Re: Kauyon and flyers.

If there is a psychic power out there that makes a unit immobile, it is a guaranteed flyer killer. This is also why I hate that only our flyers don't hover. There's also a fun trick that one of the Bloodthirsters gets, it makes enemies in combat with it unable to fall back on a 4+. Get into combat ...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

I hope Haechi was right that we be getting good buffs. I don’t want so much I’m overpowered though. I agree he could be an elaborate fake, but honestly I’m inclined to believe him as I’ve said before. If it's an elaborate fake that would be hilarious. So much effort over such a long time. That's wh...

Re: First 2k list

If i do Montka i can change up targets after seeing how the marker lights flop down. That said i could save it for a kauyon but I don't really keep a firing line to make use of it =/ Personally I like to save it for turn two or three. If I need to make a stand, I can use Kau'yon. If I need to have ...

I don't have the rulebook on me right now, but yes, there is. I think it just kills the flyer and causes mortal wounds around the crash site.

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

These are not different things. They are just different levels of low expectations. Do I expect the tau to never be competitive again? No. I think they are very different. To be pessimistic means to have a negative outlook, expecting bad things and expecting disappointment. To have low expectations...

Re: First 2k list

First is their range, so in the case of my warlord who sits back he declares Montka first turn letting my airships move anywhere on the battle field and fire without penalty while still laying down fire himself. I actually wouldn't do this. Tau flyers are very dependent on Markerlights, so you will...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Absolutely the mindset we need to have. Getting pessimistic about things that (a) have not happened yet, and (b) may not happen at all, is just looking for an excuse to complain. The same can be said about being optimistic. If you are pessimistic, you can be surprised. If you are optimistic, you ca...

Re: Kauyon and flyers.

What happens if you declare kauyon with a baracuda that has a minimum movement speed. Kauyon says they cannot move for any reason. You can choose whether or not Kauyon affects a unit. If they move, no re-rolling hits. If they do not move, they re-roll hits. For the Barracuda, you would choose for i...

Re: First Tries at a Locally Competitive 1500 Point List

The idea is that, generally speaking, the Coldstar Commanders assassinate the enemy warlord and then go on to take out as much as they can after that. The Drones sit back to cover the 3 characters along with possibly one squad of kroot (and aun'shi is sorta a bodyguard as well) with the other squad...

Re: Hammerheads, Broadsides, and Tau Design Features, oh my!

The idea of a "pocket" Broadside sounds excellent, with HRRs and Plasma Rifles. However, lots of us have the old HRR/SMS Broadside, which can't be magnetized or modified (with those metal arms) so I'm hoping the SMS option will remain viable too.

Re: Fusion Collider vs. Cyclic Ion Raker... thoughts?

I would imagine 2 fusionkeels backed up by 5 markerlights (or 3 markerlights plus the stratagem on average) would be an absolute wrecking ball with 4 drones to provide -bs as well and could be backed up by stealth suits or drop-ins from coldstar or tri-cyclic commanders to provide some help against...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

I want to urge as many people as possible to be ready for anything, and to completely forget anything discussed in this thread (counter-intuitive, I know). This way, all we have to go on is our index. How much worse can it get than that?! If you clear any expectations, and nothing changes, but we g...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Sorry for the short reply, I’m on my phone, but your math seems to rely on the fact that the Punisher only shoots once with the main gun. A 166 point Punisher (for the Gun Drone example) shoots 49 times at S5. How exactly do 20 Drones output twice that? No math, just 20 drones and 80 shots, which i...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Trust me, it's not as difficult to have this information as you think. Definitely. A GW marketing guy I chatted with about a week before Custodes were released up and told me Custodes were coming out next. GW employees are people too, and people like to chat. Otherwise, some leaks come from the pla...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

This is what makes me sad about the Stormsurge. For near 500pts we get 4xone use semi-good missiles, one alright main gun with a random number of shots (I cringe at the 1s) and whats left is just a metric ton of Fire Warrior shots. As has been repeated a lot, I want to see all this redundancy go aw...

Yes, basically. If you start with one die, you continue using only one die (unless specific special rules say otherwise).

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Regarding the Fire Support Hammerhead, unfortunately for me the Forgeworld units aren’t an option, since they aren’t tournament legal in continental Europe, and truth be told most likely never will be. If the codex has a Hammerhead that shoots a gazillion times, I’m glad. If not, I’m still waiting....

Re: Tanks - what a disappointment

Not trying to be difficult, just a bit confused. It says “each time you make a wound roll of 6+” you add D3 mortal wounds. So is that you add D3 mortal wounds if you roll a 6+ on your D6 roll for number of wounds to roll for, or is it D3 mortal wounds for each actual wound roll of 6+? The "wou...
