use for countefire defense system

I had in my mind rerolling ones would only be able in the shooting phase but that's actually wrong.
So, yes, you can reroll your 1s.
This raises your chance from 16.7% to 19.4% to land a hit while overwatch. If you managed to land a marker before.

Re: Why do drones have to take morale??

Losses via morale are not only guys running away of fear. They also might be carrying wounded friends away. For our drones it is a protocol to save themselves. If the losses are too high they might get off the battlefield, get repaired, refueled and their intel retrieved. It is no real self awarenes...

Re: Questionable use for countefire defense system

If I recall correctly you can't buff your BS in overwatch as it is stated to hit on 6s only.

As for the indices and codices and anything else from GW I want to say:

"I hope it is not finished yet. It still needs some work"

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

I'd even delete the "arriving from manta strike" part and make it always usable.
1 CP and you can move your battlesuit unit in the assault phase. But no advance.

Re: Are commanders undercosted?

but the SM and Chaos can do everything. Having some advantage to help take them down is mandatory. I'm afraid to play Adeptus Astartes after what I've seen. Last saturday I saw 5 Scouts with Sniper Rifles and 2 Devastors with grav cannons kill my Ghostkeel in one turn. The first took out the stealt...

Re: Sniper Drones - Amusingly Misleading Description

Just say goodbye to the picture of sniper drones hovering on the horizon and landing an ace shot right between the enemy's general's eyes.
That's not what they are. They are a solid choice if they acompany another unit.

Re: Are commanders undercosted?

Tanniith, I never said the rule-idea would be a solution, especially not on its own. And also I didn't say Commanders are broken but codices/indices without real options are. Do you think the T'au index is supposed to tell you "Hey, only spam this one unit and ignore all the other fancy things ...

Re: Pile In

I don't have my rulebook with me but doesn't the basic rules say you chose units in combat to fight until all units have fought? If he consolidates (in the combat phase) into another unit I don't see why the combat phase should end before the new "contestant" could do his punch. (It might ...

Re: Are commanders undercosted?

Broken = it does not work as intended or doesn't fulfill it's purpose. It's like going into a restaurant, choosing something from the menu and the waiter tells you everything tastes really bad except for burger #3 and beverage #7. It's no good restaurant, would not recommend. Except you like this on...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

This forum is so full of cynical pessimists.
Is no one here able to hope for the best anymore?
Is the 8th edition word for word exactly what you imagined when it was announced?

Why shouldn't Hammerheads be able to profit from a Sept rule?

And still there is no "general rule" on the table anymore saying which units have to be affected.
So my point also stands ;)
Are we even now? ^^

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

The Mars faction rule works on all units (unlike Space Marines' rules). We don't know that yet. Adeptus Mechanicus armies benefit from a powerful forge world dogma – equivalent to Legion Traits or Chapter Tactics – which apply to every unit in an Adeptus Mechanicus army, not just your infantry! The...

Re: Are commanders undercosted?

Commander spam should not be a viable option. If "spam" is the answer for a faction to be competitive in my eyes the faction is broken. Shall I show you a puppet and you tell me where I touched you inproperly? The question is if Commanders are undercosted. Compared to our own units: Yes. C...
