Re: Interesting Combo - Riptides and Ethereals

Sure, but the Riptide still doesn't really... do anything. Giving it two 6+ FNP saves won't make it any scarier.

First Battle Report of 2018

After a long break from my Tau, I had the opportunity yesterday to bring a pretty strong list in a 2v2 with some friends. 2000 points of Tau and Nurgle Daemons vs 2000 points of Aeldari and Necrons. I consider this my first "proper" Tau game, since the first two were also my first two gam...

Re: New to the hobby, looking for Vior'la paint scheme instructions.

Well, unlike most people in this thread, I actually prefer pure, solid white for the armor. There's no highlighting possible, true, but the result is great either way :D

You can see examples in my project log.

Re: 1000 point list for 2v2

Y'varha's flamer auto hits the hemlock so just get close and let it have it. I don't think you'll need to worry about it too much but if you're sure you need to bring it down, I'd just novacharge and go to town. At least you'll bring the jet down a notch or two. Yeah, I'm really betting on the Y'va...

Re: 9", Buildings, and charge distances.

The Grapnel Launcher rule applies "when models move". I believe there is a distinct difference in "moving" and "charging" in 40k, and it would therefore not apply to charges. Might be wrong, but that seems like RAW.

1000 point list for 2v2

I'll be playing a 2v2 match next week with some nurgle daemon allies. We're up against Aeldari and Necrons, and each player will be bringing 1000 points. We're using the Adepticon Team Tournament rules (those that are relevant) and detachments, so my options are a little bit more limited than usual....

Re: ITC Standings / Top Lists Update

I ended up going 4-2 at LVO. Unfortunately I had to drop game 3 on day 1 because there were major issues with the BCP app and everything was 1.5 hours behind (Had other plans already). I think I might have done a lot better if I hadn't conceded that game though, finished 112th over all. List was: 2...

Re: Tau in Close Combat & Traditional Tau Martial Arts

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U02E2sjwlLM ...Kidding. Sort of. To be honest, it's not that unlikely that Tau martial arts - the practical variety - would incorporate their rifles or sidearms. I doubt they'd ever rely on taking down enemies by punches and super sick leaping axe kicks, but rather b...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

I can’t tell if I'm just a unique case or not, but I’ve played plenty of games of 8th and only been even close to being tabled once (vs a world eaters list). It's not like my gaming club isn't that competitive either. I've probably got around a 50% win rate in 8th, several of which have been on the...

I'm no tactical genius (Creeeeeed!), but it looks like a strong list to me. Do you have a general strategy to go with it?

I really hope the codex changes small drone units to not count for kill points/first blood.

Oh jeez, that's a very accurate summary of my Tau experience so far.

Re: 1000 Points Stealth List: Tau

I think your Ghostkeels and Stealth Suits will struggle with zero markerlight support, but maybe you're just using them to shield the Commanders?

Re: Paying noon for Mortal Wounds.

Yes, Biovores are indeed very cheap for the amount of mortal wounds they provide. I played a game with my Space Wolves against a 'Nid player fielding about 10 biovores, and my armor saves meant nothing. The fact that they create spore mines even when they miss makes them almost guaranteed value.

With one markerlight, you'd need 66.67 pulse rifle shots to kill one Custodes boi on average.

Re: ITC Standings / Top Lists Update

To complete my little snapshot of T'au at the end of the Index era with this list that came in just outside the top 10% from Anthony Bellm 15 units of drones each with 3 gun drones and 3 or 4 shield drones 2 x Cadre fireblade 2 x Ethereal 2 x Commander with Drone controller and flamer 2 x Y'vahra S...
