Re: Let's talk about the Sun Shark

The fact that it got 2 more ion rifles is a huge buff! Remember Ion rifles are rapid fire, so 8 shots at 15". There is no point in overcharging them, since they still only do one damage and the chance to lose a drone plus the heavy d3 profile are way to much of a penalty. 50" movement is ...

Re: What's the rationale behind differently-colored helmets, armor plates, etc?

Truth is its all aesthetics. So paint however you want. I like the differentiation of the different ranks by helmets and marking so i do it too. It's thematic and visually appealing painting-wise. Not really. Well not completely at least. Some people like to paint their army true to the fluff (many...

Let's talk about the Sun Shark

The Sun Shark got quite a bit better with the new FAQ of course. At 167 points with one Missile Pod or 191 with both, it can output an impressive amount of S7 firepower and gets the Pulse Bomb as an added bonus! It's decently durable (for a flyer) and fast. However, it'll die to a few lucky Lascanno...

Re: 2000pts Army List - New FAQ Changes

If it's intended to be competitive, I think the bomber needs to go. And I'm not a huge fan of the misslemander sitting back with the group to hand out Kauyon/Mont'ka. It's 700 points in gunline which I'm afraid wouldn't hold up against the competitive meta but I'm curious to see how it pans out. I ...

Re: 2000pts Army List - New FAQ Changes

Personally I would swap the bomber for at least a squad of stealth suits with a beacon and add more gun drones but I think this list has it's merits too. I assume you plan on having the flamer suits foot slog and are "don't charge me brah" for the meat of your army? The Flamers wouldn't d...

Re: What happens to the attached gun drones if a devilfish dies?

Any embarked units in a vehicle when its destroyed rolls a d6 for each model in it. Remove 1 model for each roll of 1. I believe that's the rule, I could be wrong. It might be 1 mortal wound for each 1, but I think it's just remove a model. This being the case on the embarked drones, roll 2d6, each...

Re: What's the rationale behind differently-colored helmets, armor plates, etc?

The system you list for Crisis suits, for example, is NOT the original T'au colour scheme. It's a revised version for the 6th edition codex. In the original T'au colour scheme for 3rd edition all Crisis suits had completely white helmets with red sept markings, regardless of rank, while commanders ...

Re: Vehicle movement

Vehicles move as normal, just like infantry- just measure the distance and move the tank. Remember that tanks are not immune to the -1 BS penalty for heavy weapons when moving. However, there is one important thing to note: vehicles are not round, like bases; turning a vehicle can actually make it t...

Re: Can't decide on a color scheme. Please Help!

White, while looking great on paper, is a problematic colour to paint with. Unlike other colours, white reflects all wavelengths of light and requires a lot of pigment on a surface to prevent lower layers from showing through. Therefore, white paints are thicker and will require several coats to pr...

What's the rationale behind differently-colored helmets, armor plates, etc?

Calling all lore masters! I'm trying to paint my army with the classic Tau Sept color scheme. That's regular ochre armor with some parts colored white and burgundy. For the various ranks, here's what I can remember: Fire Warriors: Shas'la - No alternate colors Shas'ui - White helmet, middle plate of...

Re: 2500 LVO Gladiator List!

Honestly this looks like a really strong list. Just three things to think about: 1. Flamers make pretty poor deep strike weapons, since their range is so short. If I were you, I would go with 4x XV8s w/ 3x PR each, and one XV8 w/ 3x Flamers. That way the Flamer guy can 'die first' and/or provide ove...

#1 is absolutely beautiful. White and navy are great colors and orange compliments them well. Give them brown/green grassy bases and that would make for a really cool, striking color scheme.

Re: Are there any good "charcoal black" paints out there?

I'm looking for charcoal though- Chaos Black is just pure, midnight black. I feel like a dark grey drybrush would look better on something more charcoal-y. Maybe that's just me though?

Re: Commander with 4 Fusion Blasters

I see what you guys mean- 2 small guns like Flamers could be cool, but four big things like Fusion Blasters? That's a lot of gun up there! Also, if the guns were on the shoulders, that would be good and stable. But up on the Jet Packs, which not only twist and rotate (while the guns do not) but also...

Re: Commander with 4 Fusion Blasters

We've had a few of these threads, but Panzer is right. There are a few options: 1. One gun on each arm, and one gun up on top of each Jet Pack mount 2. One gun on each arm, and two guns paired/twin-linked on top of one Jet Pack mount 3. Two guns paired/twin-linked below each arm The fourth logical o...

Are there any good "charcoal black" paints out there?

As the question says. Citadel makes only the glossy, pure "Chaos Black". Are there any good, non-glossy, charcoal black paints out there?

At this point, yeah. I don't see a reason why it wouldn't buff both weapons.
