Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Huh. I was wondering why Tem's points usually don't gel with the reality of the game that I've seen. It's because he's commentating on a meta that's unique to his region. So that's why a lot of the tactical advice/unit appraisals he ends up with are warped for the game as a whole; in his local meta,...

Re: Rumor Engine Picture Analysis: It's Tau?

The aesthetic is very clean, with a focus on round edges and grooves. That's T'au-ish to me.

Re: Stealth suits for dummies

On the other hand, the 2+ thing seems like it would be AFTER armor saves, which will likely save us quite a few Drones. A Stealth team with a single Shield Generator and 2 Shield Drones could take SO MUCH fire if that's the case.

Re: Flamers and overwatch- not actually that useful?

Eh... that's the range where they have 50/50 odds or worse of getting in, so it's not useless at all. It's a deterrent; forcing your opponent to take a 50/50 shot at charging to avoid almost-guaranteed damage is a good deal.

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

The change to Saviour Protocols I'm expecting is the removal of the weird phrasing.

It would be better for all involved, and easier to understand, if it just said something along the lines of "you can assign the wound to a friendly Drones unit within 3".

Re: Ghostkeel tactica

Eh... sounds like a waste of a slot for something very, very, very situational. You ALWAYS benefit from being able to move and shoot your heavy weapon, and you ALWAYS want an Invulnerable save to protect against the many, MANY meltas and lascannons and equivalent you will inevitably be seeing. Shiel...

Re: Stealth suits for dummies

Your opponent knows you have Stealth Suits with a beacon, and maybe a QFB Commander or Flamersuits to utilize it. Wherever you deploy those Stealths, he'll know what to watch out for and might deploy according to that knowledge. No one said you had to deploy your flamersuits to a manta, they can st...

Re: Something I missed on Shield drones

I started with the SC boxes, which don't give you enough parts to run only Gun drones. I was able to see the immense benefit of our barrier-bots right off the bat, because of that... good on the designers of that box. Those 2 levels of saves helps A LOT. It makes them shockingly resilient to the kin...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

We would have been better off without saviour protocol and just a fairly priced army instead. Eh... Saviour Protocols is the only reason Shield Drones are worth taking, and frankly I feel that the army as a whole would suffer if Drones were less viable. They're a big part of our identity. Saviour P...

Re: Pulse blastcannon

The difference is the pulse driver cannon has a 72" range, so you can just leave it anchored behind cover and keep popping the enemy tanks. well... "popping" average 1.5 (D3 would be 2, but 50% to 16% with anchors down and 5 ML to miss) shots of 3.5 damage (d6) for 5.25 average damag...

Re: Pulse blastcannon

The simple reason is, if you have a Stormsurge, you want it to kill stuff. It can move, so long as its anchors are up; putting it somewhere and anchoring down pretty much guarantees that your opponent's big stuff will have to either go after it or get out of its 15" range, which turns it into e...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Eh. The vast majority is just a shift down while the Marines and super-heavies get a shift up. All changes that would make the game less fun and less balanced, either way. Also, Space Marines DO have a reason to be better at shooting than regular humans... they're edited from the ground up to be bet...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Incredible. Every single one of those changes would make the game worse and more tedious. Most of it literally just makes something or other less likely to happen at any given time... they just move the baseline one step lower for everyone, for the most part. At best, it changes nothing but the time...

It's not much of an issue... getting 5 Markerlights on one target is both a waste and a chore with the current Markerlight chart.

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Yeah, but most other armies don't have the volume of fire we have. 3+ or 2+ is great, but other armies with that kind of BS only tend to have 1-2 guns per model. Our Crisis have 3 and our Commanders have 4, our Ghostkeel has 3 as well, and goodness knows our Stormsurge is just bristling with guns (a...
