Re: The everchanging game: FAQs and Updates

...as well as the nerf the psychic phase and smite spam. Currently, it's only a phase where T'au suffer, so any nerf to Psychic is a Tau buff. Less Smite will be great for us. However, some armies rely on smite, and this basically ruins smite past the third cast. I'm glad to see Psychic armies take...

Re: Let's Contact GW! (Round 3)

I only play Narrative and Open Play games, not Matched Play, so no points. But I will usually have 1-2 Fireblades in each detachment, and I will usually run two Vanguard Marker detachments, at least one Pathfinder Outrider detachment, and one or two Fire Warrior Battalion detachments at 100 PL, whi...

Re: Let's Contact GW! (Round 3)

Pathfinders have become special weapons support in most of my lists, with Fireblades and Firesight Marksman being my primary marker sources. I don't think I have ever used a marker drone. I have a couple with my Stealth Suit unit and I tuck two in with my Crisis Suit unit just in case they have to ...

Re: Let's Contact GW! (Round 3)

I agree completely. My current list now feels markerlight heavy, so I'm experimenting with removing some marker drones and adding in a couple of Firesight Marksmen in their place. Combined with a Fireblade, a unit of markerlight Pathfinders, some scattered in Firewarior squads and Uplinked Markerli...

Re: Let's Contact GW! (Round 3)

I may be the voice of dissent here, but I have no issues with markerlights or the current markerlights table. In the games I have played, I have pretty easily been able to tag priority targets with 3-5 hits, while still tagging secondary targets with 1 hit each. This is usually enough coverage for m...

Re: Breachers and how to use them

Breachers can be user powerful in both the attacking and defending side of Planetstrike and Stronghold Assault. On the attacking side of Planetstrike, they gain a 6 inch deep strike. On the defending side, enemies charging fortifications do not count as locked in combat and can still be fired upon. ...

Thanks for your help :fear:

per page 88 of the CA book, Unnamed characters only, so: Commander, Ethereal and Cadre Fireblade.

Laughably, the farsight marksman also qualifies.

As does the Kroot Shaper.

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

So conclusion is that if Railgun will be changed to Heavy 2 it will make more sense compered to Predator or Onager and to have it Heavy 3 will start to create real threat. But question is if we have seen anywhere that GW has increased number of shots (excluding twin weapons) ? Fire twice is somethi...

Re: T'au in Narrative and Open Play

Updated with Blitz and Sabotage. And thanks, Nic, for the input! I would suggest giving the games a try without the matched play limits. It really changes the way this missions play. And yeah, I was kinda hoping that Chapter Approved would weigh in on how alternate deployments work in Narrative Miss...

Re: T'au in Narrative and Open Play

Consolidated the first three Narrative Mission breakdowns into the top of the thread and created placeholders for Planetstrike and Stronghold Assault.

Also, is anyone finding these breakdowns userful? Or have anything else to add to them?

Wow, that looks like a solid route. Good job! At some point you should make a post about those buildings too, they look awesome.

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

What if rail weapons penetrated and hit occupants? Something like this for the Railgun: "On a wound roll of 6 do an additional d3 mortal wounds. If the target has the TRANSPORT keyword and has units embarked than on a wound roll of 5+ also do d6 mortal wounds to the embarked unit." The hea...

Re: T'au in Narrative and Open Play

I just played an Apocalypse game at 500 PL. The biggest thing, as you noted, is unlimited use of stratagems. It's not hard to get 20+ command points and thus being able to reroll all key saves on a Stormsurge or Supremacy armour. It also means we can use 'Markerlight Uplink' as much as we want. I w...

Re: T'au in Narrative and Open Play

Looking at the missions, it seems like Tau will have an advantage in anything really aggressive- if the rules give bonuses to quick units with good firepower (like in Meat Grinder) we can really multiply our shooting advantage in close range. However, as in missions like Patrol, anything that messe...

Re: Balancing turn one

If you are playing primarily with friends, you may want to try some of the Narrative missions. Missions that include Dawn Raid, or any from the Planetstrike or Stronghold defense game modes do a lot to offset the alpha strike issue.

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

So the Fire Prism may be a good example of what we can expect. Overall they are very similar platforms. Same Toughness, only a difference of 1 wound. Fire Prisms have slightly longer move, but the weapon is shorter range as well. It has a single fire weapon with high Strength, high AP, and d6 Damag...
