Re: Anvil Industry conversion parts - anyone used them?

i personally haven't but i quite like the heads. hard to tell with nothing for scale.

weapon not a big fan of, but that's me.

do also quite like the muzzle flash set (http://anvilindustry.co.uk/The-Armoury/ ... zzle-flash) for some of our larger suits.

Re: Starting an Army

When painting, I bought 'fun-tac' to make priming easier. Its perfect for holding weapons on. :) Yep, blu-tac, fun-tac and many other iterations are for this. One thing it noticed is just be careful to get all of the tac off when you come to prime, don't want little bits getting stuck under the pai...

Re: Flamers and overwatch- not actually that useful?

I feel your pain, does kind of suck not being able to use the flamers. But in terms of fluff wise, consider before the actual charge, the opponent squad gathers together to plan/psyke themselves up. Its at this point/just as they start you do the overwatch. After that, your squad has slightly panick...

Re: New to the Game; Couldn't Help but Choose Tau

Welcome to 40k and ATT. I myself have only been at it 1.5 months. One tip that ive picked up quickly is look into magnets for the suits (particularly XV8s). Being able swap out loadouts on them is useful (not stuck with a "bad" loadout, potential changes coming soon with codex) and also it...

Re: Stealth suits for dummies

So, to summarize, we pretty much all agree stealth suits are one of the better units as of the index and many of us like to take them even if they're generally a little weaker than a commander because they bring a different type/style of durability plus the chance for a beacon drop. That sound abou...

Re: Starting an Army

the whole balance flux thing was a main reason why i chose to magnetise my xv8s. i can now easily swap out weapon loadouts that have turned into paperbags or that no longer suit me, and can stick on ones that work a bit better.

Re: Stealth suits for dummies

Hi Can we get back on topic please. This was just suppose to be a quick topic to help me understand the uses of stealthsuits (new player and all). Kind of devolved into a written arguement involving commanders vs a stealth team. Will admit was useful seeing alternatives, but now it is a bit much. Th...

Re: Rules about drone controller.

All subject to chapter approved and FAQs which i don't have access to, but fireblade could buff the drones as the rules say "models in <sept> units....extra shot ith pulse pistols, pulse carbines... rule for DC is friendly drone within 6" of a model equipped with a DC add one to any hit ro...

Re: Starting an Army

Good luck and have fun. One last tip i have found is don't worry about experimenting. These small sets i feel are a bit more forgiving. say you damaged a gun whilst drilling for magnets, or messed up slightly on a paint coat. Its going to be one of 10, 15 or more of the same unit most likely, and on...

Re: what to get next?

Will see if i can find some pictures of the sprue differences, to see if its worth the magnets.

Not too worried about magnetising, currently magnetising 2 teams of XV8s, currently got all 18 weapons done and 4 of the suits done

Re: what to get next?

thanks for the input, yes all of the strike teams have rifles, didn't see the point of the carbines when could get almost the same affect plus almost double range. Physically what is different between the two commander variants, is it just some fins or is it major body rework? just wondering if i co...

Stealth suits for dummies

Hi All, considering getting some stealth suits next to add to my army (currently strike teams, pathfinders and XV8s at the mo) Slight downside is that im not sure how to use them. I know they can be useful to deploy a homing beacon for manta striking units to get a bit closer, (which would be useful...

what to get next?

Hi All Currently trying to flesh out my army a bit, and was wondering what people think i should be looking at getting next. Currently painting my current models, so not looking at getting anything until at least the end of the month. Currently have: (just shy of a battalion detachment) 1x ethereal ...

Re: Optimal loadout against quantum shielding.

Might need to get someone to scour the FAQs to see if this has been brought up. IMO mortals count as unsaved as they havent passed a save throw. for example (i know its OTT)an attack which does 5 normal wounds and and 3 mortal wounds. cover, armour, etc catches 3 of the normal wounds. therefore you ...

Re: Optimal loadout against quantum shielding.

oh ok, i misunderstood what people were saying. I thought you were saying that mortal wounds would bypass the shields as they were mortal wounds (special effect of mortal wounds) or that they didn't count towards unsaved wounds. Its more the single damage and cant stop that that gets them.

My bad.

Re: Optimal loadout against quantum shielding.

TLDR: Based on the wording of that ability that's giving you trouble, mortal wounds should bypass it. Broadsides and the hammer head can take seeker missles But you would want some markerlights. Railgun +long strike can help the with mortal wound chance if you change the Hammerhead loadout. I also ...
