Re: Playing against Grey Knights 1000 pts, please help

I'll throw in my two cents here. You're playing against an army that's famously elite, and uses a mix of medium infantry, Dreadnoughts, and tanks. Over 50% of your army is anti-tank. Was that intentional? You may want to have a little more anti-elite firepower (Plasma Rifles for the regular Marines...

Re: Playing against Grey Knights 1000 pts, please help

Ok, I missread the Assault weapon rule. Target lock seems pretty useless now :)

The idea was to be as far as I can from his units, that's why I wanted to use Missile pods and Target lock to be able to move, advance and shoot without penalty. I suppose ATS and not advancing is a better option.

Re: Playing against Grey Knights 1000 pts, please help

Thanks for the suggestions. Using Plasma opened enough points for a Pathfinder or Stealth team.

ATT Battle reports recap

A little bit of spare time at job so I took a swift look at the battle reports posted here for the 8th edition. I wanted to see how we played our battles and what is the numbers of wins, draws and looses. That's the results: Battles fought: 22 Wins: 15 Draws: 2 Lost: 5 We won against: Space Wolves, ...

Re: Tau (Vior'la and T'au) vs Space Marines - 900 points

Just to finish the whole thing in style I played once more against the same opponent, but this time 750 points. After the second round he surrendered. Tau forces: Longstrike - Ion Canon + 2xSMS Cadre Fireblade Firewarriors - 8x Pulse rifle Commander - 4x Fusion + 2 Gun drones 3 XV8 - 2x CIB + Counte...

Re: Tau (Vior'la and T'au) vs Space Marines - 900 points

I really want to try the Droneport with 4 Marker drones and a Fireblade to shoot all the markers at bs2+. If a little bit lucky with the first shot (not a 1), then it's almost sure that there will be 5 markers.

Tau (Vior'la and T'au) vs Space Marines - 900 points

Mission: Contact Lost Why 900? Because I still don't have enough models so I used all I have + some from a friend and we didn't used detachments for the same reason. I also proxied some models. This was my first 8th ed. game and I enjoyed a lot. However, my forces was: Commander: 4xFusion + 2x Gun d...

Re: Mission 407

MIssed this somehow, top stuff, throwing down the proverbial gauntlet. How goes the campaign!? :D Thanks! The campaign ended because in the meanwhile the 8th edition was published and we were unable to gahter together again to continue the campaign. This was just a test for a big campaign that I'm ...

Re: Mission 407

Since all of us were busy for work in the last couple of months, and we don't know when all of us will gather again to end the mission AND 8th edition came out in the meanwhile, we somehow agreed that the mission is over with a brilliant win of the Tau forces. The Vior'la forces helped the exiled Fa...

Re: What follows Deep Striking...

After Deep Striking the movement phase ends. So obviously no advancing or normal moving. What you can do however is charging after the shooting phase if you wish to. I mean the Manta Strike special rule literally says "at the end of the movement phase". ;) But you can use Mont'ka on deep ...

Re: Markerlight shooting and timing

If you decide to do the fast dice rolling with your Markerlights, you actively decide to not use the first Markerlight bonus you might would have with some of them. But that doesn't make any sense. How can the same unit benefit from their own markerlights, but only if they shoot it in a different s...

Re: Markerlight shooting and timing

I think the best thing to do is to roll one die. Then if you hit the target and have one marker on it just roll all the remaining dice at once and re-roll the 1's. If you don't hit the target with the first die roll the second and do this until you hit the target.

Re: New 8th FAQ

We were also talking about auras and whether the buff the whole unit (just need one model to bi inside the aura range) or only the models that is in range. Not sure, but I think there is the answer: Q. Lots of aura abilities say they grant an ability to nearby units that are within range of any such...

Re: Volley Fire, Models and Units

Mont'ka: Friendly T'AU EMPIRE units within 6" can both advance and shoot as if they hadn't moved this turn. So? Would you PLEASE read the earlier posts before trying to argue? I really don't feel like repeating myself when it's just 1-2 pages back even. Also this is not even an argument, it's ...

Re: Volley Fire, Models and Units

I think this is a classic case of bad written rule. If they wanted units to be affected they could write "Units within 6", if they wanted models they could write "models within 6" and that's it. It would be clear. Wouldn't? Edit: What does it even means "models in units&quo...
