Re: Help needed, 2000 pts vs Grey Knights

Next Friday I have a 2000 pts game versus Grey Knights and I need help with making the list. He is trying a list for a tournament and has asked me to make the "hardest" possible list with available models I have. GK list is made from memory, he already tried this list last week and won 12...

Re: 1100 point Tournament List, Need help!

This looks good. Seeing as it's a tournament list we probably do need to stay at or under 1100 though, and I agree that the Seeker Missiles probably aren't worthwhile. That said, you do need to have 400 or more points in Troops/Dedicated Transports, so maybe just make one 6-man Fire Warrior squad? T...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

How many hammer heads with ions would you run in a 2k list? And does long strike fit anywhere into that equation. In the current Index, no matter how many Hammerheads you run, one should be Longstrike. In a tournament list you should either use armor heavily (1 Longstrike and 2 Hammerheads, for exa...

Re: Starting an Army

Remember that all models ultimately stop being competitive, that's the nature of the game. Our Codex will come out, then in a couple of years another will come out, and units will become more and less powerful as the cycle spins on and on. And in the end, most models will probably never come back i...

Re: Formatting Army Lists

In niche cases, such as XV8s with highly-irregular loadouts, I imagine a note would need to be added, but I really don't imagine this will end up being relevant outside a tiny minority of army lists. I agree that much of loadouts are self explaining, but leaving undocumented exceptions can break a ...

Re: Starting an Army

Just to give you an example why performance matters, I bought an $85 riptide right before the index came out because I thought it looked cool. I haven't been able to field him once in 8e because I know that if I do I will probably lose because it is quite literally the worst unit in 8e, and I don't...

Re: Formatting Army Lists

I thinks this is a good idea, with some improvements to make: Thinks about non-english speaker: the "w/" is not fully understood (German would use m/, French by a/, Spanish by c/...) Also this will works fine only with homogenous units. A more practical could be [Unit Type] - [Unit Name]:...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

My favourite idea I've seen before is an anti-psyker field for the Ethereal on Hover Drone - either -1 or -2 to manifest any powers that target something within 8" of the unit. The issue with anti-psyker upgrades is that what we actually need is some way to stop our opponents from using defens...

Formatting Army Lists

Hey all- with the Codex on the horizon, I think we're going to see a real burst of activity here on ATT, especially here on the Cadre Building board. With that in mind, I'd like to have a discussion about formatting army lists to easily share, edit, and offer advice. Here's what I suggest: If you wa...

Re: 2000Pt Stealth and Fusion Cadre

I run Darkstrider and Breachers most of the time and I find them to be very effective, at five inches one unit will be 2+ing to wound Meqs while the other 3+s and they both have ap-2. On a result of 2+ they get to reroll 1s (Darkstriders Markerlight) and if they get locked in close combat they can ...

Some abilities specifically state that a particular invulnerable save cannot be improved beyond 3++, but I don't believe there's a hard-and-fast rule that does this for all units.

I think this list is going in the right direction. I dug up some older analysis on devilish combos which is good reading. Comparing mechanized builds: http://www.advancedtautactica.com/viewtopic.php?f=52&t=26659 Revisited: http://www.advancedtautactica.com/viewtopic.php?f=52&t=27029&p=3...

Welcome to ATT! If you're interested in chatting about your anti-Tyranid list feel free to start a post over on the Cadre Building board! :D By the way, we talk Tau lore all the time here on ATT, and there's pretty convincing evidence that the Tau aren't really communists (though "space Japan&q...

Re: Starting an Army

Understanding what unit can do, and what they can't, is a really important part of the game though. And it's easy to misunderstand- many people, for example, assume that a single Lascannon is sufficient to kill a single Space Marine, when in reality the chance is only 33%. That said though, not ever...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

I am still a bit sad (and mad) we lost some more or less unique T'au toys to anyone else/the basic rules like Vectored Retro Thrusters, Split Fire or non overheating plasma but didn't get anything in return. All in all we lost pretty much and got a broken markerlight table, broken railguns and brok...

Re: Revisiting XV8 Naming Conventions

Thus, instead of trying to create a comprehensive lexicon for every possible weapon and wargear option, it may perhaps be more elegant to approach it from the other end and instead think about what kind of job you want the Crisis Team (or commander) to perform on the tabletop, then consider what eq...
