Re: Ukrainian battlesuits

Not a fan of the look overall, it doesn’t have the regal stance that Tau battlesuits have. Reminds me of the oracle-like characters from the 5th element the way they’re hunched over and slightly animalistic

If Kroot ever get battlesuits, they’d probably look something like this!

Re: Tau bland in 8th?

As a new player Tau do seem like they have the potential to be bland, but it really depends on what the codex brings. If they get the Tyranid or Eldar treatment, it’ll make things really interesting. It seems like as newer codexes are released they just keep getting more interesting and flavorful, s...

Re: Aun’Shi in 8th Ed

I largely agree with the sentiment here- but there are a few drawbacks to Aun'shi's good points too. Pros: - He's the best melee fighter in our codex, pound-for-pound. - He provides all the benefits of a regular Ethereal. - His close combat skill makes him (somewhat) of a deterrent to deep-striking...

Re: QFC / coldstar magnetise?

It also depends on how far you want to differentiate them.

They have different heads, there are additional stabilizers on the XV86, and the jump pack is different. All of those bits are easily magnetized, but they may be a cut off point (like the head) that you really don’t care to differentiate.

Aun’Shi in 8th Ed

So full disclosure, I’m new to the game and have a lot of learning to do. However after deciding that Tau will be my army of choice and doing some tactical sleuthing, I keep coming back to the badass space Monk, Aun’Shi. Dude is just too cool. In an army where even the drones have shields, he goes o...

Re: 2000pt 2 Y'Vahra 98 Drones

To be fair they probably didn’t envision such drone heavy lists. Looking at how they’re packaged, they think of drones as little auxiliary attachments to your infantry.

8 flamers and 6 gun drones dropping in around the Commander seems like a much better charge deterrent.

Re: Factfile: Battleforce T'au

My skeptical nature leads me to think the person writing this blog is looking at how to build this specific box as a balanced army and isn’t considering a competitive list. Since this box doesn’t include pathfinders, a Fireblade, etc. they recommend the drones for ML support. I think they just aren’...

Re: Uplinked Markerlights and traditionally "overcosted" units

Markerlights Tree 1. Re-roll 1s. 2. Seeker Missiles use users BS. 3. No penalty to heavy weapons if you moved, and no penalty to assault weapons if you advanced. 4. Ignore cover. 5. +1BS. This stratagem gives you a guaranteed two markerlights on the target which means you already have at least 1 ma...

How much are you expecting it to be?

In Japan almost everything is ~20% more expensive than western prices

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

So would the most efficient way to start a chain to 5 markerlights be to start with a BS2+ like Fireblade and then use pathfinders?

Someone with a more logical mind than me please enlighten!

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

The fact that people are even bringing up the very concept of “getting rid of Tau” is funny. I don’t know what to say aside from that you should trust that the professionals who make their living off of the game having a healthy competitive scene aren’t going to treat the balancing of it like a fanb...

Re: What to do with a Pathfinder Team box?

On the topic of magnets, Magnetizing Pathfinders really isn’t too difficult if you glue the arms and gun together as one piece, and put your magnets in the shoulders. It means that you won’t be able to use one-handed gun poses but that’s an exceeedingly minor issue given the pieces that come in this...

Re: Firebade volley rule double check

Indeed, Tau is a “our technology will save us” race, not a “bodies on line” race. Makes sense for a secular race to look for ways to preserve their lives. Makes a lot more sense for those who serve gods zealously to be willing to value their flesh a lot less.
