Re: saviour protocols with shield drones

Yes, they traded the less confusing fewer rule system of USR's (universal special rules) to a more complex very individual and specific to each unit ruling in the name of simplifying the game. :-? Very confused why they couldn't continue with USR's and just MODIFY each one if they want things to be...

Re: An Appeal for Jump-Shoot-Jump

Yeah, there don't seem to be any abilities like that, which is how the game was designed- 7th Edition went crazy with free Drop Pods, transports, and Daemons, and now we're back to paying for every model in matched play, as it should be I think. I have a related doubt; when a Marine's Doctor (I don...

Re: An Appeal for Jump-Shoot-Jump

By that logic, reinforcements shouldn't multiply drones and yet they do. Just because you didn't pay for something doesn't mean some weird game mechanic can't give it to you for free. I don't think anything multiplies drones. With the exception of abilities that specifically give you models for fre...

Well, the Custodes strategem specifies a specific unit. So it would make sense to make Monat only apply to Crisis suits or something.

Re: An Appeal for Jump-Shoot-Jump

If we assume that mont'ka and kau'yon will become stratagems, JSJ could always be a monat thing: Monat (???CP) Chose a unit with a single model and less than 10 wounds That unit can move, shoot, move, shoot, move, shoot I'd pay 5 CP for that I imagine if we get anything Monat like it will be closer...

Re: saviour protocols with shield drones

It's all explained in the FAQ. Just did not know that this 5+ save is this FNP-Rule. But thank you for pointing it out. :D Only shield drones have a FNP. Thanks Wes for the Explanation. Now I got it :fear: If you are a new player this can be very confusing. The FNP thing is jargon from previous edi...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

So based on todays Community post, looks like Custodes are getting a strategem for a pair of Land Raiders that lets them ignore negative To Hit modifiers for 1 CP. I am hoping that is signs of things to come for us. Would be kinda an awesome thing for Broadsides.

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

The rest of the comment seems somewhat...explosive...so I'll avoid posting it directly, for now. But those who are expecting or anticipating stat changes to the T'au should probably trim those expectations. If it's explosive that's even better, more food for discussion. Post away! Think this is wha...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Someone mentioned Astra Militarum, but my understanding is that Human nobles have some sort of immortality juice they give out to people they like. I suppose T'au could get something like that for the vets, but I largely suspect it was just GW handwaving and ignoring the issue, and I largely suspec...

Re: Mordians

I wonder if using individual Piranha would work. They will get wounded by the lasguns on a 5+, hit on a 5+, and if destroyed still potentially leave a pair of gundrones behind, or can ditch the drones when nearby to be able to charge two sets of units.

Re: Ranged Superiority: How much would you be willing to pay?

But I still don't use Hammerheads or Broadsides. Why? They just don't do enough damage per turn to be relied on for removing the targets need to be tasked with. I would happily pay more points/PL for a higher wounds per turn. Due to range, I would be happy to pay 125% more for 110% more wounds per ...

Re: Ranged Superiority: How much would you be willing to pay?

I am gonna throw my 2 cents in on this. So I play PL, as opposed to points. This means I don't usually get into the weeds of points per wound and stuff. Also, as a generally narrative player I have more flexibility than your average tournament player, since its rarely going to be a super competitive...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

We might get new character model though, and I am really hoping we get non-T'au sept Longstrike, as this is something I really dislike about the current keywords, if you want to play tanks, you need to play T'au sept, also it's about time longstrike's suit is put into production for other septs Thi...

Those are pretty cool looking! They look hybridized with Stealth Suits. I might see if I can homebrew some Stealth rules for them.

Re: "Free" fortifications in missions

Well, you pay something for the Units and fortifications are free (So, you can have a Fortress of Redemption, Imperial Bastion, Aegis Defence Line, and/or a Shieldwall). I do recommend giving Planetstrike a try; it is a rather fun format. Although if you are the Defender you have to field the "...

Re: "Free" fortifications in missions

For one, the cost of getting that would be exceedingly prohibitive. Like in real money. For two, firestorm attacks as stated (though those are less of an issue if you are in the building itself). For three, the armies are decided after the mission is called, and there is no set PL limit. The mission...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Oh, that's good. I'll try to convince them when I visit them in march. Good luck! Those missions are a lot of fun. If you have lots of building terrain or Tidewalls I would suggest one of the Stronghold Assault missions that include the Meatgrinder rule. Especially against Orks. That should be a bl...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Then it is not a GW thing to fix but your meta.... They argue that PL is good for some armies and horrible for others. Specifically the ones with few upgrade options like orks. And I don't like open play either. I like narrative play. I would still like to have an option to use illegal units in my ...
