Re: Arka0415's 8th Edition Amy List

Yeah, I've been theorizing over what we'll get. I'd imagine several in-keeping with the themes from the 7th ed formations. I'll definitely be using the CA stratagem every turn. It's really really good. Personally I'm not going to guess, but we should get at least a few that make our shooting better...

Re: Throwing out the mold: the merits of despecialization in crisis teams

If the great Arka sais so... I will have to give them a chance again, then! Haha, thanks. I'm not defending CIBs out of favoritism or anything, don't get me wrong- if they're not the optimum weapon I'll be happy to switch things up. Do try them out though- keep your distance and use either to carve...

Shield Drones and Infantry

This was discussed in a series of PMs with user QimRas, but I figured I'd post some of our findings here. Shield Drones have an interesting relationship with infantry. If an enemy unit armed with Bolters fires at a squad of Fire Warriors with two accompanying Shield Drones, the Tau player is faced ...

Re: 2000 point Chapter Approved test

Even though it is odd, I totally agree with your argument, and despite the fact that I am not gonna use Broadsides anymore until (hopefully) codex arrives and makes them as scary as they were back in 5th ed, if you want to play them, SMS is the way to go (SMS with ATS is my favourite T'au weapon, r...

Re: Arka0415's Tau Sept Project Log

I'm proud to say that I've just completed the most efficient week of painting so far in my 40k career. Since last Monday I've finished 3 Stealthsuits, painted five Fire Warriors, painted a Homing Beacon, assembled and magnetized seven Gun Drones, and painted those seven Gun Drones. In addition I con...

Re: Onmyou's Motivation Service

Update as of 12/17: I haven't finished this month's models yet, but I'm way ahead of schedule. I assembled 8 models, magnetized 11, and painted 16! https://i.imgur.com/R9oeffn.jpg https://i.imgur.com/qpz9rfK.jpg I also primed two Fireblades, which are drying right now, so expect pictures soon! ...an...

You can't have an "8" when you count in base 8. You would count 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 10 11 12. So, the XV8 is really an XV10 to the Tau, which throws off the whole numbering system.

Re: 2000 point Chapter Approved test

Hey! I like your list in general. I actually had some similar lists tried out before the stratagem and so. But I have some points to make, although almost all of them are minor suggestions or ideas, more than huge disagreements. ... I hope I didn't sound too negative, as I have only pointed out the...

Re: Balancing turn one

Great, thanks. Likewise does either unit having fly mean that they can "see". As in, that unit would actually be a few inches off the table when shooting (eg shooting underneath a Hammerhead) Units can "see" from anywhere, even their feet. This doesn't mean they have eyes on the...

Re: 2k last chance list

Looks good to me, except that based on my own experience I'd drop the riptide and broadside. They provide long range hitting power for sure, but in the battles I've played they don't seem to pay their way for the points they cost. Exactly. The Commanders are good (try 4x Fusion Blasters or 3x CIBs ...

Re: Balancing turn one

Can units such as fire warriors shoot past other, friendly fire warriors? If not, can a larger unit like an XV8 or commander shoot over the top of smaller units as their guns are higher than the warriors heads? Likewise if an enemy has say a supremacy armour with a line of kroot in front, can I sti...

Re: a list for 1850pts for a total newbie...

Couple of things I've seen with your list, the second commander had only 2 missile pods? Should probably have 3x missile pods and an ATS as well. It's because the Commander is an XV84, not an enforcer- it comes pre-equipped with a Target Lock and Networked Markerlight, and therefore can only have t...

Re: Throwing out the mold: the merits of despecialization in crisis teams

It does make sense, and a lot. But funnily enough, I don't use CIBs for similar reasons you make with combining weapons. They just are inefficient in everything, and they only do a GOOD job when killing light infantry. Maybe my configuration is biased by my experience and my opponent's lists, where...

Re: Casual(ish) 1000pt List Help

Well, the XV9 was planned to be a tougher drone caddy, I could swap it for some Stealth suits maybe, but this will be my first chance to use it so I'm fairly attached to the idea of using it :P The XV9 makes for a fantastic Drone Controller unit. It's the only single model we have that can deep str...

Re: Arka0415's 8th Edition Amy List

Yeah that sounds good! I guess the only thing it'll add is basically morale immunity and a couple command points. Not essential because you'll have a lot already, and I don't know about you, but I rarely go through all of mine before turn 4. By which point the game is often decided! That being said...

Re: The everchanging game: FAQs and Updates

Although I do the same, I bought a Y’vahra, too. Of course it’s probably the best Tau unit atm, but it’s a really outstanding model, too. I love it. There's definitely an argument to be made that the Y'vahra is the best Tau unit. At least for the time being, you made a very good decision picking on...

Re: New Player Need List Help

We ended up playing power level, which i think gives me a bit of an advantage due to all the kit options that comes with tau. I ended up with 23PL if i did my calculations correctly. While the game was fun, i think it will be a lot more fun when we have more models. We played on 4x4 setting, with c...

Re: Tau bland in 8th?

If our codex had just come out and we were looking at 2 years of current T'au I'd understand wanting to change things up. But with just a few months to go honestly just wait it out see what happens Q1 2018 :fear: I agree. Though, so much in our lives is banking on this new release, I must say. It b...
