Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

But this isn't the thread for that. This is exactly the thread for that. The codex is coming out and we have to give GW ideas on how to make the tau viable and balanced, because they obviously can't come up with them on their own. Felt a bit too close to wish listing or experimental rules, but I'm ...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

What is the target of the psychic power got to fire at the caster? Either at full BS or 6+ or something. Probably still OP, smite vs a stormsurge for example, 1d3 mortal wounds vs the full output? And deny the witch works on buffs, not just attacks AfAIK. I think it would have to be a dedicated uni...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Here is another fun idea: What if the tau could shoot in the psychic phase? In D&D, shooting and casting are both the same kind of action. It would make sense for you to be able to shoot twice if you are not casting. There would have to be massive restrictions on who could take that "psych...

Re: Throwing out the mold: the merits of despecialization in crisis teams

Does the new Marker stratagem change any considerations here? I find unit asking a whole unit of Crisis Suits boring, but efficient. I really like idea of a Crisis Team having separate load outs for maximum flexibility on a mission, but that's more a Kill Team thing than proper 40K. No matter how a...

Re: First time building, concerns with codex

From your username I would figure you'd be the expert, but where the heck are you finding a steel beer can these days? well it depends where you live, I hear in US they aren't too rare, but in europe it might be different, I got mine from imported german nonalcoholic beer Leon Stainer or something ...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

So... what is the issue with Jump Shoot Jump being gone? JSJ allowed us to move, shoot at something and then jump back either behind cover or out of line of sight. With short range weapons especially, that was a pretty critical thing. Not to be obtuse, but why is this critical in 8th? Most cover do...

Re: First time building, concerns with codex

Keeping the same polarity is easy, just magnetize one gun and whenever you glue a magnet to body just use the gun to check the polarity, once you are done magnetize any remaining weapons that you need magnetised but generaly except for big guns there is no point in worrying about polarity as you wa...

Re: new person drone question

Cheers! You seem to be a real fountain of knowledge, so it can be a bit of a risk advancing suits and drones up the board? You could loose yours saviour protocols Yes, but not very likely since the range on savior protocol is 3". It's easy to eliminate that risk by moving the drones first, lea...

Re: Firebade volley rule double check

The Fireblade buffing attached Gun Drones is just another reason not to take SMS on Devilfish. And who says Gun Drones going in Transports is un-fluffy?? Remember this guy? https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/28483714965391053/74AB1067A17BC1E1F35929370A1B4C9BDAEF920C/ Oh man, that takes me b...

Re: Firebade volley rule double check

Just don't build a list with nothing else than Drones. They are a supposed to support the Fire Caste, not to replace them. ;) that's exacly what I intend to do with my cadre fluff though, unless drones become much worse then fire warriors in codex, you know, save T'au lives, use suits and drones! Re: Firebade volley rule double check

Drones in a Devilfish shouldn't really bother you. Gun Drones are a proper fighting force like any other and even get dropped by some flyer without. Just don't build a list with nothing else than Drones. They are a supposed to support the Fire Caste, not to replace them. ;) I think that's the issue...

Re: Firebade volley rule double check

Unfortunately currently it would probably be better to just take another Devilfish filled with Drones instead of a couple Piranha. ^^ Mathhammer wise I agree, I just can't let myself use the fish of drones. It bothers me from a fluff perspective. I'm not enough of an expert to say that it should, b...

Re: Firebade volley rule double check

Embarked units are not on the table so they won't benefit from any auras, but the Attached Drones rule on the Devilfish (and other drone carrying vehicles) say that "the <vehicle> is considered equipped with the Drones' weapons". And it is a <Sept> unit, so yes the Fireblades aura would a...

Re: Firebade volley rule double check

The two Devilfish Gun Drones aren't embarked. They are part of the Devilfish and the Devilfish counts their Pulse Carbines as his own until they detach. So yes the Fireblade buffs the Devilfishs Gun Drones as well. The Drones that are actually embarked don't get anything since they are not on the t...

Re: Firebade volley rule double check

the drones get buffed if they are within 6", nothing really to discuss there... you can look at it both ways, the devilfish having 4 carbines, it's sept unit, it's within range, it gets 1+ shot per carbine on half range the drones having the carbines but being embarked, again sept unit within ...

Re: Firebade volley rule double check

If this works then you could technically get the buff in any of our tidewalls. I'm curious to hear what other people think because I say it does work but that may or may not be correct. I don't think so, units embarked in a transport can't be buffed AFAIK, it's the fact that the devil fish " i...

Firebade volley rule double check

I searched for it, but couldn't find an answer, so forgive me if I missed it. I've been running 2 'fish with a Fireblade as one of the support elements ( full details in a prior post if interested) and I realized something in my last game that I want to make sure I'm doing legally. The volley fire r...
