Re: Help with support system and xv8 atenna

Yeah the antenna on the head is just there because it's what T'au have on all their units. It also serves to show their rank ('la, 'ui, 'vre, 'o) so if you want to paint them fluffy they are kinda needed. :P

Re: 750 points patrol army

Solid advice again. I love this community! I don't intend to go WAAC on my friend, but I don't want to pull the punches. He is a veteran of other board games (just not a GW player) and he will notice if I used a deliberately bland army. I can see the point on going troop heavy, though. Actually, I ...

Re: 3D print extra parts: Stormsurge, Riptide, Piranha, ...

Piranha cover is a staple demand from people (the Forgeworld TX42 is nice but still too much unarmored in my taste). The luggage case (that I've done from a conversion shown on our board) didn't needed a piranha model to be made. I plan to do one in the future, once I will have a 3D model of the pi...

Re: 750 points patrol army

Well in my last game I lost 5 Breacher because I rolled 5 1s when my Devilfish got destroyed by a Lascannon and the remaining 4 got chopped up by a Deathwatch unit with Powerswords. :D

It even was in a 750p match as well. :P

Re: Firesight Marksman Vs Pathfinders.

Well I do think a single Marksman is great to get your first Markerlight hit on a unit to follow up with Pathfinder....but so is a Fireblade who has BS2+ and a great ability to boost your Gun Drones or Strike Teams or even just your Pathfinder Carbines for just 18p more. ^^ I admit he has no fancy s...

Re: Competitive Tau

I Really like this discussion so far... but (I don't have the index at hand, only battlescribe) the gunrig has to fire at the closest enemy, which makes it useablity drop a lot... It only has to fire at the closest target if it's unmanned. Never join rules discussions with just Battlescribe knowled...

Yeah they certainly could do that though I'd love to see them managing proper balancing without such artificial limitations.

Re: Let's Contact GW! (Round 2)

All those advantages are nice but don't mean anything if we can't take wounds off of a Character reliably. ;)

What I tried to say before is that I don't think Sniper weapons are well done for anybody except for maybe Skitarii since those don't have to rely on 6s to deal some damage.

Nop, only upsides. No reason not to take one whenever possible.

I'm with Yojimbob and Agent00abe there.
It's good to have emergency plans at hand but it's not something you should others tell as 'strategy' when talking about this unit. If you have to do something like that, the game went horribly wrong elsewhere already.

Re: Let's Contact GW! (Round 2)

I feel like all Sniper should have at least AP-2 honestly. Gambling on a 6 is always annoying and especially unfitting for sniper. The Mortal wound on 6s could stay as special bonus for some but it shouldn't be the main mechanic to deal damage with. I feel like their problem with Sniper is that the...

Re: Competitive Tau

Yeah you have to declare which weapons shoot at which targets before you start rolling so if you want to shoot with Carbines that turn you would have to risk not getting enough Markerlights.

Re: Competitive Tau

On an average turn my Gunrig is doing the same damage as Longstrike then once every so often the Gunrig does twice the damage of Longstrike. I tend to have 2 gunrigs in my list so I get better damage over an average game out of them then longstrike. For 77pts more than longstike I am getting 4 heav...

Re: Competitive Tau

Well can't argue against lucky dice I guess lol Call it luck if you want but the fact is Gunrigs have a wider damage spectrum that is twice as high as longstrike allowing you to kill more 10+ wound targets in 1 turn then Longstrike which is why I rate them so highly. It’s not going happen every tur...

Re: Competitive Tau

Double the chance per shot. That much should've been obvious. And considering that the Gunrig hits at best on 4+ re-rolling 1s while Longstrike can with less efford hit on 2+ re-rolling 1s I dare say it's still almost double the chance overall. Sure a Gunrig CAN kill a target twice as fast as Longs...
