Re: 9", Buildings, and charge distances.

I would add that although the vertical movement may not be taken into consideration for the charge move they would still need to end their move within 1'' of an enemy unit

Re: Commander w/ Tenacious Survivor and Shield Drones

Although doing this risks that some damage goes onto the commander (e.g. all the drones die before the unit's shooting is over). If the commander is behind, you may lose all the drones quicker but the commander cannot be damaged (until the drones are all dead and a new unit fires) Yeah fair enough ...

Re: Commander w/ Tenacious Survivor and Shield Drones

An interesting thought though is that if you have gun drones you are better off in a lot of cases having the commander closer as if he is targeted it is a higher toughness value (assuming you would pass off mortal wounds) whilst this isn’t as big a deal as it was before it can lead to slightly less...

Re: ITC Standings / Top Lists Update

I quote the ruling: "If any attack in the Shooting phase from this model successfully hits its target, regardless of whether it passes its wound roll, it automatically applies a single markerlight counter to the target unit. This ability may only apply a maximum of one Markerlight counter per ...

Re: ITC Standings / Top Lists Update

Out of the six events in the last two months only one Tau army made it into a top three, scoring 3rd at the "Hammer in the New Year GT" event on January 6-7. Here's that Tau list which features 11 Commanders: http://bloodofkittens.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Bradley-Nichols-3rd-Overall...

Re: Early warning override use against Reserve models.

I was in a thread discussing this a while back. I think the consensus is that RAW is really unclear. As character targeting, LoS and weapon range are all at the 'choosing a target' step, either they all apply or none of them do :P EDIT: The argument is basically whether 'may shoot at that unit' bypa...

Re: GW Live Stream: Markerlight Strategem

Does anyone have any idea how this will work with high intensity markerlights? Because those give you three ML right off the bat, dropping down to 1+D3 ML would be a very bad deal. Do you reckon you can just take 3+d3? My initial thought would be because their not 'Markerlights' this stratagem can'...

Re: Shield drones. I'm totally confused.

If using saviour protocols, all the damage from a single wound is converted to a single mortal wound

This is in the FAQ:

If you do, that Drones unit suffers a mortal
wound instead of the normal damage.’

The 'Instead of' is the important bit

Re: Questionable use for countefire defense system

Interestingly, if you have a markerlight on the 'vre, It can't take advantage of multitrackers as it can't fire all of it's weapons.

Re: Can I overcharge my Riptide's Nova Reactor twice a turn?

Well the rule says In your movement phase you can choose to use... If you do, the Riptide Shas'vre suffers a mortal wound.' To me, this says that your only option is whether you use it or not and that you can't activate it multiple times. You don't actually get a choice of activating it any number o...

Re: Tactics vs. Dark Eldar

I find that with the low toughness of Dark Eldar vehicles, the CIB works better than fusion (at least it's more consistent, rather than the spiking of FBs). So I had a thought. I know he's going to be running a lot of venoms, which have the fly keyword, but also have that flicker field nonsense that...

Re: 2K versus Dark Eldar

The ghostkeel is more of a distraction carnifex and he's not quite the highest points (Stormsurge ;) ). The stealth suits are mainly there to pad out the vanguard detachment and because I don't have much else. I probably will replace them with strike team/breacher/drones when I get any. Especially s...

Re: Shield Drone vs Heavy Bolter Hellfire command

The only confusing thing is when they talk about wounds in form of remaining health points (something they really should've re-named since they already are using the term "wound" for something else). This. When the rules say 'When a model in this unit loses a wound...' to me this is entir...

Re: Shield Drone vs Heavy Bolter Hellfire command

I've always thought that the additional mortal wounds on the railgun have to be allocated separately. As they are separate (mortal) wounds you still have to allocate them, allowing saviour protocols on each separate (mortal) wound

Re: EWO and Characters

Targeting, checking range and LOS is a single step in the shooting sequence. EWO either starts the shooting sequence before this step (and you have to obey the step completely as there is no explicit permission to ignore any parts of it) or after this step (and then you can shoot through solid wall...

Re: EWO and Characters

You are missing the point. The EWO rule actively bypasses target selection whereas it does not actively bypass range and LoS. It is not an "all or nothing" situation. There is no choice in the targeting; therefore, you are not breaking the rule of CHOOSING TO TARGET a character. [Chosen] ...
