Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

It just feels like whoever made the rules didn't even bother with tau honestly. We didn't get our guns updated beyond the pure mandatory minimum, keeping profiles identical or making the most lazy ports ever without thinking about the effects it might have. the fact our wargear overlaps so much wit...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

That is literally a wish list. Reading between the lines you do agree that things need to change but... Lets try to focus on what needs fixing and the problems inherent in making those changes, as opposed to how you would like them to fix it. 1. internal balance 2. many of the rules changes in 8th h...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Taking our temperature as a community. We all have a lot of hopes for the coming codex but after chapter approved im feeling less and less optimistic. Im asking some questions and posting my thoughts so I don't go crazy. 1. Do you think our index is internally imbalanced? I feel there are many units...

Re: Chapter Approved Leaks Discussion

That is an EXTREMELY alarming rumor. Can anyone corroborate? If GW was even thinking about squatting an army it should be blowing up the rumor mill, no? That said I don't know what defense the design team could possibly offer for our horribly balanced index entry and subsequent lack of adjustment. O...

Re: Let's Contact GW! (Round 3)

What dose the community think about markerlights getting the sniper special rule (i.e. being able to target characters) and adding a sniper special rule to the ML table? maybe with 5+ MLs in addition to the +1 BS. Is that OP/game breaking? Additionally I think the suggestion of MLs always hitting on...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Eh I don't think the core changes is what puts us in a tough place. It's really mostly that GW decided to overcost all our Battlesuits except for Commander and Stealth Suits. The rest is just mildly annoying. Oh and our Hammerheads of course. On first glance they look okay but when you compare them...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

I think that 8th introduced some subtle changes that had HUGE unintentional ramifications for the T'au army. Overall I love the changes made in this edition but combined they present some real design challenges for the T'au codex. 1. Movement in the game is much more dynamic. The average mobility of...

Re: Competitive Tau

I think the OP hits it right on the nose. T'au in my mind are all about having the right tool for the job. But in this edition the job is more like demolition project. Why bring your tool box when all you need is 10 sledgehammers (commanders). It feels this way for both our units and our weapons. th...

Re: So about those Riptide Wings...

My biggest question is how do you get any CP in a list like that and will that ultimately be the balancing factor. You can fit a 3 stormsurge super-heavy detachment and a battalion detachment in a 2k list. Would only getting 6 cp be a major factor in the viability of that list? We wont know until t...

Re: Let's Contact GW! (Round 2)

I'd be totally happy with Riptides if using Nova Reactor to activate the Nova profile on the main weapon also triggered Ripple Fire. The biggest problem with Riptides is their lack of offensive output for their cost. Bringing back Ripple Fire and consolidating it into activating Nova profiles will ...

Re: Let's Contact GW! (Round 2)

I think comparing Redemptor Dreadnaughts to Riptides highlights a glaring deficit. with a similar stat line, higher BS and more shots (depending on load out) you can get TWO redemptor dreads for the points cost of a single riptide. and they don't automatically take a wound to fire at full strength.

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

You bet there is. The Predator costs about 30 more points than a Hammerhead and has a little more than triple the damage output. Against a T7/3+ target (like a Rhino or Devilfish), the Predator will average a nice 5.19 damage compared to the Hammerhead's 1.56 damage. Statistically, the Hammerhead w...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Markerlights - I think the +1 bs needs to be earlier in the chain, maybe 3 ML hits. That or we need bs buffs across almost the whole army. I think 5 ML hits should give you a +1 to hit rolls. I think the way this interacts with things like our rail guns would make that 5 ML hits super exciting and ...
