Re: None GW models played as.......

Yup, Eldar bikes would be really easy to ally in. There are a couple other detachments that, like the assassins, don't rely on the normal CAD/Allied Detachment, but nothing that would fit jetbikes as well as an Eldar CAD/Allied detachment.

Re: None GW models played as.......

As Panzer said your units would have to be part of a detachment. However, all you need for an allied detachment is one HQ and one troop choice- so an Autarch on a jetbike and a unit of three jetbikes would fit the bill just fine. :) Otherwise you could have a CAD with an Autarch on jetbike for your ...

Re: None GW models played as.......

Da-Rock, as long as it is with friends and they are cool with it, I see no reason to not use it as anything you'd like (within reason, of course). :) You could run some allied Eldar jetbikes (the horror! ;) ), you could use them as the various alternate gun-drone profiles (heavy gun drones, for inst...

Re: Is this List OP?

No worries Guges, as Panzer said your list was not particularly broken. Honestly, I think it was a solid list, but definitely not OP. Sounds like the terminator guy was just looking for an excuse to bring his terminators and you, unfortunately, got to be the one to be singled out to experience his c...

Re: How do you actually deal with AV14 ?

The Y'vahra is probably the single-best anti-armor unit we have, barring none, and a single one of them will tear through single Land Raiders and such with little problem (as long as it is properly supported). Two of them make armor lists cry. :) Unicorn is definitely right- the Stormsurge will put ...

Re: Feel no pain and how to overcome it

Hmm, that's true about the Death Company shredding Riptides if they are equipped with that many THammers/Power Fists- I was not aware of their golden rule. ;) I do agree about the overcharged Ion Accelerator- it will wipe them out in droves. Honestly the Death Company is a massive unit (easy to shoo...

Re: Feel no pain and how to overcome it

Really depends on what you have/are fielding, Meshuggah. For instance, if you have a Stormsurge with Pule Driver Cannon- two or three markerlights and one pie-plate later, splat, there went most of that 20-man blob without armor or feel no pain saves (due to double strength and Instant Death). ;) Ho...

Re: New army is almost here, now what

The one other thing that is highly important with Tau is positioning (which we tend to forget a lot when simply talking shop). Actually, it might be the most important thing for us. See, it's all well and good to have massive guns that simply delete enemy units, but when one model of that enemy deat...

Re: Riptide Unit & Nova Thrust Move

I would agree with your interpretation Panzer, but I'm not a rules expert. ;) Logically though, it makes sense that you would roll separately for each if you selected the jump move for one and main weapon for the other.

Re: New to Tau and 40K - Help appreciated

In the Fast Attack section- since you have the Drone Network, you don't need the extra markerlights in the the form of two more marker drone squads and the pathfinder squad- that saves you some 150-160 points. Otherwise I would pull the homing beacons and fusion blasters from the two stealth squads,...

Re: New army is almost here, now what

You're welcome! :) Well, if you want infantry you can take either the Kroot or Firewarriors. However, the important thing to keep in mind with either of them is that for your large suits they are primarily bubble wrap, or screening units. That isn't to say they can't put out damage- they can- but th...

Re: New to Tau and 40K - Help appreciated

Zlatan, welcome to the greater good! And 40k. ;) I'll mainly comment on the 1850 list, as your 850 list is solid for friendly games and such. :) Since you're looking at mainly seeing more hard-core competitive lists in the 1850 games, my thoughts are as follows- 1. OSC- bring three Ghostkeels. This ...

Re: New army is almost here, now what

Meshuggah, welcome to tabletop 40k! :) With the models you have, Orks don't really have a prayer once you gain some experience with the best way to run your army. Most 'Nid builds will crumple too, with the exception of Flying Hive Tyrant Spam. Blood Angels could be a problem, but even they will fal...

Re: 1850 Tau - Haven't played since 5th - HELP!

Thing with the Y'vahra is that if your opponent doesn't require everything to be fully WYSIWYG, you could pick one up and have it stand-in for a normal Riptide if they are unwilling to let the FW profile in. For all intents and purposes it has the same dimensions as a normal Riptide (and in my exper...

Ooh, Jhin's theme, that's fun. I've been looking for a more challenging rendition of Summoner's Call for a while now, still looking. Lots of pretty music in League. :)

Excellent! Best of luck to you in your endeavors against the DA! ;)

Re: The Academy Project

I agree with Nic- as much as I have really enjoyed the Academy Articles (both writing current and reading past) I think that at the present it would not be a particularly effective use of our efforts to write up everything for 7th ED only to have 8th come out in the next few months.

Re: Greetings, fellow Tau!

Theclockworkjedi, Welcome to ATT! :)

It was the original Broadside model that got me into Tau, so I hear ya on the big guns. For those pesky 'Nids, best thing I can recommend is more templates. ;) Or Ghostkeels. A full squad of Ghostkeels with Ion Rakers makes 'Nids cry.

Welcome to ATT, Nagito Komaeda. :)

A fellow pianist! Very nice, what's your favorite piece at the moment? Best of luck to you in stomping the Dark Angels, may the plasma be with you. ;)
