Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Someone mentioned Astra Militarum, but my understanding is that Human nobles have some sort of immortality juice they give out to people they like. I suppose T'au could get something like that for the vets, but I largely suspect it was just GW handwaving and ignoring the issue, and I largely suspec...

Re: Mordians

I wonder if using individual Piranha would work. They will get wounded by the lasguns on a 5+, hit on a 5+, and if destroyed still potentially leave a pair of gundrones behind, or can ditch the drones when nearby to be able to charge two sets of units.

Re: Ranged Superiority: How much would you be willing to pay?

But I still don't use Hammerheads or Broadsides. Why? They just don't do enough damage per turn to be relied on for removing the targets need to be tasked with. I would happily pay more points/PL for a higher wounds per turn. Due to range, I would be happy to pay 125% more for 110% more wounds per ...

Re: Ranged Superiority: How much would you be willing to pay?

I am gonna throw my 2 cents in on this. So I play PL, as opposed to points. This means I don't usually get into the weeds of points per wound and stuff. Also, as a generally narrative player I have more flexibility than your average tournament player, since its rarely going to be a super competitive...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

We might get new character model though, and I am really hoping we get non-T'au sept Longstrike, as this is something I really dislike about the current keywords, if you want to play tanks, you need to play T'au sept, also it's about time longstrike's suit is put into production for other septs Thi...

Re: Ukrainian battlesuits

Those are pretty cool looking! They look hybridized with Stealth Suits. I might see if I can homebrew some Stealth rules for them.

Re: "Free" fortifications in missions

Well, you pay something for the Units and fortifications are free (So, you can have a Fortress of Redemption, Imperial Bastion, Aegis Defence Line, and/or a Shieldwall). I do recommend giving Planetstrike a try; it is a rather fun format. Although if you are the Defender you have to field the "...

Re: "Free" fortifications in missions

For one, the cost of getting that would be exceedingly prohibitive. Like in real money. For two, firestorm attacks as stated (though those are less of an issue if you are in the building itself). For three, the armies are decided after the mission is called, and there is no set PL limit. The mission...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Oh, that's good. I'll try to convince them when I visit them in march. Good luck! Those missions are a lot of fun. If you have lots of building terrain or Tidewalls I would suggest one of the Stronghold Assault missions that include the Meatgrinder rule. Especially against Orks. That should be a bl...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Then it is not a GW thing to fix but your meta.... They argue that PL is good for some armies and horrible for others. Specifically the ones with few upgrade options like orks. And I don't like open play either. I like narrative play. I would still like to have an option to use illegal units in my ...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

In fact, I am going to shamelessly plug a thread I have been working on that details the differences between Matched and Open/Narrative Play. http://www.advancedtautactica.com/viewtopic.php?f=52&t=26937 Open and Narrative play missions are picked BEFORE anything else with the game. Pick a missio...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Uh... You can do that though. You don't HAVE to run a battleforged army. You only have to do that if you want to use CP. So that would be the penalty for divergence. My friends only play matched play. They are more competitive than I would like. Then it is not a GW thing to fix but your meta.... I ...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

But it’s still not fun for you to not be able to combine your army with any other. I made a couple tau imperial knights that I can’t legally use in a game and it pisses me off. If any army could be combined with any other, with penalties for divergence, it would not only be great for us, since we w...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

The only community here is basically nothing but torunament players or preps for tournament play there is no narrative play or anything else. It really sucks. Hence why I'm so mad when all my armies are so bad this edition. Well, if you play with people often you can ask them ahead of time if they ...

Re: An Appeal for Jump-Shoot-Jump

Ok, so first off I would like to say that I disagree with the return of JSJ. This feeling comes primarily as a player of IG during previous editions and having to fight against it. The mechanic is exceedingly frustrating. So stepping back from my emotions on this one, is there precedent for it, and ...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

For all those complaining that T'au are unplayable, and that we are hated because we didn't get points adjustments, etc... Don't play Matched Play until the codex drops. We do fantastic in most Narrative and Open game modes using our Index and the extra Chapter Approved rules. This is still a game, ...

Nice one, Arka!

Sounds like unsupported Nids are very vulnerable to our guns. Also kinda sounds like the CIB Crisis really did well.

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

So Custodes it is and then Thousands Sons https://www.warhammer-community.com/2018/01/06/new-year-new-armies-reveals-new-years-open-day/ I really wish they would have left Custodes the elite small force they have been, instead of expand them like it sounds like they want to do. I think the Imperium...
