Tidbits on the new VDR rules, mostly. However, the last line also says Chapter Approved will be on preorder on the 25th.

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

My guess is this is for more casual games. Tournament and things will probably not let you use the indexes if your army has a codex. Maybe. Well, the page calls out Match Play games at the top, so I would imagine it works for all game types. I haven't read the full commentary yet, so no idea if tha...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

I might be getting my english words all jumbled up after work... Is this flowchart trying to tell me I will still be able to use CIBs on crisis, even if they get removed in the codex? Pretty much.

That said, you can totally do two seperate detachments, which based on the Chaos Space Marine FAQ, does give you access to both groups of strategems.

Re: Detachment-wide rules (a la Space Marine Chapters)

Your emphasis is irrelevant? The important part is "SPACE MARINES" detachment if you include 1 model in that Detachment not from the space marine codex it's not a space marine detachment. Apologies. I misunderstood your point. I thought you were trying to say the Custodes were OK in the d...

Re: Detachment-wide rules (a la Space Marine Chapters)

Simple question, when do detachment-wide rules apply for armies with mixed factions? Example from a recent game: Battalion: Some Primaris Marines (Salamanders) Custodes Land Raider/Guard/Contemptor Do the primaris get the Salamanders bonus? RAW from codex: "If your army is Battleforged, all IN...

Re: Detachment-wide rules (a la Space Marine Chapters)

From what I understand, chapter rules (and those like them) are detachment based. To qualify all models in thr detachment have to share the exact same <chapter> keyword for it to be a chapter detachment. In your example, custodes do not have the <chapter> keyword. So this would not be a <chapter> de...

Re: Forgeworld Rules Index outdated (or am I wrong?)

The thread you are referencing is about the previous edition.

If you are playing 8th edition, all Forgeworld rules are printed in the Imperial Armor: Xenos Index book.

Re: Turret and Tower

Forge World has automated turrets. How viable though is a question, and I am not aware of anyone who uses them. Sorry mate.

Also, for some reason this made me think of a tower defense game.

Re: Burst cannon vs gun drones

I think there is a tactical purpose or role on the various platforms it is available. As Arka mentioned, on the Hammerhead the switch from Gun Drones to Burst Cannons is primarily based around kill points. In a kill point game, the drones are a liability. In an objective game, they are potentially a...

Re: Concrete objectives

You could use the Twist cards from the Open War deck. Capture this particular objective and next turn this specific Twist comes into play. You could possibly use the Ruse and Sudden Death cards that way too.

Re: Follow-Up on the Sun Shark Bomber

Oh, and following up on my last post... Looks like bombs can target Characters. This won't do much good against most characters since you would need so many bombing runs, but in a situation like I posted before where a Warlock is backing up rangers making them impossible to hit, it may not be a bad ...

Re: Follow-Up on the Sun Shark Bomber

Agreed. But the text on page 215 heavily implies to me that reserves is a default rule for matched play. Tactical Reserves does not imply anything. It states that units can be put in reserve if they have an ability that lets them do so, and that only 50% of your army can do so, regardless of how ma...

Re: Follow-Up on the Sun Shark Bomber

Personally, I am a huge fan. They are a cheap platform for removing infantry, and functional at putting wounds on larger models that run in packs, like Vypers or Terminators. Also, one thing to remember is that the bombs are dropped in the movement phase. This means you can see how many models are r...

Re: New Tigershark AX 1-0 Images

I somehow begin to dislike that ion weapons are always the better alternative to anything that's not super specialiced like Fusion Blaster or Flamer. Glad at least the Riptide is an exception by now. Agreed. I think Burst weapons really need something to distinguish themselves from other wea...
