Re: T'au septs from the new Codex maybe leaked?

The 2 forgeworld commanders are kel'shan and dal'yth I reckon they're going to be septs in the codex also Actually, those Septs being represented on FW models is pretty strong evidence for Kel'Shan and Dal'yth NOT being represented in the codex. Generally speaking, FW factions do not get rules repr...

Re: T'au septs from the new Codex maybe leaked?

Well, I mean we already know what 3 of them are gonna be. The named characters in our army have fixed Septs that they must be a part of, so we can glean of few of them from there. Shadowsun, Darkstrider, Longstrike, and Aun'Va all have T'au Sept. Aun'Shi has Vior'la Sept, and Farsight has Farsight E...

Re: Riptide support systems (new player)

So, first and foremost, Target Lock is an auto-include on Riptides. Riptides, like most of our stuff, likes to keep moving as much as possible. The Riptide needs a way to ignore the movement penalty for shooting its main guns (both of which are obviously Heavy). So, in my humble opinion, if you're t...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

I wonder if we will see something done about the T'aus vulnerability to psychic spam. I know T'au are not supposed to have psykers but gameplay wise it is annoying to constantly get screwed over by enemy psykers. Things like preventing overwatch or reducing our already weak balistic skill or morale...

Re: EWO on a Stormsurge an absolute MUST!

Great thoughts GI. I see your point for the 6+ FNP. I guess I just place more value on the area denial aspect of the EWO. What are your thoughts on the two larger weapon choices? Oh don't get me wrong, against the right army the EWO is amazing. I personally just am not a huge fan of upgrades that r...

Re: EWO on a Stormsurge an absolute MUST!

Generally, the loadout I've seen online for the Surge is Shield Gen and ATS are auto-include, with the third slot being a toss up between EWO and Stim. Personally I find that the Stim is the more reliable choice. A 6+ ignore damage is always useful no matter what army you're facing. The EWO, meanwhi...

Re: Pure Theory: Designing an "Optimal" Tau List?

Two issues pop into my head right off the bat. 1. This list gives up First Blood really easily. I mean, its pretty hard not to have a competitive Tau list in 8th right now that doesn't due to our reliance on Drones and Commanders, but it is still something to consider. 2. If playing ITC rules, this ...

Re: GI-Redshirt

Welcome to ATT! What would be your second piece of advice (after "read the freakin' rules") to a new Tau player? Magnets are your friend. You can never have too many magnets. Truly the best advice you could offer. As a player who glued XV8 weapons for almost a decade, magnets really are l...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Following up on what Arka said, would it just be broken in half to have T'au ignore penalties to shooting as like a special rule? Would having it be tied to markerlights somehow make it more reasonable? Would it be fair in the grand scheme of things? Probably. Considering that most sources of negat...

Re: Let's Contact GW! (Round 3)

It would ultimately depend on the price of the Targeting Array. If it were priced similarly to other Support Systems at around 8 points or so, I would say it would be worth taking in place of some of the more expensive weapons, like MPs or FBs. Using MPs as an example, an 8 point Targeting Array in...

Re: Let's Contact GW! (Round 3)

Personally, I would not want to see a return of the Targeting Array or anything like it. Simply because it would pretty much be an auto include on all of our battlesuits save for Crisis Suits (and even on Crisis depending on cost and weapons). +1 to hit or +1 BS would simply be too good, it would p...

Re: Let's Contact GW! (Round 3)

There is a third possible option that you have missed, A bit of wargear that can be added to suits to give them a straight +1 BS. I'd say this is more likely than a straight 3+ BS for elites (which, frankly, fluff wise would make sense, but game balance wise could be a hard sell). Although I'm not ...
