Re: 2000 Points Competitive List

Well, combined with the Markerlights of course. You usually want to get that 5+ stack on the enemy units you already spent 3 markerlights on.

And 2 detachments is the limit present on 90% of tournaments in here, hence taking an additional one is not an option to me if I want to keep the Stormsurge.

Re: 2000 Points Competitive List

Thank you for your input Panzer, invaluable as usual. If I position my Ghostkeels wisely then unless my opponent fields insane amounts of flyers, I should be able to comfortably sit out the first turn outside of the enemy line of sight and with 12" movement I should still be able to reach my op...

2000 Points Competitive List

Greetings fellow Commanders! So far my experience with the 8th edition has been a love-hate relationship. On the one hand railguns are finally a viable option (and pack the punch I wanted them to have), Vespids and Pathfinders are useful in combat and new Markerlights system opens new tactical possi...

My, my... Fantastic job! Your cadre looks really astonishing :D Care to share with me how you made this hexagonal pattern on your Devilfish? I plan to do something very similar with my Hammerheads.

Re: [1850] Kauyon List

Yeah, your points are totally valid, however, my line of thinking was that one Broadside is enough to take a unit of light infantry easily, be it Fire Warriors, Genestealers, Imperial Guard or, most importantly, Eldar bikes. Hence by adding two Target Locks I can actually shoot at three different un...

[1850] Kauyon List

Greetings fellow Shas'O! As I have previously dwelled on the Mont'ka tactics, I have decided to give Kauyon another shot and came up with a following list: Ghostkeel Wing (393 pts): XV95 Ghostkeel Battlesuits: 2x MV5 Stealth Drone, Ghostkeel Shas'vre - Cyclic Ion Raker, twin-linked Flamer, Advanced ...

Re: Tau Upcoming Plot - Salt Necessary. Possible major spoilers beware.

If that is true, I am gravely disappointed. We already have a splinter faction which makes way more sense than simply "Tau who don't believe in the Greater Good". I really hope that guy is simply making this all up, and given all of his "spoilers" sound more like a child's story ...

The Tau Triumvirate

Greetings! As the Gathering Storm has introduced some great and important characters such as resurrected Primarch, newborn Eldar god or Arch-Magos of the Adeptus Mechanicum, I've been wondering what characters of the Tau Empire could match them in greatness and their existence would still make sense...

Re: [1850] Mont'ka List

It is actually designed for tournament plays, I don't know what made you think otherwise, that's why it's difficult for me to face some OP armies. As long as they are not 5 IK or Wolfstar/Wraithspam I can shoot them down, however, what always changes the battle for me are the Imerial Knights. Hence ...

Re: [1850] Mont'ka List

Thank you for your advise, however, I think it's better they are kept that way. 10 points per Fusion Blaster is still less, than 15 I would have to spend on Fusion Blasters for Crisis suits. It also stacks well with the Formations own Tank Hunter bonus. Plus, when you are facing 4 Imperial Knights, ...

Re: Stealth Assault Cadre - 1850pts

It seems solid and I'm very fond of OSC. I have however to ask, are you allowed to pick two Fusion Blasters in one Stealth team? As far as I know you can only have one.

Re: [1850] Mont'ka List

Given I've had a chance to try the list out, I've had to make a few tweaks. First of all, I put my Retaliation Cadre into a Dawn Blade Contingent to get those neat to wound and penetration hit re-rolls. Secondly, I had to ditch the Earth Caste Pilot Array, as it was too costly and had to drop one Cr...

A Broadside is always a solid source of firepower. Or, if you feel like saving, you could buy a Riptide.

full time law degree doesn't leave a whole lot of leisure time unfortunately Oh, I know that pain all too well fam. So first of all, welcome to the Greater Good, Commander! :D As Ifrit has already pointed out, you shouldn't equip your Ethereal with neither Hover Drone nor Honour Blade. While sure, ...

Re: Coming back in 7th for casual play at 850

Pretty much what Ifrit said. You gave your Ethereal a close combat weapon. Are you sure you want to fight an enemy in assault with your Ethereal? While Recon Armour has some uses (though not that many, bear in mind, it's still only 5+), neither Honour Blade nor Hover Drone will be of much, if any, u...

Re: New to 40k and Tau

Start with 750, that's the best option for a beginner. If you're going for a Combined Arms Detachment, which is the standard one, you have to pick one HQ and two Troops, and then you can add some additional units in form of Elites, Fast Attack, Heavy Support, another HQ or more Troops. HQ are usuall...

Re: 1000 points Retaliation Cadre + Optimized Stealth Cadre

Yeah, seems solid to me, though I have a few more tips. First things first, I'm afraid you have made a mistake in the points cost on your Commander, because Commander alone is 85 points, C&C Node and MSSS are 35 combined, so the total points cost would be 120. Unless you equipped him with a Flam...
