Re: 40k as Post-Apocalyptic Narrative - Are Tau the "Good Guys"?

I totally agree with you!

I think the term "good" is a little heavy handed - to me, in 40k there are varying shades of grey and we just happen to be the lightest shade around :P

Re: saviour protocols with shield drones

Which units have the FNP-Rule? Just all with keyword Drone? If the same unit fires with two or more shots with the same weapon, is the damage of both transformed in one mortal wound or does one of them kill the Drone and the second has to be taken by a second Drone or the target? Thank you for your...

Re: An Appeal for Jump-Shoot-Jump

There is no point in wasting design time in things that nobody will ever use. You might as well make everything good and some things situational but still good, or just don't bother. Unless JSJ stratagem is giving us a 20" out of turn move, they might as well design something else. I totally a...

Re: An Appeal for Jump-Shoot-Jump

Here's a wild idea: What if we got something other than JSJ that synergized with moving around and increased our durability? Like "if you moved at least half your movement, people shooting at you get -1 to hit" It's a nice idea, but I think that destroys the whole point of our battlesuits...

Re: saviour protocols with shield drones

No, because it takes a Mortal Wound.

It can, however, use it's "Feel No Pain" ability (on a 5+, ignore the wound)

Re: An Appeal for Jump-Shoot-Jump

Perhaps just increasing all of our weapons' ranges by 6" would have been compensation enough, since that would have a similar impact to moving backwards 6" after shooting. Just an idea. I only played a little of 7th edition, so I don't have a whole lot of experience. I do miss JSJ and I t...

Re: 2000pts Tournament Prep

I like stim injectors on the storm surge but in my 2k list I am trying them out as velocity trackers. This is to help against hard to hit enemies like altioc eldar. Consider giving the crisis team a drone c ontroller and 6 marker drones. With the markerlight stratagem you should average 5.333 marke...

2000pts Tournament Prep

So, in a month I will be entering my first tournament! The full rules are available here but the important things are: - 2000 points - At least one detachment must contain 1000 points - WSIWYG and fully painted So, with that in mind, I began building my list (already got a lot of painting to do so t...

Re: Ukrainian battlesuits

I've ordered stuff from there before and I have to say I absolutely love it all. As was said, T'au don't really have much individuality - even the newer sculpts (which are much, much better than previous) are all a bit samey when you put a bunch of them side by side, so anything that sticks out, suc...

Re: Local escalation league

Personally, I would go with the Fireblade option. Seeing as you know what's coming up next week, the Fireblade would be a great option to grab the Relic and still be screened by your forces. A Coldstar suit, while much faster, wouldn't be able to grab it if you say it's only Infantry that can. Do yo...

Re: Casual(ish) 1000pt List Help

Drop the firesight and hide 3 ML in the strike teams and drop a squad of gun drones for a squad of 5 pathfinders. 7 points left which is poop. Not sure if I'm sold on the XV9 without ATS. It's 133 points for essentially just more s5 shots and the ability to drop 4 drones where you want to. If you p...

Re: Casual(ish) 1000pt List Help

This list looks quite good. The XV8s, XV9 with Drone Controller, two Commanders, etc. all seem solid. Running a Battalion at 1000 points means you have a lot of infantry, and less alpha strike ability than you might otherwise want, so I'd try to be the main "objective holder" on your team...

Casual(ish) 1000pt List Help

So I recently picked up an XV9 Hazard suit that I plan on using Sunday (may post a little project log on Saturday, gives me an excuse to build, spray and paint it!) for a casual game. A little detail about the game itself... The game is roughyl 4-a-side, with a captain on each playing 2000 points wh...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

So... what is the issue with Jump Shoot Jump being gone? JSJ allowed us to move, shoot at something and then jump back either behind cover or out of line of sight. With short range weapons especially, that was a pretty critical thing. Considering the rest, why would a strategem not be reasonable fo...
