Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Do you mean space marines as a whole or just tacticals? Because strike teams do shoot more efficiently than tactical marines with bolters, it's just that tactical teams are more versatile (both because of equipment they can take and because they can do more things that just shoot). You mean efficie...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

imo, tau need to hit on a 3+ normally with a reward for the markerlights giving you a 2+ or erasing a penalties for heavy movement or assault advancing modifiers to be competitive. We have very little melee ability, so we need to keep our mobility. Even the guard has bullgryns who are just about be...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

You are of course right. I'm too pessimistic. Although I know that multi-damage wounds are not carried over to the next model, I could very well imagine that GW would nerf our saviour protocols in exactly this way. Pure speculation of course... Maybe the “slight change“ is of a positive nature? Thi...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

My greatest fears are we do only get point balances at the wrong places and also maybe into the wrong direction, lose versatility (rules, special effects, ...) because GW can't balance them and also things we were used to are simply cut away like auxiliaries, support systems or whole T'au-Identity-...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

I was thinking about what could keyword jetpack be. Instead of JSJ like stuff, what if it was a fixed advance move, like the Cold star commander ? Suits could have 8" inch movement and an additional 8 or 6"" advance. It would greatly improved Suits mobilty, so they could redeploy aft...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Something that I found on Blood of Kittens. What Tau units could they refer to as to be removed from the greater good? Aun'Va is supposedly dead I guess. It's very vague and probably don't mean anything, however I don't think it's been discussed here yet. http://bloodofkittens.com/games-workshop-ru...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Gue'vessa since we already had sheets for them at one point so they are existing unit, just not supported in current rules Wasn't the gue'vessa and the knarloc mentioned earlier FW units with fw rules? Not sure but it wouldn't make much sense as there is no FW model for gue'vessa unlike the discont...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

How many units are the gene stealer cults? Because our allies/auxiliaries are 5 units, which I don't think are enough for a codex. Well prior to genesteeler cult codex there were 0 GSC units, so that puts us ahead with our 5(6) units Since GW said kitbashing is good recently, we might see tables fo...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Why are people thinking that T'au Allies might get their own codex? I thought the rumour about non-T'au stuff was specifically about the upcoming new T'au codex, i don't remember any mention of it being a seperate thing. A throw away comment about GW focusing more on T'au units than their allies fi...

To be fair, a significant portion of those ynnari lists is dark eldar units.

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

This just sounds like the index's RIPtide "fix" all over again.... They didn't understand that the problem was the riptide wing and not the riptide itself simply because power armor players were complaining so much about riptide spam. Let's not lose our heads it might be that or it might ...

Probably copyright reasons.

Re: Sniper Drones' BS

Didn't they used to have rail rifles a few editions ago? I swear I remember them and pathfinders being the only ones to have smaller railgun tech, before the broadsides had mini railguns Yes, sniper drones used to have Rail Rifles, but this is in a time when characters weren't as challenging to kil...

Re: Sniper Drones' BS

3) AM ones are woefully fragile, don't get buffs (orders and regiment bonuses mostly) are on overcrowded slot but they are cheap (less so after CA) Hilariously I've seen AM players now bringing 4 man command squad with snipers as is now 1pt per model cheaper than Ratlings ok they can't relocate but...

Re: Sniper Drones' BS

Every sniper unit in the game has some serious drawback (except for eldar ones), let's check them for each faction (excpet ours): 1) Eldar snipers don't have any appearant weakness, they are the second cheapest, are quite resilient (more so if they are alaitoc) and are on the troop slot. 2) Space ma...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Interesting that you mention the assault bolters, when i compare an inceptor squad to a XV8 squad i almost weep. An inceptor squad armed with assault bolters costs 135 points while an XV8 squad with 2 burst cannons and ATS each (so that we get comparable weapons) costs 210 points, while the inceptor...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Not everything, but close to it.
For example neither blood angels nor dark angels can take centurions.
