Re: Follow-Up: Homing Beacons and Fusion Commanders

Wouldn't call it essential, useful certainly. Not essential. I like prioritizing the transports, and sometimes without the beacon (the stealth team tends to get gone for pretty quickly) I can't nail them. But the commander will seriously damage or kill something else and draw attention. I do better ...

Re: Follow-Up: Homing Beacons and Fusion Commanders

My local metal runs heavily to mechanized lists. Using stealth suits to drop a commander in to disrupt the advance so that they can never bring all the forces to hear at once has been very helpful on multiple occasions.

Re: Drone Height Guidelines: Modeling for Advantage?

Hey guys, Sorry to dig up this post again. So I opted to cut down my drone stems and drill them out thinking i could replace them with brass rod. Because I was planning on magnetizing my drones I opted for steel rod. I tried 1/16th and it's a bit too small, so I tried 3/32 steel rod which is the si...

Re: First Cadre List

Also, in your list, you seem to have added two Stealthsuit squads, not one. That would make your list 2101 points, so I assume it's a mistake too- the list should only have one Stealthsuit squad. Ahh a copy/paste error. Good catch. Seekers you don't need to bother with if you don't want to, they're...

Re: First Cadre List

It's amazing to me what the difference in loadouts does to points. If only this were true! Just so you know, you've miscalculated your list by over 100 points. The actual cost of your setup is 1989 points, not 1879. So you have 11 points remaining. Oh dear, where's my error? That's too big not to w...

Re: First Cadre List

With the amount of troops you have an Ethereal might pay off nicely; the 6+++ is nice (Or the re-rolls to advance). I was thinking about that, especially if I take more troops (which is probably a bad idea, but there's something about being able to make actual formations with lines of soldiers that...

Re: First games of 8th Edition - T’au against Kharn

(Hope this is the right place, figured it fits better here than battle reports) I think it goes in battle reports, but until a mod sees fit to move it, let's continue like it's right at home anyway ;) My only successful melee combat: A Helbrute with Missile launcher and Reaper Cannon charging my cr...

Re: seated command suit

Looking good! Did you purposefully leave out the bulkier chest armor? I think it's a good choice! Honestly I'd just go with the Pilot if you want to add more models to the base... There's not a lot of room, and I think the Skaven would clutter it a little and detract from the centerpiece, which is o...

Re: First Cadre List

Thread updated to reflect current play roster and models available. Over the holidays I received a box of pathfinders and a Get Started! box. Couple of consensus questions: 1) New Crisis Team loadout, Cyclic Ion blasters vs fusion blasters 2) Breachers vs Strike Team I'm struggling to decide on the ...

Re: seated command suit

That helmet is gorgeous! I'm going to steal it for my next commander suit! I might try (depending on your green stuff skill) bringing down some sides and back, so that it has a more defined shape around the head like a helmet would. I've got no experience with the putty so I'm not sure how feasible ...

Re: seated command suit

I like it! Especially the fan and whatever the dead drone in front is supposed to be!

I might have put the left arm (the one crossed in front) down and resting with the hand on the knee. Looking forward to seeing it as you progress

EDIT: was beat to the imgur punch

Re: Expanding from start collecting

All of the above is good. I might go for: Stealth Team Pathfinders Commander (I prefer the 4x fusion variant, but tastes differ) Get Started! Cadre Fireblade And play around from there. If you really like your breachers (I know I do!) consider in investing in a Devilfish for them to get where you wa...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

The way things are progressing, i wouldn't be surprised if tau was the last codex to be released. Time to get that box I was talking about and stash my tau till december. We've known the codex release order since Tyranids. T'au is in March. Don't be overdramatic. Sorry for the rookie question but w...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

For a rework of Burst Cannons, instead of just upping the strength or armor penetration why not change their shot count to d6, but add in a special weapon clause saying that the weapon always fires 3 shots on rolls of 1-3, so that the gun never fires less than 3 shots but has the potential for up t...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Part of the reason I guessed about Gue'vesa pskyers is that the T'au Empire holds worlds that are majority human at this point. Even if the party line is not to allow psykers to join the Empire or even the Auxillary forces there is no way to prevent new psykers from being born or latent psykers from...

Re: Looking for Compact Commander Pose Ideas

Here's a WIP Commander that I have kneeling, Firewarrior and old-model XV8 for size comparison https://i.imgur.com/yOmOEB5.jpg I'd like to try modelling a commander (or maybe doing a commander Farsight build) sitting seiza as I think it feels appropriate to the spirit of the Fire Caste. It also migh...
