Re: Confused by magnets!

The 1mm thick magnets I find to be on the weak side, which is why I use the 3x2 sized ones. (Rather than the 3x1) You can double them up which will help increase the grip a bit but it may not bee quite as strong as just using a thicker magnet. While they can be pretty strong for their size they aren...

Re: Confused by magnets!

4: the resin parts aren't any heavier than the GW plastics and they aren't quite as dense so they are probably a bit lighter but I haven't weighed them on an electronic scale as it's never come up before. I've used 2x3mm round magnets on all my suits and they hold the weapons just fine regardless of...

Re: Kill Team & Other Conversions

Wow, that Ion gun is an absolute beauty!! Edit: I just checked the website- the 'coming soon' 3D drawing image makes the gun look significantly different from the resin cast you showed- much shorter, almost snub-nosed. Was that an alternate version you had planned, or something else? The same model...

Re: Kill Team & Other Conversions

Fresh off the printer, Ion Energy Blaster v 2.0 which will be going up on the website late Aug. I reduced the overall scale and also reduced the bulk on the front end. It's been tied it together with the rear housing design used on my other weapons to give it better visual synergy with the rest of t...

Re: Kill Team & Other Conversions

They are very close in size, so it should work well on the old style xv-15s.

Re: Kill Team & Other Conversions

Grr, photobucket has killed their free hosting so all my pics are down. I'm linking to some of my facebook pics and hopefully that will work ok. After a week of pulling out all my hair fiddling with the printer I have some test prints of the jet pack that are looking pretty solid, they also make for...

Re: Cyclic ion blasters

The resin is fairly rigid in terms of holding it's shape and will take to drilling and magnets just fine. But it is a bit softer than GW plastic, you can sand, file ,or cut it pretty much the same as plastic but use a little bit less pressure and use a fine grit file or sand paper as rough grit will...

Re: Kill Team & Other Conversions

I finally have open access to a 3d printer, woot! This was the very first print I did. I'm still a super new person on the software and I got lucky that it printed out correctly but I'm really happy with the results so far. The white stuff is frosting just below the surface from the cleaner but it d...

Re: Modelling the 4x Fusion Blaster Commander

I did mine like this using a standard suit, I'll probably remake it with a commander body. They also work pretty well with an over the shoulder mount, the resin parts are from http://www.RedDogMInis.com

Re: Kill Team Conversions

The packs will be ready mid-july, waiting on the printer to get back from vacation. Pics and info will be posted as soon as I have them. Right before that I was able to squeak these in under the wire. I revised the back banners to correct a couple minor issues to make it easier to cast and be a bit ...

I have something for a weapon option underway.

Re: [WIP] Spec Ops Tau - SWA Kill Team

Since SWA allows for a gunslinger I've been thinking about how I'd want to do a build for it and I wanted something that reminds me of Cad Bane from the Clone Wars series. After digging through a number of cowboy models I could use as a base I settled on the gunslinger model from Icarus, but unfortu...

Re: [WIP] Spec Ops Tau - SWA Kill Team

I did some more tinkering with the burst cannon mount, the earlier version I thought looked a bit Guppy like and a bit rounded in the belly. Tried a new take on it to see if a slightly flatter dome would help. It pushes the burst cannon forward a bit which could make it slightly more aggressive look...

Re: [WIP] Spec Ops Tau - SWA Kill Team

I decided to put the Recon drone to the knife and shortened the cylinder, just leaving the end to act as a turret mount for the burst cannon. What would also work is to use the chin turret from a Piranha as I did some test fitting and it's almost the same exact size. It's about 1mm wider but it'd pa...

[WIP] Spec Ops Tau - SWA Kill Team

Tossing my hat in the ring with SWA as I've been waiting almost 20 years for 40k to have this sort of format. Kill Team has been close but it's also a bit wonky with their unit construction and using the Necromunda rules set as the foundation is a major win IMO. SWA will give me ample opportunity to...
