Re: Starting an Army

Get what looks cool and don't worry about what's "good". That's an arbitrary metric. For what it's worth, you can always find a kit at 15% off and free shipping on ebay. I've had a lot of fun with the commander kit I bought. I built it as a Coldstar and painted it like Minerva from Masterf...

Re: Starting an Army

Buy GW paints. Their base->shade->layer system is great for beginners, and it will be easy to figure out what colors to get. Also, invest in two HQ choices so you can take multiple detachments with the ultimate goal of a Battalion detachment. Definitely get a box of Pathfinders, and a few Stealth Su...

Re: Riptide support systems (new player)

The riptide is a great model. The OP likely already has one. Maybe don't double down on rotten behavior. And on a more personal note, I got my first Riptide for Christmas. Even in the face of aggresively un-fun posters on here, I'm excited for it. So I'm definitely also interested in what constructi...

Re: Riptide support systems (new player)

The intent of the OP isn't whether or not Riptide is 'good' by whatever arbitrary metric you worship, but interesting, common or innovative ways to equip it. So then, if getting to 5 markerlights is the best way to help big suits, and along the markerlight tree is the same ability as Target Lock, ma...

Re: Stealth Suit Durability Analysis

Is that for a specific mission or something? Which book is it in? I only have the basic rules that I got for free from my LGS. I think it's in the terrain/cover section. It applies to all games. Infantry get +1 to their armor saves when in cover, vehicles/monsters only get it if they're in cover an...

Re: Stealth Suit Durability Analysis

Not surprised! But that's because of great members like Arka helping me out. In my limited experience, Stealth Suits are great because they're good enough that an opponent needs to deal with them (but can't effectively) but not so good as to be a high priority must-kill target. I usually take them w...

Re: Haechi's Rumor on Faeit 212

I have a couple thoughts on this rumour and we will see what you guys think. I personally don't believe that the next two codexes will be thousand sons and adeptus custodes. The article where they were announced says this year they will be released and doesn't say they are next anywhere. https://ww...

Precisely this; I tried to bring this up when Bell of Lost Souls posted this rumor.

BoLS is hot garbage. They likely read our speculation here, posted it, and now people here are taking that as confirmation. Classic blogosphere circular logic.

Re: gw webstore

This is nothing.

A few months back, Sisters of the Thorn were in a similar state on the GW webstore, so I snatched up the last box from my LGS.

Within a few weeks, they were back in stock online and IRL, with new AoS packaging and a price hike.

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

A friend suggested having a list in the codex which adds the "Gue'vesa" keyword to some Imperial units. This would allow for some really thematic choices, as well as taking Psykers! I find it a simple and elegant idea.

Re: [Resource] Getting Started with Tau

I'm definitely a beginner. I started with a box of Pathfinders with the intent of playing Shadow War Armageddon. I picked up a Commander on the cheap when my LGS went out of business. After that, two sets of Fire Warriors loose from the Kill Team box were very affordable. Lastly, one box of Stealth ...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Following up on what Arka said, would it just be broken in half to have T'au ignore penalties to shooting as like a special rule? Would having it be tied to markerlights somehow make it more reasonable?
