Re: How to deal with Nids?

So I've had a game where I proxied a riptide as an Y'Vahra and I actually won that. The Y'vahra cannot be charged, because of it's flamer and it deals just so much damage. Maybe I will get one in the future :/ Bear in mind that this is exactly why some 'Nid lists include a GSC Magus or two with Mas...

Re: Chapter Approved Leaks Discussion

They did an FAQ that said that characters can be shot in overwatch even if they are not the closest model at the moment of their charge. The character changes in CA do not change this fact. Yeah... though most people I play tend to try sending in at least one squad of mooks to tie them up in melee ...

Re: How to deal with Nids?

3 units of Zoanthropes? Oof. I know that pain. My best ways of dealing with them are to use my Y'Vahra to flame them up. With 3 damage apiece, each failed save is a dead Zoanthrope. Other than that, Dakka is your best bet. However my advice is to remember that while they are capable of laying down u...

Re: Chapter Approved Leaks Discussion

Hey bro I am just saying how it is. Also, don't use forgeworld as a barometer, what they make is entirely up to the director of that studio and he is the only Tau fan at GW. "Only Tau fan at GW", aren't you forgetting about Phil Kelly? You know, the guy who basically defined the Farsight ...

Re: Chapter Approved Leaks Discussion

The whole increasing the points cost of Titans and similar units seems a bit counterproductive when one of the big appeals of Chapter Approved is rules for Apocalypse games IMO. Especially since the use of them made the games go significantly faster. Apocalypse missions don't use points so there is...

Re: Chapter Approved Leaks Discussion

Anyone notice that the Manta got a points decrease? It's almost as if they're trying to encourage us to buy the outlandishly overpriced model... Remember that the 2000 points is the model without weapons. I'd have to get back to my previous index and look at the weapon costs to see if that is actua...

Re: Chapter Approved Leaks Discussion

That is an EXTREMELY alarming rumor. Can anyone corroborate? If GW was even thinking about squatting an army it should be blowing up the rumor mill, no? I can imagine a plot twist where the T'au become an imperial sub-faction though. It's not a rumor, just a whining isolated player. Especially cons...

Re: Ynnari...

Deepstriking is great vs ynnari, deepstrike a commander behind a unit and pull it back to the other side of the board. I don't think any of our flyers are cost effective options, but if you can make it work go for it. The Sunshark is, since it's a bomber with unlimited ammo for the bombardment. Any...

Re: Ynnari...

Okay the spreading thing seems like a good idea. A Sun shark seems like a good choice since on average it'll kill half of the unit (Assuming you use it against infantry). I'm still hoping that a deep strike will help somewhere along the line.

Ynnari...

Okay, the biggest "That guy" of my local club loves to play Ynnari. I fought him once and was forced to concede after just 1 round. :::( . I still think it's bull that DRONES count for the purposes of their extra turns, but until they fix that I'm stuck without a good way to deal with them...

Re: RAW, Mont'Ka and heavy weapons.

Your opponent is more likely to waste firepower on small squads than they are on large squads. Always is and always will be. That's why MSU is strong and is used competitively. Anyway, we're now off topic and should bring this back to Mont'ka. Not if they can divide their firepower between differen...

Re: RAW, Mont'Ka and heavy weapons.

While our gun drones (and recently shield drones) are crucial, it makes a huge difference how you organize them. Tactical drone squads, or compiling them via Crisis suits (Especially with a Drone Controller) are how you should organize them if you're expecting that sort of game. Which the Fate of Ko...

Re: RAW, Mont'Ka and heavy weapons.

That's all well and good, but I still feel that you're wrong about him just being a gimmick. I've been able to make great use of him throughout all my 8e games. The problem is you're still thinking of him as a solo melee unit, and not taking advantage of his ability to use Mont'ka twice, the benefit...

Re: RAW, Mont'Ka and heavy weapons.

As I have stated before, Farsight's deepstriking strategies really help if you know how to use him. I'm not sure why you're so angry about my use of him, since he's more than made up his points for me several times over. It might not seem like a good idea to place him near hammerheads from the begin...

Re: RAW, Mont'Ka and heavy weapons.

Only if you're maintaining a static defense line. Sometimes you really need to move about the battlefield. Particularly if your enemy is deep striking behind your lines.
