Re: It's a new galaxy. What's next for Tau? Psychic? Thoughts?

I'd guess the Demiurg are the most likely to be fleshed out into an actual presence in the table top. Jervis Johnson said that they were written in as a replacement for the Squats and were /are intended to be developed into a playable race as soon as someone cares enough to get around to it. Rolling...

Re: Revisiting the 2xCIB+1xATS Build on XV8s

I think I'm missing something, within the same categories it looks like the CIB without the ATS is causing more wounds? Vs toughness 4 it causes 7 wounds on average with both, I've got that but against a 2+ the top unit labeled "CIB+ATS+Drones" is causing 4,54 ( or4.54 if you're from the ...

Re: Have you been Overcharging your CIBs correctly?

This is important! If you roll 18 shots for your XV8s, and get 9 ones... it's possible (albeit unlikely) all of those ones were on the same XV8, meaning the squad only takes one wound! It's important to roll separately per suit, or at least different colors of dice. This is were the rub is coming f...

Re: Have you been Overcharging your CIBs correctly?

I fail to see how this would ever happen, unless you use fast rolling here which you really shouldn't. 3 man crisis team. One XV8 has 2 wounds from a previous turn. One of its CIB overcharged rolls ones twice for the hit rolls, scenario provided. One or more 1s causes a mortal wound, not a wound pe...

Re: Have you been Overcharging your CIBs correctly?

Other questionable CIB reaction we may run into. Does that mortal damage drip onto other models if a xv8 model is slain before all Mortal wounds is resolved? Oh man, that's an ugly thought. I would think no, only because the rule says "the bearer" not " the unit". This should be...

Re: Have you been Overcharging your CIBs correctly?

Another questionalable interaction regarding CIBs doing damage to the bearer. If you have a three man team of crisis suits, two recieved 1 wound from CIB damage and the last recieved 2 wounds. If that unit is later shot at by an enemy unit and suffers an unsaved wound. Do you get to choose which mo...

Re: Have you been Overcharging your CIBs correctly?

If the target unit dies before you resolved all your shots I think you don't even have to roll any more dice and risk throwing a 1. Seems it should be all in one way or the other though, all shots happen at once regardless of the results ( so you resolve the overcharged shots even if they kill the ...

Re: Have you been Overcharging your CIBs correctly?

... but, all fire is simultaneously happening. ... Not rly, all fire from a unit to a unit is resolved in bulk, but it's not simultaneous at all. Technically, every individual attack is resolved completely one at a time, including removing models as casualties. So technically the target unit can pu...

Re: Have you been Overcharging your CIBs correctly?

I would agree with the first situation, how wounds are inflicted. The second point, stopping on the second volley because the model is slain, I disagree. The rule says "If you make one or more hit rolls of 1, the bearer suffers a mortal wound after all of this weapon's shots have been resolved&...

Re: Questionable use for countefire defense system

Interestingly, if you have a markerlight on the 'vre, It can't take advantage of multitrackers as it can't fire all of it's weapons. Also true, for the points I can only see a few situations where the markerlight might have advantage; to get the 4th hit to avoid cover or the 5th for a BS buff ( unl...

Re: Questionable use for countefire defense system

If you are going to spend the points anyway, then maybe multitrackers on the stealths will help instead, that way you get the same function as 1 markerlight, they can operate independent from the main force and its reasonably costed. I frequently run them that way, 2 points per model to re-roll 1's...

That's correct, but 1 hit wouldn't buff your BS, just let you re-roll ones.
But it still probably not worth it as Panzer pointed out. Oh well, just looking for more ways to play

Questionable use for countefire defense system

I know it's technically allowed, but would it be worth the points to mount the counterfire defense system on a stealth 'vre with the markerlight? It's not a huge increase in the odds of getting that markerlight hit, and even if you do re-rolling ones won't net that many more. But it only costs 14 po...

Re: Combined arms FoF

What's the advantage of using 2 teams of firewarriors instead of 2 squads of gun drones, is it just that it makes a battalion detachment? Also why a 10 man breacher instead of 2 five man teams? Yes, for the battalion and if I remember correctly the new chapter approved gives priority to troops for ...
