Re: The All-Flamer XV8: Tactics Discussion

Aren't 2 flamers+ats about the same vs MEQ as 3 flamers? Yeah same but with less minimum amount of hits and less maximum damage due. Having 3 Flamer instead of 2+ATS is just more reliable and has a greater potential against MEQ units. Aren't 2 flamers+ats about the same vs MEQ as 3 flamers? Against...

Re: 1000 pt list

I'd split the Stealthsuits into two squads and drop the CDS, unless you plan to use the Stealthsuits really aggressively- who knows, it might be useful. I still wouldn't take it though. I'm also leaning toward giving the Rail Rifle Pathfinders a pair of Shield Drones each... it might help you keep t...

Re: 1.5k pts with what I have for a friendly battle :)

This is a beautiful list- you'll do well with it. A few tiny changes though: The Stealthsuits should lose the Markerlight & Target Lock (-9) and switch the Drone Controller for another ATS (+3). The Ghostkeel should switch its EWO for a Target Lock (+4) so it can move and fire. The Pathfinder sq...

Re: Basic (kinda cheap) 1000 pt list

I've played some actual games since the last message! Needless to say, I'm off of Flamers now. The Strikers are really enough to handle most hordes... and the army NEEDS its Fusion platforms and AP. I'm still not convinced about CIBs, though... Plasmas aren't TOO much worse, and they're pretty cool...

Re: Stormsurge

Here's my observation. Most good deep strike units are shooting units. However, many players are tempted by the possibility of getting that cool deep strike-assisted charge, something which was largely not possible in previous editions. Shooting may be better, but charges have an appeal that makes t...

Re: Duel Iontides

I’m thinking Farsight. Then the following turn use genius of Mont’ka to charge up field Gotcha. Deploying Farsight and the Iontides properly will be very important then. Since they'll basically be a static firebase on turn one, you might want to consider changing the list a bit. I'd give both Ripti...

Re: Duel Iontides

Remember that with Kauyon you can't move, so the Commander who uses it can't arrive from Manta Strike. Which Commander do you plan to use Kauyon with?

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Pathfinders getting a better cover save in cover (like Marine Scouts) or even a to-hit modifier in cover would be really awesome. Pistols on all Strike Teams would be nice but not really needed. They won't survive any half-serious charge with great enough numbers for some pistols to matter anyway. ...

Re: Onmyou's Motivation Service

Update 11/14/17: Making progress towards my 2nd deadline! Finished 6 more Gun Drones and 2 Shas'ui this week, and next week will be 4 Shield Drones and 4 Fire Warriors! Though I'm heading out of town for a week or so this Saturday, so I think I'll need to rush to make my next deadline :D https://i.i...

Re: Arka0415's Tau Sept Project Log

I haven't updated for a while but I haven't stopped painting! Here we are with 30 finished models (1/3 of the total force!) and 8 more on the way (4 Shield Drones and 4 Fire Warriors in the back). From here on out, it's those Shield Drones, a a total of 9 more Fire Warriors, then the big project- th...

Re: Throwing out the mold: the merits of despecialization in crisis teams

Ive been thinking a lot of the pay one price and choose weapons during deployment. And wishlisting it. I feel it matches these mecha suits we play with perfectly, Especially since im a battletech nut. But list tailoring is bad And tau are already seen as "that guy" by a lot of people. Fee...

The All-Flamer XV8: Tactics Discussion

When it comes to butchering hordes of light and medium infantry, or high wound-count models with poor saves, nothing in our Index beats a squad of XV8s with Flamers. However, all-Flamer XV8s suffer from poor range (only 8") and due to this poor range they're unsuitable for Manta Strike unless s...

Re: TX7 Fire Support Hammerhead Gunship Discussion

So are you saying that I should be taking an AssBack instead of a TX7? I don't think I can do that. And besides, even if I could, why would I when I went out of my way to play Tau, not space marines... There are exceptions, like our commanders, but generally speaking, we just have to work with what...

Re: Tiger Shark AX-1-0 Discussion

With missile mods, burst cannons and the rail cannons, it's 583. Not sure where you got the 619 cost. The main hull plus the two Heavy Railguns is 515. Then there's the required Missile Pods which brings you to 563. Adding the Cyclic Ion Blasters is only 16 points more than the stock two Burst Cann...

Re: Tiger Shark AX-1-0 Discussion

I suppose the release of the new model got me looking at both. The Fighter Bomber is decidedly worse in my opinion, even with it's best loadout of railguns and missile rack. It's also only 68 points less than the AX-1-0 at that point. My opinion on the AX-1-0 is that if you're bringing it, you need...

Re: Tiger Shark AX-1-0 Discussion

Ok, so it is clear you are confusing the two different Tiger Sharks. The Fight Bomber is what you are talking about, and it has a different weapon load t, and costs over a hundred points less. The AX-1-0 does not have weapon loadout options at all, and comes with two S18 Ap-5 D2d6 gubs., The heavy ...

Re: Tiger Shark AX-1-0 Discussion

Played this monday vs. a combined Guard (6 or 7 tanks) and Nurgle combo. I was allied with an eldar player. We had 1,000pts per player. I spent 583 on the Tigershark as I didn't bother taking seekers. By the end of the battle the Tigershark was down to it's last 5 hits and had destroyed 2 Russ's an...

Re: 500/1000/1500pts Escalation Tournament on 11/11/17

Having 2 pairs of gun drones from each CIB commander, plus the fish, plus the 2 from the fireblade made a great wall of "pick your targets" for my opponent to waste shots and attacks in CC. I think it ended up saving like 10 drones or something if he would have guessed correctly as to how...
