Re: Flamers and overwatch- not actually that useful?

So, at my local GW shop, I took my cir/flamer ghost keel and was fighting nurgle's demons. They charge my GK from 10 inches, successfully. I'm told by the store manager that I can't flame them as they're out of range. But... They're literally running into hand to hand combat, to 0 inches, how can t...

Re: Has anyone modeled an ATS?

I use the bottom portion of a marker drone with a small magnet to represent it. It works alright, the only issue I have is that sometimes it only wants to sit on one shoulder on my XV-8's but looks good on everything else. I might add a magnet to to tops of some of my weapons to mount it instead wh...

:-?

I expect they need to get through this new AoS release before they get back to 40k. The March 24th estimate still looks pretty good.

Re: List building, help! 1750pt 1v1v1

I'll be ordering a bunch of weapons from Red Dog Mini's so I'll be able to field that many CIB's without proxying. Unsure whether I'll be allowed to proxy the ethereal but seeing how it's not a tournament game I should be ok. Red Dog makes some great weapons- I use Red Dog CIBs too, you can check t...

Has anyone modeled an ATS?

Just curious- I know there's no official bit to represent ATS, but has anyone modeled their own bit for it?

Re: Fusion Collider vs. Cyclic Ion Raker... thoughts?

Thanks for that. I think I'm still in the new person phase and being blinded by the numbers as I REALLY seem to gravitate towards fusion weapons for the AP score, the strength and that D6 damage. Working hard to get myself beyond that. Fusion Blasters pack a huge punch- there are few things in the ...

Re: Fusion Collider vs. Cyclic Ion Raker... thoughts?

There's been some discussion of this in the past, but I can't seem to find the old thread. Our conclusions were as follows, if I recall correctly: - The best all-around loadout is CIR, 2x Burst Cannons, Target Lock, ATS for anti-infantry and "pocket" anti-vehicle - The best Fusion loadout ...

Re: New to the Game; Couldn't Help but Choose Tau

Looks like a great collection! Not having any Commanders might be an issue for making an Index list, but otherwise the Fireblade, Longstrike, Fire Warriors, XV8s, Stealthsuits, Pathfinders, and Sun Shark will be excellent choices for an army. Looking at what you have, I assume you'll want to run an ...

Re: List building, help! 1750pt 1v1v1

Welcome to ATT! :D Looking at your collection and the points level for the game, it looks like you need to field everything you have in order to hit the points limit. That's okay, but it means you'll need to field things in a less-than-competitive configuration. I'd guess that you could make a stron...

Re: New to the Game; Couldn't Help but Choose Tau

Long time gamer of various game systems and genres but recently got pulled into 40K by a friend who hadn't played 40K since about the 3rd Edition. So, learning the rules and learning the Tau as I go (Friend plays Dark Angels). The models were just too cool to pass up and it seems EVERYONE plays som...

Re: Ghostkeel tactica

I like running the all FusionKeel with a Velocity Tracker. I figure, if he's gonna be hard pressed to make up his points anyway, specialize him even further towards flyers, of which there are many. Suddenly you are a great flyer hunter hitting on 3+ with 3 to 5 shots, possibly with re-roll 1s assum...

SinisterSamurai wrote:Haechi says that one of the septs is Bork'an, which isn't in Chapter Approved nor the 8th rulebook, so it's safe to say that we're off the edge of the "maps", here.

Bork'an is one of the classic First Sphere expansion septs, so I think it should have been expected to be in the Codex.

Re: Help needed, 2000 pts vs Grey Knights

Next Friday I have a 2000 pts game versus Grey Knights and I need help with making the list. He is trying a list for a tournament and has asked me to make the "hardest" possible list with available models I have. GK list is made from memory, he already tried this list last week and won 12...

Re: 1100 point Tournament List, Need help!

This looks good. Seeing as it's a tournament list we probably do need to stay at or under 1100 though, and I agree that the Seeker Missiles probably aren't worthwhile. That said, you do need to have 400 or more points in Troops/Dedicated Transports, so maybe just make one 6-man Fire Warrior squad? T...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

How many hammer heads with ions would you run in a 2k list? And does long strike fit anywhere into that equation. In the current Index, no matter how many Hammerheads you run, one should be Longstrike. In a tournament list you should either use armor heavily (1 Longstrike and 2 Hammerheads, for exa...

Re: Starting an Army

Remember that all models ultimately stop being competitive, that's the nature of the game. Our Codex will come out, then in a couple of years another will come out, and units will become more and less powerful as the cycle spins on and on. And in the end, most models will probably never come back i...

Re: Formatting Army Lists

In niche cases, such as XV8s with highly-irregular loadouts, I imagine a note would need to be added, but I really don't imagine this will end up being relevant outside a tiny minority of army lists. I agree that much of loadouts are self explaining, but leaving undocumented exceptions can break a ...
