Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Railguns are perfectly fine rules wise, it's just an issue of points cost. The Railgun is a bit overcosted, all the other Rail weapons are significantly overcosted Getting a grinding advance style rule (double shot at half movement) is still likely to happen, so we should still effectively get doub...

Re: Tau A.I. and engram nuerochips

At the moment we have drones being able to act on the battlefield like sentient soldiers. Why should you improve the AI to a point where it really starts thinking on his own and at the end even thinks about disobeying orders? I don't think it would really be a danger, if you keep the AI focused eno...

Re: Tau A.I. and engram nuerochips

And linked to this... Why isn't Tau AI more advanced and why don't we see more of it? Even if we assume it was at not too advanced levels in 7th edition, you might expect to the technology have advanced a long way in the ~150 years since then. (In comparison, look at how far we've come in roughly 80...

Re: 40k as Post-Apocalyptic Narrative - Are Tau the "Good Guys"?

This is what we know about the Tau Empire, in terms of government: - Caste system with one dominant, governing caste - Meritocratic social rank within caste - No representative democracy - Sovereignty based on non-religious spiritualism - State control of industry and economy - Civilian control of ...

Re: Own personal sept fluff

That was my idea, going for a Tron suit-like paint job, and wanted some fluff to back it up. I suppose another option is that they colonised a planet really far out in the system (Pluto?) and so next to no light gets to it. Could do it for a unique resource found only on that planet. But then that ...

Re: Own personal sept fluff

What if the planet orbited the star very distantly, and when the star died out, exploded, collapsed, or decayed (or maybe was sucked into the Great Rift?), the planet ended up outside the it's former sun's gravity well, spinning off into extra-solar space under the influence of it's old orbital mom...

Re: Own personal sept fluff

One such manipulation of the Immaterium created a small, brief, but altogether fatal warp portal within the T'ron system's star, causing it to go supernova. This caused the system to be flung apart, and the colony sped off into deep space. I think that a star going supernova would pretty much alway...

Re: Demon counter list 2000pts

Given that daemons lack any significant armour saves, I don't think there's much point in a fusion commander over a quad cyclic ion blaster one. When they're both overcharging, the CIB will get double the shots (8 vs 4), they will both be S8 and the CIB does slightly over half the damage (2 vs 3.5)....

Hmm maybe... I'm not sure Guilliman needs to be part of the list though, he could very well have ordered them off on a mission without going on it himself. Either way, it's your choice though ! :P

Re: Riptide support systems (new player)

Considering farsight enclaves is a thing, I wouldn't be surprised if there were rogue tau working as mercs. Possibly very rarely, like a sub-faction of the enclaves have become so far removed from the greater good that they're willing to rent out their services. I would imagine that they are about ...

Re: The Y'Vahra - A tactica

It can definitely fire both, I think someone got the info from FW a few months ago. That said though, when the Y'vahra's 8th Edition rules came out, I was sure they were a mistake. I mean, the Riptide's Nova Charge can be best described as a modest improvement over the originl profile. The Y'vahra'...

I know the whole Idea was one of the starting premises of this thread. I'm really interested to hear people's thoughts on these types of builds and explore different variations, but I feel like it deserves it's own thread, with a dedicated primer. I wrote down some of my thoughts, but I'm not reall...

Re: 2000Pt List vs Blood Angels

I have a couple of specific questions: - I have favoured Shield Drones over Gun drones because I don't think Gun Drones are effective enough against MEQ to sacrifice the defensive benefit of Shield Drones - is this a good decision? - I sacrificed a QFB Commander for a Coldstar Commander, so that th...

Re: It it worth it to field small numbers of vehicles?

I've had a surprising amount of success running 3 Devilfish loaded with pathfinders/breachers. Largely, it is the redundancy of running three of the same tank. I also use an Y'vahra, and that often takes the heat of my opponent's main guns, especially for the first turn. Clever opponents gun for th...

Re: Revisiting Mechanized Gun Drones

I'm a little confused by some of the numbers to be honest, particularly with the crisis suits. Redoing the same examples as gunrock (or at least until I get bored): 10 Gun Drones , 1ML(80points): 40 shots to 15.56 hits to 10.37 wounds to 8.64 kills, 9.26ppk 10 drones, Fireblade, 1ML (122 points): 60...
