Re: Riptide sized flamer

As mentioned above you can remove the pins to alter the stock pose. I didn't make any other modifications besides adding a round base instead of the stock oval base. A while back I bought several of the 120mm bases from the Privateer Press website, Proxie Models also makes round 120mm base. Adjustin...

Re: Anyone Going to LVO or Adepticon

Adepticon is local for me so I go pretty much every year. Since it requires painted armies i never play but I go to check out the vendors and see all the cool armies on display. I keep telling myself that next year I'll actually get an army painted but so far I haven't managed that and it's been 8 y...

Yes I design the model in a 3d CAD program, then I have it 3d printed to make the physical model.

Re: Riptide sized flamer

I do most of my more recent sculpting in a 3d program now because it offers a high level of precision that's very hard to match by hand. (but not impossible) I did a lot of hand sculpted stuff for years so that helps develop the artistic eye which carries through in almost every aspect of modelling ...

Riptide sized flamer

A set of the 3d parts I sculpted for Red Dog Minis. Tsunami heavy flamethrower & a dual barrel blaster. Test fit using sticky-tac, I will be equipping it with magnets for swapability. https://scontent.ford1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/26992389_1641449282578871_1198625865454146021_n.jpg?oh=720e13409...

Re: [Review] Red Dog Miniatures Ion Weapons - Fantastic Models!

Unfortunately there's always a few people like Panzer who will always feel the need to complain about something regardless of the situation. Even if we could magically teleport it through the screen for free there'd still be some other random reason for them to be toxic and unhappy, if it's not the...

Re: [Review] Red Dog Miniatures Ion Weapons - Fantastic Models!

Can I ask you a photo of both the GW one and the red dog one side by side ? Here's a picture of one alongside a GW CIB: https://scontent.ford1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/23621448_1570593639664436_4240597749878828385_n.jpg?oh=a19451ae1e2d9f3dd81d9ac60c3a1f85&oe=5AA9C1D2 As for the shipping cost, i...

Re: Revised head design 3D

Stop taking those crazy pills :P The new suits are about 10-15% smaller than the old ones. The old ones were 54-55mm tall and the new ones are under 50mm depending on the pose, the irridium armor version when posed completely upright is a hair under 50mm and the standard torso ones come in at about ...

Re: Revised head design 3D

Rhino or Zbrush depending on what I'm sculpting. You can just as easily use blender or sketch up if you want freeware programs. Pretty much any basic 3d program will let you build printable stuff and most of the advanced features are meant for animation and rendering so there's no need for a high en...

Revised head design 3D

I'm working on re-scaling and cleaning up the head designs I made years ago. They used to fit the old styled suits fairly well but looks like giant bobble heads on the new style suits since the current range is smaller. Here's what I was toying with, I have a second set of heads printing atm that ar...

Re: Greenstuff + bluestuff= lots of CIBs

Brownstuff will tend to keep sharper edges and better details than greenstuff, same material but slightly different formula so it tends to set up slightly harder. I know people who also use a combination of greenstuff/brownstuff and apoxie sculpt blended together (or miliput). You'll likely need 4-6...

Re: Confused by magnets!

The 1mm thick magnets I find to be on the weak side, which is why I use the 3x2 sized ones. (Rather than the 3x1) You can double them up which will help increase the grip a bit but it may not bee quite as strong as just using a thicker magnet. While they can be pretty strong for their size they aren...

Re: Confused by magnets!

4: the resin parts aren't any heavier than the GW plastics and they aren't quite as dense so they are probably a bit lighter but I haven't weighed them on an electronic scale as it's never come up before. I've used 2x3mm round magnets on all my suits and they hold the weapons just fine regardless of...

Re: Kill Team & Other Conversions

Wow, that Ion gun is an absolute beauty!! Edit: I just checked the website- the 'coming soon' 3D drawing image makes the gun look significantly different from the resin cast you showed- much shorter, almost snub-nosed. Was that an alternate version you had planned, or something else? The same model...

Re: Kill Team & Other Conversions

Fresh off the printer, Ion Energy Blaster v 2.0 which will be going up on the website late Aug. I reduced the overall scale and also reduced the bulk on the front end. It's been tied it together with the rear housing design used on my other weapons to give it better visual synergy with the rest of t...

They are very close in size, so it should work well on the old style xv-15s.

Re: Kill Team & Other Conversions

Grr, photobucket has killed their free hosting so all my pics are down. I'm linking to some of my facebook pics and hopefully that will work ok. After a week of pulling out all my hair fiddling with the printer I have some test prints of the jet pack that are looking pretty solid, they also make for...
