Re: High potential understrengths?

It's kind of rule bending because it's a Pathfinder unit with added Drones as wargear, not a real mixed unit imo. That's like trying to have a Homing Beacon without the Stealth Suits. Well, they are a mixed unit. Drones a not listed as (optional) wargear but as regular models right at the top of th...

Re: High potential understrengths?

Any other potential (ab)uses of under-strength units, other than the obvious uses? Bring Pathfinder Support Drones without any Pathfinder to support them. Pathfinder are literally just 40p and for that they offer great utility. There is no point in trying to bend the rules just so you can save thos...

Homing Beacon

Short and simple: What's its size?

Is it a point?
Is it a 40mm base?
Is it as big as I want it to be? (Just kidding)

Re: Possible Shield Drone Errata Change?

Ok. Lets switch this to a railgun because im mot familiar with las as much I would normally get a dice. Say i roll 6. Then i get d3 mortal wounds Soooo. Do i have the potential to get 1 mortal wound. Rolling for a 6 but not caring if i get a 1-5 because its a 1 wound model. Then getting a d3. That ...

Re: 8th edition crisis suits

Seems like this would be the best place to ask this question.... I've watched a few bat reps now and I am pretty scared of swarm lists. I'm thinking of running two 5 man squads of XV8 Crisis Battlesuit Teams with three flamers on each suit with a few drones for ablative wounds and possibly markerli...

Re: The run to 8th edition

Since I no longer have access to the core rule leaks:

Is there any rule at all that prevents boni from stacking? Cos, well ... Ghosts can bring 3 Drone Controllers which means Gun Drones would hit on 2+ ...

Re: Simple questions about 8th Drones.

@1 Sry, don't have access to the rulebook right now and I am not sure how it is worded, can't help you there. @2 Saviour Protocol allows you to allocate wounds to a Drone within 3". How much damage single wound does, depends on the weapon. Most weapons have a damage score of 1, meaning that 1 W...

Re: The run to 8th edition

Just a random thought based on the BatReps I've seen so far:
Why don't people use Photon Grenades more often? Every Firewarrior and Pathfinder unit has them and people still go for Pulse Rifles/Carbines/Blasters exclusively. -1 to hit saves more of your guys than killing maybe one enemy model.

Re: 8th Edition Tau pros and cons / consensus

Your points are a little off, but otherwise I like the idea. The Fireblade is 42 points because of the markerlight. The Pathfinders are 72 points for the same reason. The Stealthsuits are 95 points because of their burst cannons. So your list core is 263. But I like it. Ah, damn it, Totally forgot ...

Re: 8th Edition Tau pros and cons / consensus

I really like our new Gun Drones. With a little bit of support, they can be quite deadly and protect our other troops as well. I can see me bring * [64] 8 Gun Drones * [42] 1 Cadre Fireblade * [95] 3 Ghosts, one with a Drone Controller * [72] 5 Pathfinders with 2 Shield Drones, 1 Pulse Drone, 1 Grav...

Ted the Tau wrote:Photon Grenades in Overwatch are indeed unlikely, but if you have a buffer unit in place, you can throw them on 4+ in your folloing shooting phase.

Their effect only last until the end of the turn. Throwing them diring your own Shooting Phase sadly doesnt work.

Re: Tau Combos in 8th edition

The core rule book section on weapon types specifies that when a model in a unit uses its ranged attack to throw a grenade, it cannot fire any other weapons that turn. So the same model can't throw grenades and shoot its pulse rifle, but only one model with the unit really needs to throw grenades s...
