Re: Sub-Assemblies Priming/Painting etc

I always do bigger suits in sub-assemblies. Breachers and Pathfinders too.
Firewarriors and stealth suits usually get painted in whole sets.
XV-8's and commanders usually get their weapons painted separately from the main body, due to the mechanics of magnetizing.

GW gets the codex ready 8 months in advance. At this stage, the rules are set in stone.

Still worries us that they'll mess us over

Re: Tau Command/Rank Structure

I hear you guys talking but you're forgetting about drones, of course the Shas'nel has drones along. Not as effective as suit screens, but alleviates the need to carry the stuff.

Re: Tau Command/Rank Structure

Fireblades from my point of view are unsung champions of the Tau'va. They turn down greater honor and glory to stand with the gunline. The caste rank of shas'nel is a recognition of service above the rest of the infantry and equal but different than the battlesuit pilots. In combat their role is cle...

Re: seated command suit

Heck take a drone top (Which is all a hover drone is) and have the pilot on there! cut a clear stick to length and voila! Hover drone rescue for the pilot!

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Hooray codex! Happy to see all us xenos getting some attention. Kind of annoyed by the knight (we don't need more imperial models) but at the same time, Mecha... (Mecha are my wallet's true weakness) I'm worried about them fixing our commanders, and I'd like to see more suits being useful. But for t...

Re: Follow-Up: Homing Beacons and Fusion Commanders

Wouldn't call it essential, useful certainly. Not essential. I like prioritizing the transports, and sometimes without the beacon (the stealth team tends to get gone for pretty quickly) I can't nail them. But the commander will seriously damage or kill something else and draw attention. I do better ...

Re: Follow-Up: Homing Beacons and Fusion Commanders

My local metal runs heavily to mechanized lists. Using stealth suits to drop a commander in to disrupt the advance so that they can never bring all the forces to hear at once has been very helpful on multiple occasions.

Re: Drone Height Guidelines: Modeling for Advantage?

Hey guys, Sorry to dig up this post again. So I opted to cut down my drone stems and drill them out thinking i could replace them with brass rod. Because I was planning on magnetizing my drones I opted for steel rod. I tried 1/16th and it's a bit too small, so I tried 3/32 steel rod which is the si...

Re: First Cadre List

Also, in your list, you seem to have added two Stealthsuit squads, not one. That would make your list 2101 points, so I assume it's a mistake too- the list should only have one Stealthsuit squad. Ahh a copy/paste error. Good catch. Seekers you don't need to bother with if you don't want to, they're...

Re: First Cadre List

It's amazing to me what the difference in loadouts does to points. If only this were true! Just so you know, you've miscalculated your list by over 100 points. The actual cost of your setup is 1989 points, not 1879. So you have 11 points remaining. Oh dear, where's my error? That's too big not to w...

Re: First Cadre List

With the amount of troops you have an Ethereal might pay off nicely; the 6+++ is nice (Or the re-rolls to advance). I was thinking about that, especially if I take more troops (which is probably a bad idea, but there's something about being able to make actual formations with lines of soldiers that...

(Hope this is the right place, figured it fits better here than battle reports) I think it goes in battle reports, but until a mod sees fit to move it, let's continue like it's right at home anyway ;) My only successful melee combat: A Helbrute with Missile launcher and Reaper Cannon charging my cr...

Re: seated command suit

Looking good! Did you purposefully leave out the bulkier chest armor? I think it's a good choice! Honestly I'd just go with the Pilot if you want to add more models to the base... There's not a lot of room, and I think the Skaven would clutter it a little and detract from the centerpiece, which is o...

Re: First Cadre List

Thread updated to reflect current play roster and models available. Over the holidays I received a box of pathfinders and a Get Started! box. Couple of consensus questions: 1) New Crisis Team loadout, Cyclic Ion blasters vs fusion blasters 2) Breachers vs Strike Team I'm struggling to decide on the ...

Re: seated command suit

That helmet is gorgeous! I'm going to steal it for my next commander suit! I might try (depending on your green stuff skill) bringing down some sides and back, so that it has a more defined shape around the head like a helmet would. I've got no experience with the putty so I'm not sure how feasible ...
